I think its an on-field reporter or someone in studio.

Maybe hoping is the better term to use.

I've always thought that a NBA2K style presentation would be cool. Start off in the MLB Tonight studio with a guy like Greg Amsinger and go back to him afterward for analysis of the game.

If they had real, substantial franchise mode improvements it would get its own stream. C'mon, they aren't going to spring changes (that could get people to buy the game) as a surprise.

They did squat to franchise (other than adding something that rarely happens in real life), and if you care about that mode you need to vote with your wallet.

Commentary will continue to be stale no matter what they do. All that talk about dynamic commentary in 18 with things related to your season being discussed? Where was it? I'm in mid-September 2018 of my Franchise and I hear the same tired stuff every single game. Every game. Ambush tactics, when someone was drafted, my hats off to him, a big ole bucket of sassy, everyone knows that guy's name and kids are buying his jersey. No. Stop. Kids are not buying Tommy Hunter's jersey every single time I have the man pitch in a game for me.

Ugh.

Now you guys see why I said they should just put out a feature/fact sheet. All of this guessing and speculation. This would have been a great time to say here is our feature set with short explanations, like they use to do. Just more cryptic non-sense, why in the hell are there asterisks for presentation commentary? Hiding your commentary presentation hasn't worked for you in the past, it has only gained dislike when you unveiled the person or feature. Get off your horse and let us know.

So by looking at the twitch schedule wordings some modes get things added and the wordage " more" written after it..i see franchise update simply says contract extensions..and thats it..there is no " and more" verbage after it. So is it possible that all they have literally done was add contract extensions and thats it? doesnt seem that would be true..sure hope not.

Come on now. Are we really going to jump to that conclusion and post it like it is a fact?

Let's wait till the stream. Then when we find out it may in fact be the only new addition to franchise mode...then let's take out our pitchforks and torches!

It may be the only new feature but hopefully they made a lot of enhancements to things like:

Player Morale
AI logic on and off the field
Player quirks
In-Game Franchise mode presentation


I am all for criticizing for lack of "Franchise mode love". But I am waiting till I see the stream before I make bold statements LOL.

I agree we should reserve judgment.

....but....do you find it a little disconcerting that there isn't an entire stream devoted to franchise but that its seemingly relegated to a footnote?

I know it wasn't asked directly to me, but as I said before. I think we're going to learn that "MARCH TO OCTOBER" is a form of season mode and that most of the features/improvements within that mode will also hold true for franchise mode.

Contract Extensions is a footnote because it wouldn't hold true for a single season that's played in MARCH TO OCTOBER mode.

Let's face it. For every offline franchise guys who stops buying they have double that amount picking the game up and jumping into DD every year. Card mode games are a train that ain't gonna stop moving. Franchise modes are dead. It took me 4 years to accept it but I am starting to come to terms that sports games might just be something that aren't apart of my life anymore at some point.

I am of the same thought, this new mode will be a hybrid version of season mode. But the old-school man in me wonders about farm system development, scouting, progressing players, drafting, etc...those are such key variables with a true "GM mode". DD looks at this season - GM/franchise looks beyond. That's my concern, that this mode won't really satisfy what I want to see.

That's my $.02 though, I'm sure there will be THOUSANDS of players playing the mode and enjoying the tar out of it and rightfully so.
