The Cardinals have designated 37 year old Matt Carpenter for assignment. They will now have 10 days to either trade him, assign him to the minors, or outright release him. The thought is they will just release him and Carpenter will retire.

The Cardinals parted ways with Carpenter in the offseason where he landed with the Braves. After the Braves cut him loose, the Cardinals re-acquired him as a backup to Jon Singleton and Patrick Wisdom at the corners. Unfortunately the reunion is going to be short lived as Carpenter just isn't the same player he was in 2021 before his shin injury. Carpenter is currently hitting just .197 with 3 homeruns and 17 RBI's. His glove work in the field has left something to be desired and is essentially only valuable to the Cards at first base.

The Cardinals informed the other 29 clubs a week or so ago that Carpenter was available but the market is dry for the 37 year old. It seems both parties are content on Carpenter hanging up his spikes.

Paul DeJong is expected to be recalled from Memphis to take Carpenter's roster spot.

Hire him as a hitting coach 😉 lol

“Brutal” can be applied either way in my dictionary haha! Thought it was the perfect adjective for that reason. When I won my game earlier in the year with a walk off GS by Hornsby it was insanity! Hornsby, who is usually a set the bat down guy, even jumped with bat and hands held high ending with a significant flick/toss of the bat, prompting me to do the same with the controller haha! Awesome feeling lol

Love those moments on The Show.

I just played the Rockies at Coors field and hit like I never have before. I even double checked that my difficulty setting had not somehow been changed. Haha.

          I won... 18-1.

Cards slumping. 8 1/2 games out of first

The Cardinals are in a funk right now and find themselves 8 1/2 games behind the Pirates for the Central division crown. They are however only 1 1/2 games out of the wildcard spot.

After splitting a 4 game series with the Nationals, the Cardinals followed that up by splitting a 4 game series with the Phillies. 3 of the 4 games went extra innings absolutely taxing the bullpen.

The Cardinals have a 3 game weekend series in Wrigley against the Cubs to close out June as they look to get back into the race.

Absolutely frustrating right now. We just are finding ways to lose a ballgame.

Jay's start the 2020 season vs the 2x defending champ Red Sox
2020 Season Update: So much more time to play now that my student teaching is done! All ive done these last 2 weeks is plunged into the show.

The Jays played a few games above .500 ball for the first half of the season. The bullpen troubles were fixed, but the rotation took a bit of a dive. Bumgarner was a great addition as he kept the rotation and bullpen afloat by consistently going deep in games while most of the rotation struggled. Overall, the Jays picked up in August and Septemeber. Through 106 games the Jays were 55-51, they finished the regular season 89-73. With 12 games left in the season the Jays were tied for the 2nd WC spot with the A'a and Rays. 6 games left vs TB, and a 3 game set VS Oak. Jays were 6-3 in those games and clinched the WC spot by one game. What a turnaround!

The Jays made a mid-season decision to call up top prospect Nate Pearson, who performed well for the Jays in 13 starts for the Jays (5-6, 3.76)

Bumgarner was the ace we needed (15-10, 3.23, 247IP)
Stro and Sanchez both hovered right at a 4 ERA (3.95, 4.12)

The pen was great as the Jays had 4 BP arms with a sub 2.5ERA

Vlad continues to be among the best hitters in baseball (.351, 29 HRS, 101RBI) and was snubbed of an AS appearance.

Bo Bichette had a big year 2 despite only playing 107 because of a broken ankle (.295, .356OBP, 10HR, 44RBI). Both look to be part of the core.

                  Zobrist was a great offseason addition as a leadoff hitter (.306, .386OBP, 9HR, 59RBI)

                  Teoscar had a huge bounceback after an abysmal 2019 (.267AVG, 27HR, 90RBI)

Gyorko came down to earth and Tellez was horrible. Prompting the Jays to make a trade deadline acquisition of Jose Abreu from the last place White Sox. Unfortunately 30 games into his Jays career he tore his ACL diving for a ball. He is still under contract for 2021 and looks to be the Jays opening day 1B.

Overall the lineup did really well and outside of Gyorko and Jansen nobody was horrible. Drury put together another awesome utility role slash of (.282AVG, 15HR, 62RBI).

The Jays will take on the Red Sox in the one game WC playoff. Bumgarner Vs Chris Sale. The opening day matchup. I will update soon!

Mike Lowe Sliders, play first 5 games of season, the one game a series. Love it!

                    BREAKING NEWS
Cardinals, A's, Giants, and Nationals pull off four team trade

The Cardinals, A's, Giants, and Nationals were involved in a four team trade that will send Matt Carpenter to Oakland, Fernando Sandoval to San Francisco, and Brandon Belt to the Nationals.

Here is how the deal shakes out:

                    Cardinals Get:

2B/IF - Edmundo Sosa (he returns after being traded earlier this year to Oakland)
                    RP - Austen Williams

                    A's Get:

                    1B - Matt Carpenter
                    LF - Eddie Casilla
                    SP - Zac Gallen

                    Nationals Get:

                    1B: Brandon Belt

                    Giants Get:

                    OF - Fernando Sandoval

The Cardinals who had designated Matt Carpenter for assignment earlier, found a destination for him, and not just a destination, but a place where he will play (DH) and is in the playoff mix strongly with the A's. They return Edmundo Sosa and RP Austen Williams. Sosa was reluctantly parted with in the Yairo Munoz trade earlier, but is now back "home". Austen Williams will be another attempt to strengthen weak bullpen depth throughout the organization.

The A's get Matt Carpenter who will be the left handed bat their lineup has been looking for. They also get Eddie Casilla to add to their plethora of outfield depth. Zac Gallen the Cardinals sort of forced upon the A's if they wanted the deal to be completed.

The Giants get Fernando Sandoval who will immediately be their everyday right fielder, a weakness for this club. The Giants may not have enough time to make up their deficit to get into the playoffs this year, but they are poised to be a strong contender in 2023.

The Nationals get the first baseman they have wanted/needed all season in Brandon Belt. Belt was displaced when the Giants signed Freddie Freeman in the offseason. Belt will try to help the Nats claim the NL East crown (currently 2 games out)

Cardinals fans are going to be distraught over the trading of Carpenter, but for those fans who respect Carpenter, its for the best. He deserves one more chance to play in October and there was no guarantee that would happen in St.Louis this year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Cardinals take 3 out of 4 in Cincinnati ending their roadtrip winning 5 out of 6! After the Reds jumped on Micholas early in game 1 while collectively shutting out the Redbirds offense, handing them yet another thrashing ( the Reds have done that a few times now), it would be all Cardinals the rest of the weekend! Ending with a 14-2 victory on Sunday in a game where the Cards were truly firing on all cylinders! They seem to finally be playing the kind of top notch baseball everyone knows they’re capable of! Unfortunately so are the Braves and everyone else fighting for a Wildcard claim! Getting close to the end of August and still 5 out from a Wildcard! The September schedule for St Louis is quite a gauntlet of playoff teams too, including 7 games against the Cubs! One thing is for sure, if they do manage to make the postseason, there will be no doubt they deserve to be there!

Cardinals place Harrison Bader on 10 Day IL

Cardinals have placed Harrison Bader on the 10 Day IL due to an inflamed hip. Bader injured himself in the 2nd game of a 3 game series against the Cubs legging out a triple. Bader was removed from the game, examined and it was determined that he will be out at least 2 weeks.

Corey Ray has been assigned the everyday CF role in Bader's absence. C.J. McElroy had his contract selected from Memphis and was recalled, surprising everyone as it was expected that Waldrop would be recalled.

Absolutely frustrating right now. We just are finding ways to lose a ballgame.
I was referring to the Cards Cubs series not the slump. But good luck there too! I feel your pain. I’ve only been playing the show a couple years now but always run a franchise, and have not made the postseason yet. Had really high hopes for this squad starting the season, but feels like it’s slipping away. Regardless I’m having a blast and believe I will be carrying this one over.

                              Ouch! Tough break!

                                Thanks!

I have made the postseason 6 straight years, but this year I'm not so sure. We aren't playing horribly, but the Pirates are so damn good this year, as are the Cubs and Reds. The only bad team in the Central right now is the Brewers and they have a lot of young controllable pieces, so I expect them to be contenders in 2023 or 2024.

I hope you carry it over as I enjoy reading your updates. The idea of having legends mixed in is something I wish I would've thought of.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
