Nice that contract extensions made it in, but saddened this is the only addition to Franchise mode. Terrible that Franchise mode isn't even deserving of its own twitch stream now. Can't say I'm surprised. In 2019, you basically have to play MUT/DD/etc, or accept that you are buying a game with a 10-15 year old franchise mode that is never going to see a significant overhaul. That's the reality of sports gaming nowadays.

Come on now. Are we really going to jump to that conclusion and post it like it is a fact?

Let's wait till the stream. Then when we find out it may in fact be the only new addition to franchise mode...then let's take out our pitchforks and torches!

It may be the only new feature but hopefully they made a lot of enhancements to things like:

Player Morale
AI logic on and off the field
Player quirks
In-Game Franchise mode presentation


I am all for criticizing for lack of "Franchise mode love". But I am waiting till I see the stream before I make bold statements LOL.

I'm calling it now, March to October will be a season mode merged with DD.

That would be actually kinda cool. And a way to draw in franchise players to Diamond Dynasty. I would love to play a real season with my DD team.

Look I dig the card collecting aspect of DD.....and it usually stops there because playing with the team becomes super boring offline, and I can't stand online gameplay on The Show. It is piss poor IMO. Simple as that. Always has been. Game is night and day offline.

So if we get a season mode with the ability to use your DD team.....pretty cool. But again who knows what it is. That will be an interesting stream indeed.

I 100% agree on the gameplay point. Something about the online lag just ruins all the baserunning/fielding interactions.

It would be cool as long as you could do a regular season mode as well. Unfortunately I don't see old season mode with multi-year capabilities coming back or franchise mode adding more options.

i believe it would be DeRosa gone, because Plesac tweeted a image of him working on commentary like a month or so ago.

Makes sense, unless they added a 4th person to the booth... But that's highly unlikely.

No you are right, I shouldn't jump to that conclusion. The advantage of not preordering is, I can wait until I have all the facts before actually buying the game. But at the moment, all the evidence would point to there being no other major additions to franchise mode. Why else would they remove the Franchise stream and make it a sidenote for the "new" season mode if there were major changes? All signs point that it's going to be the same old mode, if there were major changes they would have a dedicated stream for it.

Remember the days when the Show would release a list of all the improvements in the game? Something like "in season contract extensions" would have been a small footnote in 200+ improvements. Now its apparently the cornerstone of what improved in franchise mode. It's just disappointing that it came to this.

Maybe it's blind optimism, but perhaps March to October could be online franchise and seasons wrapped together? So multiple people can play the same single season? Literally nothing to back that up, but you'd think there'd have to be a significant change to Seasons for them to think they could take it out for a year, bring it back with a different name and convince anyone it's a new game mode?



I'd imagine that's definitely what that franchise-esque screenshot was for though, with the online rewards for winning the WS

Right. I’ve been kind of waiting/hoping for them to do something similar to Madden with CFM. If this is it I’ll be super excited.

That being said, if SDS did overhaul and improve upon Franchise mode (the only mode I play), and their curious marketing ploy is to eliminate talking about it in order to surprise us, then I will be pleasantly ecstatic, and will throw my money at them to buy the game.

You guys are right. I guess my only fear is- With everygame at launch these days, there are always issues and things that need to be updated and patched aswell.

What about the legacy issues with Franchise mode- have those been addressed? or if a new issue pops up- Can i even be optimistic and believe they will patch it ?

Kind of hope it's something like this, or having alternative broadcast options depending on the presentation mode.

I'm not crazy about DeRosa, but it would seem like a massive waste of time recording and programming all that dialogue to then scrap it all after one year (didn't they do that with Harold Reynolds though?). For a team with limited resources, you'd surely not want to keep doing that? (obviously it could be out of their control, but either way, commentary is a hugely time consuming)

So franchise mode now isn't even on last, it's a side note at the bottom of the thing that's last, bundled in with commentary and presentation? Hard to be crazy optimistic about that tbh

Presentation/commentary is really built for franchise. It's truncated in DD and (sorta) in RTTS. For example, the game stories element they added to commentary last year did an awful lot to add to the franchise mode presentation in-game - giving each game a little different flavor.

"Presentation" could even consist of items like pre-game/post-game shows and things of that ilk as well - two items that are very much franchise-centric.

I'll admit that I am more optimistic than most (just my nature), but to me, it makes sense to couple them and I don't really see it as a "red flag" pertaining to a potential lack of new franchise stuff.

In all fairness armour. I remember quite a few people saying "wait for the stream" the last two years, and there not being too many needle mover features that they left out.

I'm not really feeling it this year. Maybe a great RttS stream will change my mind but it is looking like '19 will be a hard pass for me this year.
