The difference in difficulty levels in the Show isn't giving CPU players a ratings boost/cheat to make it more difficult. Instead its tied to the game mechanics meaning your timing window when hitting will be smaller, your margin for error when using say meter pitching will get smaller and the CPU/AI is quicker to recognize patterns you fall into pitching and hitting.
    Perfect, I'm sold.

The beauty of this game is it plays so well for all skill levels, and slider adjustments really only need to be minimal. Every other sports game on the planet should take lessons.

I wish the fan chants were more situational. Stanton is batting .194 with 7 homers and 24 RBIs and also leads the league in strikeouts at the end of May. Seems a little odd to hear the “MVP” chant every home game.

I just had a missed catch in foul territory for what was a foul ball called an error. I don't think I've ever seen that before.

Re: MLB The Show 19 First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

I think these days little things that make this game so damn good are often overlooked.

              Example:

I was playing the Mariners and we were facing Tajuan Walker. His 4th best pitch was a cutter. He hasn't thrown this pitch all game, so I've wrote it off thinking that he has no confidence in this pitch for whatever reason.

We are in the 6th inning of a close ball game and I have the bases loaded trailing by a run, Kolten Wong is at the plate with two outs. On a 3-2 pitch Walker throws what I think is a fastball on the inner part of the plate and I'm salivating thinking I'm going to drive this ball. Turns out, after 87 pitches, Walker decideds to throw the cutter and Wong gets jammed and hits a weak pop up to the first baseman. I was both annoyed and appreciative of the game's AI. In this at-bat I had saw nothing but fastballs and changeups. On a 3-2 count with 2 outs and bases loaded, Walker decided to throw his 4th best pitch and not only that, for the first time all game.

That is the cat and mouse interaction between pitcher and hitter that I think is far too often lost and overlooked in this game. That is the level of intelligence and baseball savvy the AI possesses, at least on higher levels (I can't speak to other levels). That is the beauty of the game of baseball and the Show. The little things, the battles at the plate or on the basepaths, are captured so damn well that I often wonder if we take them for granted.

              Anyways, just wanted to share.

I’m trying this tonight, at least with pitching. I’ve played this game since2008 and never remember being able to dominate the cpu on HOF. After the patch back in July I started striking cpu out like crazy and a lot times they just look at three pitches right down the middle

Word of warning, Legend is VERY unforgiving. I've returned back to HOF, at least temporarily. I might try Legend again at some point again but only if I knock the contact slider down 1 for the CPU.

lol. I changed to legend in 2nd inning vs pirates and the 8 hole hitter hit a bomb first pitch. Moved back down to HOF

I feel ya, when the game first came out I was all in on finally playing on legend this year and was making some good progress, but I was still a little over my head, especially with max pitch speeds, and I never could fine tune my sliders how I wanted. I had to take a break from gaming for a while with my busy schedule and once I came back to the game I had to man up and face the fact that HOF is where I belong this year. I'll try legend again next year...

Nothing like knocking the starting pitcher out of the game early.

Just knocked Chris Archer out in the 1st inning! He did record two strikeouts, but put up 5 runs on 5 hits, drew a walk. We had a homerun, 3 doubles, and a single in those hits.

                        Oh what a feeling.

There may be more hit types in 19 but the game is very repetitious with a core group of them and really gives the impression there really are not many hit types in the game.
