Re: MLB The Show 19 First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
About the pitcher that got hit in the head and was out for a month or two... did he shake it off and continue the game or was he taken out of the game automatically?Comment

I can't speak specifically to the one that Bullitt showed, but anytime that has occurred when I'm playing they are taken out of the game due to injury.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I’m surprised they didn’t just kick him off the mound and carry on playing.Comment

I just don't play well in the rain. I feel pressed as I'm attacking the zone more with pitches and swinging more freely at the plate. I feel as though I have to rush to get the game in before the delay comes.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 19 First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)
Do any of you deliberately shorten your swing and is it effective? I've had a few occasions recently where in the process of check-swinging I inadvertently blooped the ball and was able to get to first safely and it got me thinking about how effective it would be sometimes to not take a big hack at every pitch that I took a swing at.Comment

I've gotten hits from check swinging a few times, but while doing so, hitting the ball at all was unintentional and I'm guessing getting a base hit from it was pure luck.Comment

I’ve never deliberately shortened/checked my swing to get a hit or make contact but like you I’ve checked a swing due being fooled by the pitch only to have it result in a hit.
I like to think I’m that good at hitting but I’m not lol

Nothing tougher than trying to get a starting pitcher thru 4 or 5 innings when he's laboring with his pitches.
Carlos Martinez right now has no command of his fastball and his breaking pitches are flat. My bullpen has been taxed the last few days so Martinez has to get through at least 4 innings, although coming in we needed 6 or 7 at least.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

That's why I love my current rotation. I've got my 5 starters plus Sean Newcomb who is really another starter sitting at long relief. It really helps for the situations that you described.Comment

Woody Keller is just as bad at judging check swings as he is at calling balls and strikes.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

First time I've seen this, was pretty sweet. Had Bregman playing first and he made a sweet double play.
