Re: The Beauty of the Carryover Save Feature

I agree it is the best feature for sports games. Personally I still have a franchise going that was started on MLB 14 on the PS3. I'm in 2024 now and have played all games. I'm a Cubs Fan and when I started it was towards the tail end of the bottoming out. Hell, Joe Maddon wasn't even the manager and in fact I hire Ryne Sandberg as my manager after my first season because he's my all time favorite player. I've won 4 would series in ten years and its still pretty cool that my first one was in the 2016 season. That season was played on MLB 15 and completed in June of 2015 Kris Bryant has been taken from a created prospect on a roster set I DL'd in when MLB 14 came out in 2014 to a guy that just hit his 400 HR for me. Its just an awesome experience.

I use a binder as well. I basically do it for every sports game I play. I’ve got a madden 49ers universe that spans 110+ seasons and dates back to madden 99 on the PS1. I’ve only madden had a carryover feature. On madden I always just treat each new version as a “new” resigme. So my Jerry Rice and Steve Young of 1999 are different guys from the Steve young and Rice of 2000. I’m hoping to have a bunch of different versions of Jimmy G because that’ll mean he’s our QB for many year in real life. However, I consider it the same 49ers franchise. Pretty cool seeing year by year records for over 100 seasons.

I'm going to try and utilize this for the first time. My struggle is always that once the regular season starts I want to play with the Mets opening day roster but I'm trying to fight that urge this year. Since I'm not crazy about the Cano trade it should make it easier to stick with what I've got in my carryover

I wish I had of kept my 2016 carry over going. I get the gotta have the new toy syndrome when it comes to using a current roster. I had this Switch hitting SS I drafted that had a 99 arm str, 90+ fld, 90+ spd and was a good hitter too. Anything hit to the right side on the ground was a sure fire out . I miss that team [emoji22]

Have you seen a doctor for this problem

Kidding. This year may be a very different story. My problem now with my carryover is that Wright is still playing (hits well so I'll switch him to first base and let the ToddFather play third) but his salary is killing the ability to resign Wheeler, who is just as strong as DeGrom and Thor. Matz....not so much...

              I enjoy torturing myself

I played Wright at 1B for the last two months of my 2018 season. I actually managed to win the WS so before advancing to the offseason I dropped all of his attributes to 0 so that he would retire in the offseason and go out on top

I was thinking about carrying over my Dodgers franchise from 18, but after winning 100 games and the WS I may start over in 19 with the newer less talented Dodgers club.

For me this is what makes carrying a franchise over so much fun. The roster management that I never really had to do before.
I'm at the point were almost everyone is out of options so I either send someone down who I don't want to or I risk losing another player to waivers. Also, Bryant is in his free agent year and wants 30M per year. Not to mention the 5 players I drafted that are all in their last or next to last year of arbitration. So I'm going to have to trade some guys or non tender guys that I don't want to in order to keep him and the rest of my team in tact.

                      Like marriage.

Controlling all 30 team gets to be a bear too. I try to put players onto their current 2019 teams (so the White Sox will offer Machado a contract) but then I get alot of retired and overseas players who are still strong in the game available...then how to I select which team Mike Napoli goes to? I did some dice rolls weighted toward certain team's current roster and cap money in Madden, and will likely do the same this time around in the Show. Haven't decided the best path forward yet.

Curious to know since some of you guys try to recreate the real rosters and I can see budgets getting in the way, as it did for me last year.

I just let things play out. I've not had a team become extremely handicapped by a free agent they have signed.

And honestly with how the new budget system works, I'm seeing teams like the Padres and Marlins become bigger spenders in the free agent market due to success on the field resulting in deep playoff runs, including a world series title for the Marlins.
