Cardinals are 6 games out with 10 games left

With 10 games left in the regular season, the Cardinals find themselves 6 games back of the wildcard and unless the unthinkable happens, will miss the playoffs for the 2nd time in the last 3 years. Two years ago, the Cardinals finished 81-81 and missed the playoffs breaking a streak of 6 straight seasons of playing in October.

The Cardinals dropped 2 of 3 games with the Reds which really ended the hope of playing October baseball. The Cardinals have taken the first 3 against the Diamondbacks, but the Cubs, Reds, and Rockies continue to win as well preventing the Cards from closing the gap.

It's been a rough 2024 season for the Cardinals who battled key injuries all year and just poor baseball most of the season and have really placed their focus on the 2025 season and what they need to do to not be in this position next year.

You going to carry this over to 20? I'm torn on whether to keep going in my Mets franchise (Year 4 - 2021) or start fresh.

Unless there is something drastic that prevents me from carrying over, then I'll continue this franchise into '20.

I am so heavily invested in this franchise and while its nice they are possibly, adding real minor leaguers from the get go, I already have real minor leaguers, plus international free agents, plus future draft classes in my franchise.

I was concerned the move to 26 man rosters may cause an issue, but apparently it will work with carryover franchises.

Having a hard time playing my Braves franchise. I was going to keep rolling with 19 this year, but I’ll jump to 20 if real minor leaguers are actually in.

Yeah, I hit a wall recently with The Show. Not surprising as I've been playing nearly daily since 18 was released. Going to take the rest of the month off and see where things shake out with 20. I'd be more than fine staying with 19 and waiting for 21 to release on the PS5/Xbox/Switch, but I also know me and once I see 20 out there being played, I'll want to have the latest version.

well, that about does it for the year-end wrap-up... time for the postseason to begin!!!!
With progression being linked to performance as well, I'm extremely curious to see the trends for some of your players. Like if Odor is at 99 power or where K Davis contact attributes are at given the average. Would you mind sharing that MLB?

The Dodgers sweep the Braves at home by scores of 4-0, 4-3 and 6-4. 8 home runs by the Dodgers over the 3 game span allowed a good many home fans to claim some free souvenirs. The Braves have possibly the fastest team the Dodgers played this year as they stole 4 bases on 4 attempts, which hasn’t happened all season

Walker Buehler, Julio Urias and Josh Fields all notched wins while Kenley Jansen earned saves 32 and 33 on the year.

The 3 Braves losses and 3 wins in a row by the Rockies even them at the top of the race for the Wild Card.

AAA Oklahoma City lost CP Joe Broussard to the 60 Day IL with a fractured arm.

Next up for the Dodgers are 4 games against the visiting Nationals before receiving a day off. Projected pitching matchups are:
                Game 1: Colton Stern (13-5, 2.71) v Stephen Strasberg (6-10, 4.63)
                Game 2: Clayton Kershaw (9-5, 2.32) v Wil Crowe (0-1, 5.79)
                Game 3: Buehler (8-2, 2.32) v Max Scherzer (6-4, 3.99)
                Game 4: Urias (11-3, 2.74) v Cesar Vargas (2-6, 4.77)

Royals slam Mets, now 2 away from win streak record

KANSAS CITY, MO - The Royals continue their winning ways as they beat the Mets 5-1 this afternoon. Adalberto Mondesi had a big game, going 3/4 on the plate, and the Royals staff combined yet again to be excellent, holding the Mets scoreless until the 8th.

Royals manager Ned Yost had this to say on the Royals winning streak "We owe this all to the team. Everyone involved from Adalberto to Whit, to Trevor, to Jake, every single player here is responsible for this winning streak. I know these guys have the talent to do this more regularly."

Many are praising GM Mike Friend and team president Scott Leius Jr for staying pat at the deadline, as the Royals have now played themselves into a playoff spot. While the likelihood of reaching Cleveland is low, the Royals are giving their fans something to be excited for late into August.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I was going to give you guys all games for the postseason but seeing as we are a month out from the launch of 20 I want to get through the postseason and offseason before launch day. so here is a divisional series update.

Oakland swept the Angels to advance to the ALCS. game three went into the 14th inning before being decided. we scored four runs in the top of the inning to secure it.

every other series in both leagues went the distance.

Boston outlasted the Twins to advance to play the A's in the ALCS.

The Dodgers outlasted the Mets to advance to the NLCS.

the biggest and only real upset of the postseason so far was seeing the Cubs choke away a 2-0 lead and lose the series to the Rockies.

So your ALCS matchup is the Boston Red Sox Vs. the Oakland A's

your NLCS matchup will be the Colorado Rockies Vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers.

we have a chance to see a repeat of the 2019 World Series in my franchise if the dodgers and the A's can both win their respective series.

I will do my best to bring you game wrap-ups from each series as they are played out.

if I can't or don't have time to do this I will be bringing you every game of the world series at the very least.

well, considering I have simulated up until my first game of the ALCS and having tomorrow off and wife working and nothing planned outside the house... I will no doubt be able to get at least the first two games of the NLCS updated and out for you here.
                        ho
Also with my wife having to work, Thursday gives me another whole day to get games in. who knows how deep into this part of the postseason I can get in two days by myself!!!!!

see you all right back here Wednesday afternoon ET.

Kansas stomps the Orioles 9-2, end fantastic month on a high note

KANSAS, MO - The Royals stomped the Orioles 9-2 earlier this evening off of a monster night from Whit Merrifield.

Merrifield went 4 for 5 at the plate last night with 2 home runs and 3 RBI's and dazzled with the glove in center field robbing a sure home run as well as making some excellent plays in the outfield. Most of the Royals offense this game came in the 7th and 8th innings where they combined for 6 runs.

This caps off an excellent month for the Royals (75-62), which saw the team almost win out the whole month, losing only 3 games. They went on separate winning streaks of 14, 7, and 4 throughout the month, and are now in a heated battle with the Rays and Astros for a wildcard spot.

Many are curious if the change to winning ways will affect how GM Mike Friend will be approaching the offseason. Rumors suggest that they may add, but Friend has been consistent that they will not be evaluating on win/loss and instead taking a deeper dive at the players, evaluating if they feel comfortable with how they project for the next season. With an apparent willingness to move core pieces like Perez and Merrifield, it will be interesting to see what the Royals do in September and throughout the offseason.

Cardinals take 3 out of 4 from Diamondbacks

The Cardinals took 3 out of 4 against the Diamondbacks in St.Louis, but were unable to gain any ground on the top 3 in the wildcard standings.(Cubs, Reds, Rockies) With 9 games left to play, the Cardinals are 7 games out of the wildcard and are unofficially (mathematically) eliminated from postseason play for the 2nd time in the last 3 years.

The silver lining in all of this is the Cardinals are getting to evaluate younger talent in these last handful of games and have seen some extremely bright spots in guys such as Luken Baker, Eddie Ortiz, and Nolan Gorman.

The downside, besides the fact they are missing the playoffs, is that the depth of the bullpen still remains a sore spot as they are getting little to no production from the likes of Johan Oviedo, Ryan Sherriff, and Julian Alvarez.

The Cardinals will finish out these 9 games likely sticking with the younger players to get a sense of just how good the depth is in the organization, and what areas (relief pitching) they need to focus on this winter.

2024 has been a frustrating experience, but hopefully the depth they developed due to injuries and the moves they made in an effort to re-tool will pay dividends for the 2025 season.

But for now, we will just enjoy watching potential future St.Louis Cardinals display their talents.

Last night I simmed through a bunch of seasons and something that bothered me was how high every players overall was. In the MLB nobody on the bench or bullpen was below 80 overall, and just about every AAA player was above 75, and most were actually in the 80s but low morale dropped them. I also had budgets turned on and they were still able to pay all of these players.

Is there someway to prevent this besides going through and editing players to have lower overalls? It's not a game breaker or anything but it's weird seeing so many high overall players, and some not even playing.

It's mostly an issue with how many A/B prospects the game develops.

Potentials need to be adjusted to have a higher chance to be to the low end of their respective potential (e.g 77-81 overall players should be a hell of a lot more common potential wise than the 85 potential 72 overall left fielder who is in every single draft class).

                                More C's less B's
