I have a question concerning my player.

In the showcase I went back to college twice, got drafted by the Pirates in the third year. I have a 20 year old Solid option center fielder. I’m still at the beginning of my AA career, got off to a good start so far (.302) 2HR 10RBI and 5SB in my first 16 games.

My player is currently a 58 OVR but has a D potential. My concern is when I become a veteran player and go to free agency, will I get respectable offers based on my overall or will I have bad offers because of my D potential?

I saw someone post on this thread how they had a poor offer after a great season and he feels it was because of the potential.

Honestly, the potential system is a bit busted, along with the trades and user pitching (on Veteran). I won MVP and my potential was still a C.

If you can have fun with RTTS, more power to you. For me, it got frustrating way too quickly and I can’t play that or The Show as a whole anymore.

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

Yeah, the potential system is either completely broken or I have no clue what the devs are thinking (why haven't they fixed this glaring issue?).

So I made a 3rd basemen, drafted by Atlanta, I started with a D potential.

Played two full minor league seasons and if there was an MiLB MVP, I would have won it both years, leading the leagues in pretty much every offensive category.

Called up at the beginning of spring training (something else I would love to see patched...hit play next appearance, loading screen, pinch hit, loading screen, next appearance, pinch hit, repeat for an entire month!).

Surprisingly, I ended up starting from day one (guess my 20 or so ABs in ST really impressed them!).

Long story short, I not only won RoY, but won the Triple Crown (barely by 2 HRs), MVP, Silver Slugger and became the first member of the 50/50 club.

Probably one of the best rookie seasons EVER.

I ended up at around an 86 OVR by the end of that season.

      NO change to my potential.

Just finished my second big league season last night.

Won MVP for the second year in a row, but no triple crown (for some reason, the AI decided to drop its triple crown winner to the 6-7-8 spots in the lineup, which means I had zero protection...I walked a lot, but only 34 HRs).

Not only did I win the MVP, I also won a Gold Glove, so I am not just a big bat!

Right now I stand at a 91 OVR (without equipment), two time MVP, Triple Crown winner, 50/50 club member, Gold Glover and STILL I am a D potential starting season 5...

Created a SS for the first time ever. Drafted by the KC Royals (mid 20s round, forgot which).

1st year, right into AA as starter.
        2018:
        AA - 92gm - .356/.364/.476 - 146/410 - 23 2B 6 3B 4HR 51RBI 29R 16SB 2BB 40K
AA All-Star Starter for my league. Promoted to AAA immediately following ASG. Started off slow first few weeks then got on a hot tear and never looked back. My plate discipline was horrible. Led AA in AVG and H upon my promotion.
        AAA - 33gm - .268/.303/.408 - 38/142 - 9 2B 1 3B 2HR 13RBI 10R 3SB
Struggled in AAA. My discipline improved a bit but definitely fell off in terms of overall hitting.

        2019:
Alcides Escobar and KC can't come to agreements and he hits the market. Opens up SS competition for ST. I get an invite to ST. I make the team but don't win the starting job. Eventually I do
        97gm - .296/.339/.473 - 105/355 - 17 2B 8 3B 10HR 36RBI 36R 18SB
Was used as a pinch runner/hitter early in year. Did well AND an injury to our starting SS led me to get the starting nod. Played pretty well and never lost the job. 18K 60BB - discipline improved as I hit MLB. a lot of XBH cause of my speed

        2020: Currently
        87gm - .352/.391/.558 - 133/378 - 19 2B 2 3B 18HR 61RBI 58R 26SB
Skip started toying with me hitting 3rd and cleanup which helped me pick up more RBIs (I've always been leadoff hitter, all levels). Gained some pop in offseason so those XBHs are turning into HRs. Currently lead league in AVG and H (among a few other stats) but i'm not top 3 in MVP.

I want the batting title and gold glove more than I want MVP lol

Started out as a 2B (SS/3B as secondary) in the Mets org. Quickly got moved to 3B as primary position. Second year in was traded to the Braves. Made it to the big leagues in my second year. Was pretty excited until I was in the field and the 1B kept dropping balls thrown to them. Looked at the roster and they had Ozzie Albies playing first base. Had to turn off fielding opportunities because it happened so often. Keeping my fingers crossed they put an actual 1B at first.

Ha, yeah, think I am more proud of my Gold Glove than any of my other awards. ONE error all season at 3B and they don't call it the hot corner for nothing...

Re: Official MLB 18 : Road to the Show Thread

I just recently started the game and gota Road to the Show going as a Shortsop who has since moved to 2nd base. I don't have much issues getting on base but no matter what I do or how I tweak the settings I CAN NOT hit for power.

I chose Mr. Reliable which I understand is not a power type, however, I can barely even hit long doubles and have not even come close to a home run really.

Right now I'm using zone hitting on Veteran with no PCI, and I have guess pitch set for classic but I also had it on the type that gives you no feedback for awhile. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Ended up with only the batting title and hits leader. Missed out on MVP (not even top 3). Missed out on Gold Glove (Manny won it - AL SS so hard with Manny, Simba, Lindor, Correa, etc - I only had 2 errors but they had far better Range than me). Missed out on Silver Slugger (Correa and Lindor over me, idk how).

We miss playoffs, of course. I sign another 1yr deal. This one for $1M. We go into my 3rd season.

Can some explain the MLB service time to me? I got called up late May of 2019 and I am a couple weeks into the 2020 season and it’s showing me as having 0.238 years of MLB service. I’m only a few weeks away from being in the league for a year. It shouldn’t make a difference if I’m a pitcher correct?

Not sure the devs read this thread since they haven't said one word (that I know of) about the "potential" issue.

And it could be worse than I thought.

I restarted a The Wizard Shortstop, got drafted by the Mariners, who already have Segura there, which is fine.

But at the trade deadline they traded for Didi Gregorius.

I figured, eh, eventually my OVR will be enough to call me up.

But then I finished the first season last night and not only do I have Segura and Didi ahead of me, they also signed DJ LeMahieu to go along with their crowded infield (Segura, DJ, Cano and Didi).

The Mariners infield is absolutely PACKED with talent now...I am not sure they would have done that if my overall (a D like usual) wasn't so low.

Though that signing wasn't as bad as my Braves 3B when they signed Anthony Rizzo to a 20 mil a year contract when they still had Freeman.

Rizzo sat on the bench except in DH games where Freeman DHd. His (Rizzo) morale was a constant "angry". 20 million a year for a guy who only played in interleague away games...

Man, the GM/Manager AI is HORRIBLE. Why spend that kind of money when you have a future HoFer in his prime at that position and neither have secondary positions, when you need pitching so badly?

I would love to see GM mode and RttS combined. There is a reason franchise guys manage all 30 teams...

People could put everything on auto if they didn't want to mess with it, but man, some of the moves/trades I see make ZERO sense. Along with some weird lineup AI.

Yeah there is some baffling decisions made in RTTS and I looked at Franchise and if you could player lock a Closer it would be great, then go ahead and combine both of them.
