Re: MLB The Show 19 Twitch Stream Schedule Revealed
I'm in year 6 of a carryover from '16 and I don't think budget is the sole culprit. I can go and sign these guys to my team and then trade them to a team for their lowest rated/paid player without issue.
Sure a team or two will be maxed on budget space, but I think roster restriction is the bigger issue as CPU have a bad habit of signing draft picks who are extremely low overall rated and will take years upon years to develop if they ever do.
If they are going to keep the rosters at 90, then they need to adjust the draft so that players have a overall floor min that are either available or that the CPU teams will sign.
EDIT: In response to your addition to your post, I've never had anyone that highly rated be left in free agency. Again though, I don't get that many years deep into a franchise in a single installment of the Show. The best I do is 3 years which I did/will do this year.
Like current free agent class in real life. Yankees can sign harper but dont have a need.
Last year most of my playing was just simming to see if issues were corrected and I found them worst and gave up on the game. I only put 55 hours in with it.

I think most of the vitriol is stemming from the fact that contract extensions appear to be the ONLY thing that was added to Franchise, when there are so many other more important things that could have gone in instead. Extensions are cool and all, but it's not something that really sells a game mode, it's more of a QOL fix. If they had reworked free agency with all new logic and had extensions as part of that feature suite, people would definitely be more receptive. But just adding extensions and nothing else feels like putting a band-aid on a broken leg.Comment

Are you using 30 team control? I'm curious to see that. I do all test sims with 30 team control. There may be a few teams with budget space but they tend not to have a need at that position.

I use single team control.
I think the highest rated player sitting in free agency for me right now is maybe 78 or thereabouts? I'll double check when I get on tonight.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I wasn't condemning anyone for their opinion just thought it was funny how the community shifted from one side of the spectrum to the other in terms of contract extensions, for whatever reasons that may be.
Perhaps I should've usedinstead of
to convey the tone of the post.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Twitch Stream Schedule Revealed
These are times I wished we had another baseball game to look forward to.
I'm having a hard justifying a $59.99US purchase if the only improvements in franchise mode are "contract extensions". I could care less about the other game modes. I'm strictly a franchise only player, and to hear we only have minor updates (single update) to this game mode is a huge disappointment.
SDS needs to hire more people to work on this part of the game. They are in danger of alienating a percentage of their fan base who have been loyal for years and who continue to buy their game each year.Last edited by Peter_OS; 02-06-2019, 10:46 AM.Comment

If the people upset don't purchase then decisions need to be made to bring them back in the fold in future years of it becomes a big enough hit to profits.

And maybe they will if people show disappointment with decisions at time of purchase. That is how people need to express the direction that they want the game to grow.

What I am saying is that they, and this is all companies, have to cater to what sells and how to attract new people.
If expanding franchise brings new people or people lost then it is a business decision.
I am personally on the fence. I spent 55 hours on the game last year and in the past it was only thing I bought a ps3/ps4 for. I tend to get my franchise fix with ootp and have a hard time staying engaged with franchise. The same issues are there and new ones have cropped up.

I play RTTS almost exclusively, so it's nice to see that get some love this year. I am concerned that archetypes are staying put, but will wait until they announce the updates for that.
Interactive training is another wait and see. That could end up being anything from a breath of fresh air after years of the same old drills, to a bloating, "more is more" net detriment. I'm guardedly optimistic, but the 21st can't get here fast enough.
Now, what I DID like, and may end up being excited about, was personalities and relationships. It sounds pointless, but one thing that a lot of career modes get wrong, is neglecting to engage the user on an emotional level. NHL, for instance, is horrible at this: I don't even care about my OWN character as character, and never MIND the wallpaper that fills out the dramatis personae. F1, by contrast, does a lot of subtle things that get you to genuinely care about your teammate: my main is with Sauber, and the first time he and Charles LeClerc both ended up on the same podium, I actually got misty-eyed. There was a genuine sense there of "We did it!", which is a much bigger emotional payoff than just "Yay, I won." So SDS is apparently going for a bit of world-building, and trying to expand the dramatic cast. Sight unseen, I like that they're trying; we'll see what the details look like in a couple of weeks.
On balance, this looks promising, at least for RTTS.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Twitch Stream Schedule Revealed
Well one thing's for sure, February 11th is going to be a very pivotal day for me. If they don't impress greatly, this will be the first year I don't have a baseball game on opening day.
The game play improvements sound promising, but I really think it will end up like last year's catcher thing, basically two extreme outcomes. (The catcher either slowly got up like years past or was up and holding the ball before it hit the ground. Not natural in the slightest. Like an afterthought.)"The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Re: MLB The Show 19 Twitch Stream Schedule Revealed
The optimist in me views the March to October mode as Franchise Mode they have made so many changes to they re-branded it.
The pessimist in me views it as they spent all their time making a dumbed down game mode instead of improving franchise mode.
