Man, I just can’t beat the Dodgers. They’ve dropped me two more times (swept me in a three game set the previous week). I have two more against them, hopefully I can finally get in the in column. Update coming soon.

All you need is a Photoshop/Gimp/PaintShopPro and patience with the cut tool.

The most tedious part is the standings, anything written out is just a text tool.

        Yeah I don't have Photoshop/Gimp/PaintShopPro nor patience...

Love the newspaper layout of your franchises. This is something I would love to see added to the Show. It would really make the current and stale franchise mode that much more fun to play.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Last night (well … at about 3:30 this morning), my Royals won their second World Series in a row. This time with a 5-4 walk-off win in the 14th inning of Game 7 against the Phillies.

I stranded a dozen or so runners against their No. 5 starter, a mediocre guy who would've maybe been my long reliever in AAA, and Philadelphia had a lot of timely hitting to waste quality work from Parker Bridwell, who I picked up at the trade deadline when my own No. 5 starter went down for two months.

I was down to my last bench player, with a center fielder stuck playing second (turned a very iffy double play in the top of the 14th to keep the game tied).

Heading into the offseason, my needs are fairly limited. We'll be getting a new second baseman to replace Polanco, who had a rough year both at the place and in the field, but he's already in the system. Quintana will be allowed to walk in free agency, as he's started a fairly rapid decline. But his replacement is likely already in the system, as well. Probably will move on from Betances in the bullpen, as he had a fairly mediocre year (50+ saves but an ERA north of 4 and a WHIP in the 1.40s) and isn't worth his salary (one more year at about $6 million). We'll see if there are any takers.

The one big move will be at third. My starter has been fairly solid for most of his time. Consistent .275/25 kinda guy. But he had a rough year and is approaching 30. Going to move him while he still has a little value. His replacement is my first truly big free agent signing: Matt Chapman. He's a modest upgrade at the plate but a huge upgrade in the field.

After back-to-back 103/104-win seasons and World Series wins, looks like we might be shaping up to be even better next year.

After being swept by the Dodgers at Wrigley and losing the first two of a four-game series at Dodgers Stadium, I was starting to wonder if I was going to find a way to get a single win against them. Last two games of the series in Los Angeles, I finally got it done. Man, I hope I don't play them in the postseason. They ended my season in the NLCS last year on MLB 17. I was up 3-2 with Game 6 and Game 7 back at Wrigley, they won both to beat me in 7. Yikes!

What a disappointing end to my four game series with SF. I scratch out a win vs Bumgarner, then the next game I get 7 innings of one run ball from Bartolo Colon and make a comeback in the 8th for a 2-1 win, then I blow the next two games where I had deGrom and Syndergaard pitching. Cespedes and Conforto made the All Star team and they've been completely useless since the All Star break. I'd be surprised if they have ten RBIs between the two of them in the month plus that it's been since the break. Frazier has caught fire though, hitting HRs in each of the four games vs SF. I caught a break and Philly swept Washington, so despite my poor finish I cut their lead to 1.5 games as they come to town for a three game series

Dylan Bundy has been amazing for me.

He leads the league in innings pitched thanks mainly to his two complete game shutouts in his first 5 starts. All 5 games have been quality starts too.

In his last game, a 2-0 shutout win over Boston he pitched only 59 pitches going into the 8th inning. That included a 6 pitch inning and a strikeout on 9 pitches 7th inning (against the heart of the Bosox order no less).

He had enormous success against the yankees too. both the bosox and yanks lineups are so damn aggressive they swing at anything, and Bundy just eats it up.

Despite all that, we still sit in third place in the AL east but there's only 1.5 games between us, the Yanks and the Sox who are first.

                    OVERVIEW
Another solid stretch of baseball for my White Sox since the ASB. We did have a rough start to August after I switched my played games to hall of fame difficulty for both pitching and hitting. It's still a lot tougher than All Star but I feel like its fair and I'm enjoying the extra challenge other than dang pop outs on high fast balls with good swing timing and weak contact.

Yoan Moncado has continued his amazing season but his average did drop quite a bit (.352) but he currently is still beating Mike Trout (.350) in the batting title race. Rhys Hoskins is leading the mvp race ahead of both Moncada in Trout with a (.318 avg/49 HR/125 RBI) line.

Tim Anderson is also having a stellar season in his contract year (.291 AVG/31 HR/78 RBI) Sadly his success has all but guranteed we wont be able to resign him after this year as he is currently projected a 30 mil/yr contract. That's more than Moncada's desired contract of 29.2 mil/yr.

Pitching wise, Stephen Gonsalves, who we nabbed from the Twins organization is currently second in the CY Young race (16-3/2.77 ERA/167) He currently trails Chris Sale of the Blue Jay's (17-6/2.47 ERA/204 SO)

Really our only starter that has struggled all year is Lance Mcculers JR (9-11/3.97 ERA/162 SO) The rest have over 10 wins.

Von Jordan is leading the AL in saves (42).

Next up is the final month of the season. We are just about a lock for the playoffs but I suppose if we lost just about every game in September we could not make it. Our goal right now is to surpass the Angels so we can go into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the AL.

After falling seven games behind .500 I set my Dodgers a goal of winning every series to the All Star break. We've won four series since then in a row. Now we've come up against the division leading San Francisco Giants who took game one 3-1. With Alex Wood on the mound for game two, I was hopeful but not confident. It went to the 11th inning and I haven't walked off all season (only about three games have gone to extra innings) until Cody Bellinger won it for me, 4-3. Now we go to game three tied a game each so it will be a tense one. I'm not sure whether to go with the scheduled rotation and pitch Urias who is 1-4 this year or jump to Kershaw. Would be nice to get out of this series with a second win and keep the streak going.

MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Reading about all the franchises going on I think I may start up my dynasty nation page again. I enjoyed putting it together but stopped since it would take a lot of time to put a page together and gather all stats. Wish there was an easier way to transfer all stats and transactions. I was thinking of trying to find a way to extract data from the save file but was unsuccessful.

I like looking back and reading about my franchise in my free time and find it a good way to catch up on what had happened in my season. I may add another widget to it for video highlights or live game streams. Here is what my page looked like back in when I was playing MLB 16.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

We have now won 5 straight after sweeping the Rockies in Colorado and taking the first two against the Pirates in St.Louis. Our pitching continues to carry our team and we continue to get timely hits to drive in runs. Hoping we get more consistent offensively, but for now this is working.

Our newest addition Andrew Miller has been nothing short of exceptional. He's pitched 3 innings, faced 9 batters and has struck out all 9. I obviously don't expect that trend to continue but having him in the bullpen as another stopper takes the pressure of the idea of getting the starting pitcher to get thru 6 innings. In fact in our two games against the Brewers, both Carlos Martinez and Lance Lynn were lifted after 5 innings due to pitch count and laboring. In Martinez's game, we pitched Kiekhefer in the 6th, Miller in the 7th, Walden in the 8th, and Rosenthal in the 9th to close it out. In Lynn's game we pitched Brebbia in the 6th (he blew the hold), Lyons in the 7th (got the win), Osuna in the 8th, and Rosenthal in the 9th to close it out.

Our lineup does lack speed which I'm not a fan of, but Harrison Bader will return in about a week which will help, although I'll most likely send him to AAA to get back into a groove and bring him back up after the All-Star Break which is 3 weeks away. Once he returns and Juan Fabregas returns (end of July or August) we will have some of the speed that I desire on the 25 man roster. We're not totally depleted of speed currently as Nick Martini and Oscar Mercado provide that off the bench.

Our biggest concern right now is the poor season being had by Randal Grichuk. He is currently in the final year of his contract and is hitting just .210 with 2 homeruns and 25 RBI's. His OBP is .230ish and his slugging percentage is .302 I think it was. With the influx of talent we still have in the minors/bench, we could possibly be witnessing the final season of Grichuk in a Cardinals uniform. I'm hoping he'll turn things around in the 2nd half and get back to the .270 hitter that hits 20-25 homeruns per season and drives in 80-100 runs.

Ten games into the 2019 season, the New York Mets sit at 7-3. The wins haven't come easy, that's for sure. After dominating the season opener 16-1, all but one of the other victories have been by 1-2 run margins.

After losing Bryce Harper in free agency (he signed with the Padres, lol), Washington is off to a hot start, sitting at 9-1. The Nationals took 2 out of 3 games against the Mets in Washington.

I have this weird OCD thing about playing with default rosters. So I ended up starting over (again) with the default roster a few weeks ago. So no Acuna, no Torres, no Soto in my universe. But so far, I'm loving it.

I broke my trade block house rule and made one spring training trade by sending Kazmir to the Twins for Sanchez. But the CPU doesn't use the trade block in ST and they were going to put Sanchez on waivers anyway, so I'm going to allow it. The Twins upgrade their rotation and I saved a bit of money until Gohara is ready to joint the rotation.

We're 14-8, 2 games behind the Nationals in the East so far. Going to have some work to do to upgrade the bench. The rotation and bullpen are reasonably solid. I don't have a lot of pop, but a solid lineup. The corner OF spots could be areas I look to upgrade closer to the deadline. Pagan has a ton of speed and some power, so he could factor in there, although he doesn't hit lefties well.

Edit: A couple of early-season trades. The Mets picked up Josh Bell (and DFA'd Adrian Gonzalez) and the Indians acquired Mitch Moreland from the Red Sox for Dan Otero.
