It's kinda similar to Sonny Gray last year IMO but not as valuable. he's good but he's not Sonny Gray in Oakland good.

I'm not using any math or anything on this but I'd say

      Ryan Castellani/Hampson
      Diaz/Bowden
      Yency Almonte

With the Britton trade complete to Yanks they received #6, #15, #29.

In my franchise I traded him to the Twins in ST that gives him ability to get QO. My trade was for #6 Wander Javier and #28 Kohl Stewart.

Think I did pretty good on Britton value! GamecocksLaw woulda killed me

Though if Twins are out of it in my franchise I'll complete the Britton-Yankees trade for the Twins

On contrary to IRL, in my royals franchise danny Duffy is playing relatively well. He is 7-4 so far with a 3.58 ERA thru 19 starts. What do you think I could get for him?

Re: MLB 18 The Show Trade Discussion

I'm at June 5th in my Yankees franchise, trailing Boston by half a dozen games, and want to be prepared to make a move to turn the tide and catch them as I don't wanna be playing a one-game playoff for my season so I'm looking for a cost-controlled starting pitcher to add to the fold. My ideal targets:

Chris Archer, 3-6 with a 3.32 ERA and 81 K in 76 IP, of the 18-40 Tampa Bay Rays.

Michael Fulmer, 4-6 with a 3.83 ERA and 75 K in 85 IP, of the 28-33 Detroit Tigers.

Jon Gray, 3-4 with a 2.22 ERA and 78 K in 77 IP, of the 25-34 Colorado Rockies.

Patrick Corbin (I know, not controllable after this season), 5-5 with a 4.27 ERA and 73 K in 72 IP, of the 29-30 Arizona Diamondbacks.

I'm open to trading what is necessary to get a good piece, though I would say Gleyber is off the table.

Based on real life value and less on the stats you posted I’m not sure I can see Fulmer going anywhere unless it’s a huge haul. They have no reason to hurry to trade him as he’s locked down for a long time still and they’d be selling low on him considering he’s having a bad season and is currently injured. He’s not exactly killing it in your franchise either with a 3.82 ERA.

In the spreadsheet theirs an approved trade for Fulmer to Atlanta which is headlined by Acuna. Torres is pretty much the Yankees Acuna.

For Archer there’s a trade for him to the Yankees in the spreadsheet as well for Sheffield, Florial, and a top 15-20 prospect. They are definitely going to want a few of your top prospects, Tampa seems to value him very highly, too highly in my opinion, but this is coming from someone who isn’t an Archer fan.

IMO you can't get Fulmer without Gleyber.

There are a few Archer trades in the spreadsheet that you can look to. The Yankees one has him in exchange for Florial, Sheffield and somebody in the 15-20 range (Maybe Thairo Estrada or Frecier Perez?).

In the 2018-19 offseason. I would like to do a deal to flip Jason Heyward for Alex Gordon. I am the Cubs. I know neither has any value. I'm wondering what I would also need to include to make the Royals agree to this. It's not really realistic but I would like to make this a fair deal for both teams.
                  Heyward's 2018 line .257/.343/.340 1.9 WAR
                  Gordon's 2018 line .275/.345/.427 2.2 WAR

Royals probably wouldn't mind the contract, and would do this as long as they are getting a prospect back as well. Only thing is, the Cubs are getting light on those.

If Gleyber is off the table, I would just look into Corbin as a rental. The Yankees could make a splash without Gleyber, but the only one they would likely land out of the trio is Archer. Florial + Sheffield + one more piece.

~$23.5 million of surplus. Could still snag you one top 51-100 prospect.

I know there really isn’t a trade for Trout that would match up value wise but working under assumption Trout is leaving after 2020 to go play on the East Coast (Made up story for my franchise, don’t know his real intentions).

Phillies call in the offseason with a deal of Sixto Sanchez, Jhaylin Ortiz, Mickey Moniak, and Odubel Herrera. Too much for one year of Trout?

I grew up where the Phillies triple A team, Iron Pigs, plays and am a die-hard Phillies phan so I’m definitely biased, but I truly believe Trout will sign his next contract with Philadelphia.

He loves the Eagles and is a hometown boy so him playing there makes sense. With that in mind, I can see the Phillies giving a good haul to the Angels for knowing they get an extra prime year and have an almost certain chance at signing him to an extension, but Sixto may not be someone they’re willing to part with depending on where he’s developed to at that point.

What are realistic returns on Harper and Murphy as impending FA's ? I know the Yankees want an upgrade at 1b so was thinking they might be a fit. B prospects for those 2?

Scherzer would obviously bring the biggest return. I'd be looking for prospects or young MLB players with upside. Also would it make sense to simulate to close to the Deadline and see what the offers are?
Harper is worth a lot. Like $124 in surplus a lot. However, it does depend how he is doing as he is a rental. I can't see him netting more than JD Martinez in 2017 or he could get a Machado deal...one headliner and a few lotto tickets.

Murphy now is worth half of what Harper would get as he is worth about ~64 million...but again, for a rental, it all depends how they are doing.

Herrera is easy. Look what the Nationals gave up and there you go.

Madson a little less than Herrera.

Now, Max Scherzer. He is worth $137.7 million in surplus. That is without taking out a degrading fee for age. With Scherzer though that's difficult. Also, doesnt a count for the payments until 2028 of 15 million a year, but we also wont be adding that. So let's say we knock Scherzer down to $100 million in surplus. That could land let's say Acuna + Touki would be perfect.

Curious as to how you're getting $124 for Harper? Just did the math (And I could well be way off...), but I'm getting $15 (then adding $10 for trade deadline).

                          9.1+(3 x 1.9) + (6 x 4.3) = $40.6/10=4.06 x $9=$36.54

                          $36.54-$21.625= $14.915 (+$10 for deadline).

I agree though, that the Machado trade would be likely be a similar deal.

I could be way off, but let me go check again.

                            10 WAR + 1.5 WAR + 4.7 WAR = 16.2 WAR × 9 = $145.8 Surplus

                            $145.8 - $21.63 = $124.17

Not including 2018 in here at all. Not including rental penalty.

I could be way off since it’s your formula, but I think you may have missed dividing the 16.2 by 10, before you multiply by the $9 mil...
