Re: No Season Mode?
Ok....so obviously we all are heated with this very shady move by this company. However it seems we just aren't being heard enough.
1. What can truly be done about this?
2. Who can we put pressure on to really make an impact?
The reason I'm asking this is because we all have valid reasons for this disgraceful move by this company we all believed in.
I don't genuinely believe that this company realizes what has been done here, and if we do not really make some air waves about this, it will open the door for not only them doing more shady things but also other future company's.
As I said way back in this thread I personally am very upset with this move, I paid for a digital copy of a game that is not complete, and I feel after 10 years plus of purchasing this title we all are owed an explanation.
It is an growing eye sore and a offensive slap in the face that each day goes by and nothing be done about this. Yesterday I approached this out of angry and believe me I'm still pissed off about it. But now I feel this is becoming a allowed to vent this one time kinda thread, and while that's fine, it doesn't fix what is morally wrong here.
When we look at all that has been set up by this company to not only announce this game but to publicly promote this game how they did, and deliberately hold information to sale a product is lawfully wrong period.
Yes we purchased a product and in that small lovely print to cover there butt, it protects them from lawsuits, but it doesn't protect them from word of mouth and getting our opinion as a whole community.
I was glad to see main stream pasta padre step up and put an article out, and that is my question here for us today. What can we do more to make ourselves as a community to be heard?
Massive Twitts?, Massive Twitts to SDS? Massive Twitts to the News Media? Something needs to be done about this. Yeah I'm already planning to speak with my wallet, that trust of a guaranteed pre-order from me is gone without a doubt. I just feel there are getting away with this and clearly this deserves some major attention.Last edited by StormsWarning; 03-24-2018, 08:08 AM.I stream a variety of video games for relaxation and fun.

Re: No Season Mode?
Well, I bought the game today, digital, because I was sold on the hype. I will never do that again.
I will never buy MLB again on launch day, and I will never buy it again if season mode is not restored.
I feel ripped off, SDS. If I had known there was no season mode ahead of time, I would not have purchased the game. As it stands, you have my money for a product sold in bad faith, and I don't take that lightly. Plenty of others here obviously feel the same way.
Do the right thing and patch season mode back in.

Re: No Season Mode?
I don't play other games beyond sports titles, but I keep abreast of developments and reviews in other markets, and what is happening across the board is that developers are moving towards titles that are 1) extremely beautiful and 2) able to produce a consistent revenue stream for years down the road. In the process, gameplay depth and the concerns/wishes of more serious gamers is being sacrificed in this new business model.
Younger gamers have less attention. Not trying to be controversial here but look at what companies are trying to cater to...instant rewards and feedback. Games that require patience, thoughtfulness, and puzzle-solving are becoming increasingly less popular.
The Show has been able to strike a balance that puts things more in our favor, but I think the wind is pushing them in the opposite direction now. I feared this years ago...expect no significant improvements to franchise mode...DD is where they see their future revenues coming from. For me, I would almost think it would be ideal if DD were a separate title altogether, but I'm sure sales projections would never justify it.
Things that many people are asking for - customization, more depth to franchise mode, season mode, etc...these things do nothing for their bottom line, because they've probably figured out that people who utilize these modes are a shrinking fan base, and the growing fan base is made up of younger gamers who want stubs, tickets, prizes, feedback, etc....it's the newer generation of gaming. Of course, there are exceptions but you catch my drift.
So...expect more of this in the future. As the trend continues, we can only hope that a marketing exec somewhere sees the light and realizes that more depth and customization may actually broaden the fan base and bring newer players in and then the trend will reverse, but I don't expect it to happen.
We can complain but t won't do any good...but one thing is certain: not saying anything was indeed a slap in the face to people, because it took no effort whatsoever to inform us of what was happening.Comment

Re: No Season Mode?
Hi folks. While the option for Season mode is no longer available, there are steps you can take to create a similar experience to it within Franchise mode.
- Set the GM Contracts option to OFF in the mode entry options list.
- On the Franchise Responsibilities page, set Player Development & GM Tasks to AUTO.
- From there, you can control how much or how little you want to control by visiting User Settings > Mode Specific Options to tailor what additional areas you want to control.

It's not my intention to be dismissive, but experience tells me there is nothing we can do. Their complete silence on the matter leading up is a good indicator that their mind is made up and they intend to simply walk away from this issue as if it doesn't exist. I've seen it before from other developer studios/companies.

basically being your own judge. I know your right JT and I know you been around here a good while. I appreciate you and the rest of the community that I seen in this thread Stand up for What is right. I'm really bummed out by this but life will continue. This is my last post on this. Smh I want to say more but I wont...
Peace

Re: No Season Mode?
Long time season mode player here, thought I’d weigh in...
- The ability to configure the number of games is a good feature for this product.
- SDS has no visibility to how many ‘seconds’ I play because unless I’m downloading patches or dlc my console is offline. I didn’t realize that I was undermining my purchasing power by under representing myself as a consumer.
- I agree with the many OSers here that the industry trend is alarming for the future of offline gaming. The vast majority of this years FIFA patch content was online oriented.
- My response as a customer is to switch to an annual delayed purchasing cycle. I just picked up MLB 17 about 2 months ago for $20. Playing version 1.0.0 and loving it. Now that i’ve switched to that I will still have a chance to get a new game once a year for 1/3 the cost.Comment

Re: No Season Mode?
It will certainly be interesting to see if they continue to ignore it. They absolutely could patch it back in, as the infrastructure for what they probably view as a dumbed-down franchise mode is easily there. Heck, look at games like Fortnite that basically added an entirely different game after initial release.
They would either be lying or just plain lazy if they say they couldn't do it. But Madden forced everyone to franchise years ago and I can't remember how upfront EA was about it or if lawsuits were threatened then too lolLast edited by chris68pj; 03-24-2018, 10:06 AM.Comment

Re: No Season Mode?
Lets forget about the fact that SCEA didn't let anyone know they were removing season mode and that they removed online franchise mode. The biggest problem i have is they did this without really enhancing the existing offline franchise mode. What we got was the removal of 2 modes, and a visual update of the menus with not substantive additions.
I used to be a franchise guy, but over the last 4 years have found myself sticking to season and Road to the Show. I like being able to play each and every game knowing the stats accumulated are due to my performance, not just simulated out. If they would just allow you to control the number of games in franchise I would be fine. (Adjusting the playoff series lengths would be nice too)Comment

Re: No Season Mode?
I spend 90% of my time playing Season mode and the rest trying to complete offline DD challenges. I can't justify spending 90 bucks for whst seems like a roster update, new tag animations and the rest of additions focused on DD....Comment
