Definitely disappointing tbat franchise is a now a footnote of a footnote of a separate category.

If they honestly have not made any significant improvements to franchise I may skip this year for the first time since '06 and I have always been a day one buyer. I am just tired of giving these sports gaming companies my money without any consideration to offline franchise players. There's enough gaming options out there that I don't need to indulge their neglect.

Sports gaming is dying for offline players. Sad but true. Card based modes have killed it. Just like video killed the radio star I guess...

i believe it would be DeRosa gone, because Plesac tweeted a image of him working on commentary like a month or so ago.

Very excited by:

1) Contract Extensions in franchise mode. This is a much needed addition

2) Changes to defense

3) Changes to hitting

Cannot wait to see those two streams to see what has changed.

Very intrigued to see what "MARCH TO OCTOBER" is all about. My guess is its a new variation of season mode. Also believe that other franchise improvements will be mentioned in that stream/blog because they go hand in hand. The reason contract extensions is a footnote is because MARCH TO OCTOBER only lasts one season.

Will reserve judgement before the streams but its not looking good for Franchise is it?

Like, contract extensions will be nice, but if thats all they've done in Franchise in 2 years, it's laughable.

Super excited now. Having two new modes is outstanding (sounds like that 'March to October' might be a return of season mode. Also super intrigued by what they are doing with the corresponding 'Moments' mode for DD - but here's hoping they aren't trying to mimic MUT's god awful solo program - that would kill the mode for me.

Contract extensions are also a nice addition for franchise and if coupled with even a few tweaks to current aspects of the mode, will result in an improved mode.

Honestly though, it's going to come down to the changes made to hitting for me; if they catered too much to the "stik skillz" crowd, I'll be quickly going back to 18. (In fairness, I doubt that will be the case).

I gotta believe Directional Hitting will continue to not be dependent on "stick skills' and continue to be ratings driven, coupled with your button timing and pitch recognition skills. I do not use analog nor zone so the whole "more user skill driven" does not cater to me. It caters to E-Sports which is where all the major sports game are heading.

As long as my favorite sports game of all time does not remove those "simulation minded" options that I love I am good.

Color me luke warm till I see the streams though. This is the first time ever in my history of being a Show fan I am not gung ho about the newest version.

It will really come down to presentation and Franchise improvements. And if Road to October allows year to year saves as well.

Looking forward to the streams. And hopefully that will in turn make me look forward to changing my mind and picking up MLBTS 19.

We shall see.

Why keep introducing new modes when those developers could be used to do what we all want and that this game needs, upgrade franchise mode. Ugh

Nice that contract extensions made it in, but saddened this is the only addition to Franchise mode. Terrible that Franchise mode isn't even deserving of its own twitch stream now. Can't say I'm surprised. In 2019, you basically have to play MUT/DD/etc, or accept that you are buying a game with a 10-15 year old franchise mode that is never going to see a significant overhaul. That's the reality of sports gaming nowadays.

March to October sounds like a hybrid season mode versus all inclusive franchise mode.

Frankly, in-season contract extensions are a pretty minor change, and I view them as a negative. Look at real baseball; how many players actually sign extensions before free agency? (Yeah, the current freeze might change that, but it hasn't yet.)

I'm not surprised they neglected franchise mode, nor am I disappointed. This is what I expected. OOTP it is.
