I've said for years that SCEA needs to do what EA does for NHL. Allow us to choose and decide which update we want to use. In EA it's called, "tuner sets."

And I agree, last year it was as if we had 12 different versions of MLB The Show by the end of the updates. Out of the box, 500 foot home runs everywhere, then dead ball era... ugh.

So far, I’m really liking Armor and other’s setting of 4 for baserunning, but I’m definitely open to trying new things. I thought 5 felt a bit too fast out of the box, and dropping fielding to 3 makes baserunning seem even faster in comparison, so anything past 5 might seem like warp speed to me, but I’ll certainly give it a try.
Make sure to turn up arm strength as well or else you will feel helpless with those baserunners. I highly recommend starting out with my 6 arm strength 7 baserunner speed balance, then adjusting from there.

I didn't realize NHL did that but it is a fantastic idea especially for gameplay.

My biggest problem this year is playing the outfield! 10-20 percent of the plays are a freakin' adventure. It was never this bad.

I've given up 2 or 3 inside the park home runs on different occasions. The most recent one was a hard grounder hit to Dexter Fowler in right field. He made no attempt to field the ball. Went right by him all the way to the wall. Another time, Ozuna didn't "lock in" to catching a ball and it went right by him to the wall. I've given up a number of triples because my outfielders all of sudden make no attempt on the ball. I'm close to shelving this game or at the very least, allowing the CPU to control my fielding, which would suck. It's bad enough the CPU can make this diving plays in the outfield I could never attempt to pull off.

Is there anyway to remove the patch ? My infielders are froze in place for a split second after the ball is hit.. Before the patch the fielding felt perfect and now its laggy and unresponsive

The only way to remove the patch is to uninstall the game and reinstall. But then you can never stay connected to the Internet or the next patch will just reinstall.

But your problem doesn't sound like a patch issue to me honestly. I didnt allow the last two patches so I can't say for sure though.

I finally admitted defeat. Auto fielding now. Still some weird things, but, I am happier now....which sucks in a way....2018 and we have a baseball game where you are better off not manually fielding.....

Re: I am officially sick and tired of the patches screwing up gameplay!

I know this has nothing to do with the patch, but seeing as it was mentioned... I am so, so, so sick and tired of balls deflecting off the pitcher I could puke.

In inning 5 of a game and already robbed of 2 hits and a run by balls deflected (off the same pitcher mind you) to first or third that it's just ridiculous by now. Sure every once and while, but sometimes it happens multiple times a game or at best every couple of games.

But hey! We got rid of Season mode and ramped up micro transactions right?

                  Way to go sc(EA)!

PS - I could actually live with everything else, really. But losing hits and runs every other game over some BS that they refuse to fix is that Achilles heel, or dare I say "Gamebreaker" that plagues sports games all over. Why is this so hard to fix? Don't these guys play the game too and get sick if it?

If youre on patch 1.07, imo id recommend staying there. From release to that patch, the game was playing beautiful for me. Minor hiccups here and there, but it just felt right. Hitting, pitching, and fielding were all universally good.

Since then, somehow fielding got worse, the ball started hanging up in the outfield, couple of unessecary Pci changes imo. Legend became a joke pitching.

I uninstalled the game the game last night, and am having a blast again with it like i did up until 1.07. There was more changed than whats mentioned in the notes and you cant convince me otherwise. Guessing it falls under the miscellaneous part. I"ll miss some of the cosmetic fixes, and specifically the improvements to sounds of the show, but to me the gameplay accross the board was better at release and the first few patches.

Im strictly offline, so i couldn't speak to if its worth it you're online.

Ive posted countless videos of how bad fielding got. To me it got much worse after more and more patches. The issues of my fielders not picking up the ball, and just general wonkiness seemed to happen more with each patch . Even though it was listed as improvements. It was the only reason i continued downloading patches, and i wish i hadnt.

I would agree with that. I see a lot of weird things in fielding. Lots of warping fielders and just straight up messed up things. It seems to pick up on the weekends and I have only been playing DD so far this year. Even on auto fielding I see a lot more of it for my team than the computer teams which is perplexing.

Don't get me started on Cal Ripken being the worst fielder of all time at 3rd base....lol

If I knew how to post videos....I would post them all. I get pretty tired of people saying it isn't happening to them so it isn't happening to you.....

Most of the time people want to vent and you never know if someone will have some insight or a tip that could help you fix the issue.

I just learned something myself. Started when I was playing Wed....all of a sudden I am was hitting pop ups non stop and even All Star Edmunds started being worthless....a while back I started holding up and pull on everything. That was the only way I could get any power with anyone. Well....now it appears they may have "fixed" that. Just had a huge game after I stopped doing that.

Patches are frustrating because once you get used to how things work and it changes you really have no idea what or how to adjust. I play a ton of games and I know when it is me or if something changed in the game.

Cool yeah. I am still on patch 1.07 and i am strictly an offline player. i have heard such great things about the patches, and then i hear the complete opposite. Im sure i am missing some things by not updating, but i genuinely love how 1.07 plays. I think its great. And any small issues ive come across dont seem to have been completely fixed by the new patches anyway, from what ive read. Seems like half of the people love the patches, and half want to go back. It just seems like i would be trying to fix something that i already think plays great as it is, Risking something i like becoming something i dont like seems like a bad gamble. And on a coin flip at that.

The only thing i will miss is getting Hybrid. I waa looking forward to that. But as awesome as hybrid is, its not worth the expense of how great it is playing now.

I may still update at some point. But i dont see any reason to rush. I can update anytime but i can never go back.

Its not just this game. Its 99% of everything out there. Sometimes these software gurus need to leave well enough alone. Most of them are probably not nearly as smart as they think they are.

I've been having some issues the last couple days with hitting. I have the difficulty set on dynamic and I was at all-star+. In the last 2 days I am down to veteran and scraping the edge of rookie+. I can't seen to buy a hit anymore. I believe I just need some time to adjust to the changes but it does get frustrating to have to adjust to constantly changing game play.
