I use the trade finder to get an idea of what the market is for a certain player, but I don't limited myself to what a team lists on there. I honestly don't pay much attention to the trade block.

Gotcha. I pretty much do the same thing but player comp guys that are similar to those that are in the other thread (started 2021 a few days ago).

Anyways; a follower of this as always and I say do what it takes to snag that WC slot$ The Giants and Marlins are 3-1 in the WS since getting that spot. Weirder things have happened!

I'm trying but injuries played a part this year (losing Wisdom and Fabregas really hurt) and we just keep finding ways to lose a game. Just one of those years.

Cardinals place Carlos Martinez on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed Carlos Martinez on the 10 Day IL due to an elbow injury.

Martinez left in the 5th inning of his start against the Cubs after experiencing discomfort in his elbow. It was determined later that Martinez has a ligament issue and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks.

Martinez is 12-5 on the year with a 3.02 ERA.

Dakota Hudson is being recalled from Memphis to take the vacant spot in the rotation.

Cardinals place Andrew Knizner on 60 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed catcher Andrew Knizner on the 60 Day IL due to a broken hand.

Knizner suffered the injury in the 8th inning if the series finale against the Cubs.

It’s expected that Knizner will miss the rest of the season.

Knizner was platooning with top prospect Devon Snow after Carson Kelly was traded to the Padres.

This is just another injury for a team that has had their fair share this season.

Matt Wieters was recalled from AA Springfield where he was mentoring Julio Rodriguez

Cardinals acquire J.J. Bleday from Yankees

The Cardinals and Yankees have struck an after deadline deal that will bring highly touted outfield prospect J.J. Bleday to St.Louis.

            Cardinals get:

            OF/1B - J.J. Bleday (23 years old) **Top 50 Prospect**

            Yankees get:

IF - Edmundo Sosa (28 years old)
            OF - C.J. McElroy (29 years old)
LHP - Casey Crosby (32 years old)

J.J. Bleday is a player/prospect the Cardinals front office has coveted for a while now and was asked about in recent trades with the Yankees, but the Yankees wouldn't part with the young right fielder. Now as the Yankees are in contention for the playoffs and stocked with prospects but not enough role players, they found themselves willing to part with Bleday in exchange for depth and a much needed LHP for the bullpen.

Bleday will be sent to Memphis where he will assume the everyday right fielding job from Conner Capel who is being recalled to St.Louis. The Cardinals will be patient with Bleday, as he just made the jump from AA to AAA in the Yankees organization. The plan is to have him play a full year in Memphis in 2025 and look to call him up in 2026 as potentially the everyday right fielder, especially should Jo Adell's struggles continue.

For the Yankees they are getting depth at centerfield which they desperately needed after a recent trade sent Randy Arozarena away. McElroy will bring a switch hitting bat, a tremendous glove, and speed to a Yankees team that needs defense and speed in its lineup, as they are prominent on being the Bronx bombers.

Edmundo Sosa is a utility infielder capable of playing all 4 positions. He brings pop (Yanks love pop) and a solid defender. He does struggle with swing and misses, but will provide depth on the bench which the Yankees are lacking, as they struggle when an injury strikes the infield.

Casey Crosby is probably the most prized asset in this trade for the Yankees who need quality left handed pitching out of the pen. They signed Jake McGee in the offseason but he was just recently designated for assignment as he struggled to the tune of a plus 8 ERA and 2+ WHIP in 34 innings at the big league level. They were able to option him to AAA where his ERA is still 6+ and a WHIP over 1.7.

Crosby will hopefully be the left handed shut down pitcher the Yankees had at one time in Aroldis Chapman. Yes he's 32 years old, but he is just now finding his groove and due to his delay in getting to the bigs, he is still controllable for 3 more years, meaning the chances of him requiring huge money are slim, which means he is a perfect candidate for a risk/reward trade.

The Cardinals in corresponding moves recalled Conner Capel and Samuel Franco from Memphis. Franco will platoon with Tommy Edman at short as they await the return of Patrick Wisdom who is due back at the beginning of September, if the Cardinals don't decide to just shut him down for the year, since the playoffs are at best a long shot.

The Rangers continue to struggle. The offense has stabilized but the pitching staff has really nose dived going from near the top in team ERA to near the bottom.

It looked like things were turning around as we took 3 of 4 from the Angels but we limped into the All Star break getting swept by the Twins in Minnesota and losing 3 of 4 to Houston at home in Arlington to fall 7.5 games out in the AL West and 5 games out of the wild card.

Rougned Odor continues to have a monster season. Hitting .333 with 19 HR and 60 RBI with an OPS of 1.010 while slugging .630 second only to Freddie Freeman in the league for both those categories.

Joey Gallo has really struggled for the last month or so. After hitting well over .300 the first 2 months of the season and leading the league in HR and RBI his production has fallen flat and his average has dropped to .258 for the season.

The ace of the staff Mike Minor has also struggled in his last several starts after being lights out the first 2 months of the season. The rest of the starting staff and bullpen have been inconsistent to say the least.

Devon Snow's first career walk off hit

A tied game at 5 in the bottom of the 11th and Devon Snow delivers his first career walk off hit, a double down the left field line scoring Jose Adolis Garcia from first, to give the Cardinals a 6-5 win over the visiting Indians.

Cardinals sweep Phillies to win 5th straight

Don't look now but the Cardinals are back to within 6 games of the wildcard with roughly 30 games left on the schedule.

The Cardinals defeated the Phillies in Sunday's finale to sweep the Phillies in Citizens Bank Park and have now won 5 straight, after they took both games of a 2 game series with the Indians in Busch.

The Cardinals got solid pitching out of their top 3 starters (Funkhouser, Wacha, and Martinez) and the bullpen held firm to prevent any chance of comeback by the struggling Phillies who have now lost 9 straight.

The Cardinals now trail the Padres by 6 games for the 2nd wildcard spot and 7 1/2 games behind the Reds, who the Cardinals will face for a 3 game series in Cincinnati.

Is this addition by subtraction for the Cardinals? Not sure, but the excitement has returned to the fanbase and the clubhouse as they continue to try to make one last push to get into the postseason.

Well, I should have had this season (2020) over a long time ago. considering that I had six months off due to medical issues. however, I didn't get it done and still have the final five regular-season games to complete before heading to the postseason, and hopefully my third straight world series title.

with a little less than two months before the release of 20, I hope to get into 2021 before that date. I'm excited to see about the franchise relocation and rebranding stuff. I might move the A's somewhere and maybe even redo their team colors.

I'm hoping over the next two days to get the regular season over get my final season update done here and to proceed into the postseason and start my march to another championship.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

ok, going into the final weekend of the season it is getting wild. all races have been decided except the NL West and wild card and al wild card. all these races could come down to the final day maybe.

Currently, in the NL West, the Diamondbacks lead the division by a single game. The Dodgers that team that holds that second spot in the division and so the top spot in the NL Wild card race.

The Rockies are holding down the second wild-card spot in the NL just two games back of the Diamondbacks in the division.

The Diamondbacks are going head to head with the Dodgers in the final series to close it out.

The Rockies are closing out against the Padres. that may be a foregone conclusion to that series.

Over in the AL, the wild card is still alive and kicking. The mariners are the only team to clinch a spot. The angels hold down the second spot with the Jays right behind them just one game back.

Seattle has the easier of the paths as they play the worst team in the majors in the Rangers to close it out. The Angels have to tangle with the Houston Astros to close it out.

should be a fun weekend to end it

Patrick Wisdom to return this weekend for Dodgers series

The Cardinals got good news after Monday's game against the Reds in Cincinnati. Reigning National League MVP Patrick Wisdom will return to the lineup on Friday when the Cardinals open a 3 game weekend series with the Dodgers in St.Louis.

Patrick Wisdom had been on the IL due to a broken hand and was expected not to return until September, if at all, but his hand healed quicker than anticipated. With the Cardinals making a late push for the wildcard, adding the 32 year old's bat back into a lineup that has been reconfigured in his absence, will certainly be another boost.

Its August 6th, and we are officially tied for the AL Central lead (58-54) with the White Sox. Just as the experts predicted, the White Sox have fallen off and the Twins have been playing good baseball as of late, especially on the road.

We were 7.0 games out at the end of June, but we are now in a dead heat with the sluggish Sox, who have gone just 9-15 since the All-Star Break. Meanwhile, we have gone 14-9 and our pitching has turned a corner. We made a trade in mid-July with the Cardinals for Luke Weaver (gave up Fernando Romero and Gabriel Moya). His first 3 starts were atrocious, but he has bounced back nicely in his last one. We lost Jose Berrios for the next month and half or so though, so Kyle Gibson was moved back into the rotation. We also acquired Sergio Ramos, as the deadline, from the Marlins for 1B Lewin Diaz.

Our offense has been in a funk lately, especially at home. We will get CJ Cron, Johnathan Schoop and Marwin Gonzalez all back within the next two weeks. So hopefully that will help solidy the bottom portion of my order. Nelson Cruz continues to be a monster, with a .290 AVG, 52 homers and 99 RBI at this point.

We will have plenty of questions to answer in the off-season, but for now, it should be a fun ride for the next month and a 1/2, and hopefully bringing playoff baseball back to Minnesota.

WOW!!!! WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! we could end up having a very exciting finish to my 2020 season. starting off would might have a tie for second place in the AL Wild Card race.

going into the final day of the season the Mariners are firmly in first place in the AL Wild Card race (91-70). The Angel are in second place (87-40). The Blue Jays are currently just one game back of the Angels (86-75).

So if the Astros manage to defeat the Angels and the Blue Jays get swept by the Rays to end their season we will have a one-game playoff to see who plays the Mariners for determining who goes on to play me in the divisional round.

Oh and think that is crazy... hold on to your baseball caps fellas. over in the NL. it gets even more crazy going into the final day of the season.

The Dodgers, Diamondbacks and the Rockies have all clinched playoff appearances.

Currently, the Dodgers have taken a one-game lead over the Diamondbacks in the division. The Rockies are also tied for second place with the Diamondbacks just one game back of the dodgers in the division.

This means that both the Diamondbacks and Rockies are tied or the wild card lead headed into the final day of the season.

So again we we go. if the Diamondbacks defeat the Dodgers on the final day and the Rockies defeat the Padres on the final day we will have one hell of a mess to clean up to figure out who is going where to start the postseason.

we could only DREAM of a finish to the season like this in real life. wow. this will be exciting to see how this all pans out.
