    FROM THE CARDINALS PERSPECTIVE

A 2019 DREAM-CHISE WITH ALL LEGENDS INCORPORATED INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS

    ***

3 Game home series vs Chicago
    July 30- Aug 1

    Game 2:
    Gomber vs Hendricks

This was an all out pitchers duel until the 6th inning when Gomber hit the wall that Hendricks would blow right past en route to a complete game shutout, striking out 10! He got in a zone early that the Cardinals just simply never could get past! Williams and Banks had huge days again as Williams is fighting for (and has a legitimate shot at) the triple crown!

    IMG_0170.jpg

    Game 3:
    Gibson vs Darvish

Gibson looked sharp and was very effective through 5, but had a lot of tough outs and was forced to throw a lot of pitches, chasing him from the Game way earlier than the Cardinals hoped! Forcing a very over used bullpen (lately) into action! And they would get caught! St Louis’ offense would put up a solid fight, but fall short, stranding the bases loaded in the 9th down by 2 with Hornsby at the plate!

Heartbreaking series, as the Cardinals now must kind of admit to themselves that the division belongs pretty securely to the Cubs, and shift their focus to the wildcard race that they are 1 game out of, but now tied with the hard charging Phillies club. Bottom line, they must clean up their game and hopefully get hot in these last couple months! This is where they define who they are!

Next up, a west coast trip with a quick 2 game set in Oakland, then on to LA where they face a Dodgers team who are presently chasing history with a 21 game winning streak! Doing well on this trip could certainly turn morale back around if they can prove capable of hanging with a couple of the best teams in the league!

      FROM THE CARDINALS PERSPECTIVE

A 2019 DREAM-CHISE WITH ALL LEGENDS INCORPORATED INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS

      Trade deadline passes:

Lots of HUGE moves, but the Cardinals opt to secure their already established base by resigning key players and see what the offseason pool brings!

      Phillies

As anticipated, get their catcher! Acquiring C Omar Narvaez from the Mariners for 3 more of their young talented players! Definitely not a player who alone will win them a championship, but a necessary move in my opinion that fits the need very adequately!

      Seattle

Went all in stocking their farm, almost single handedly convincing me that I definitely want to see this franchise carryover now!
Not only getting the young players from Philadelphia but sending a still young Ichiro Suzuki to the Rangers for 2 top notch (ready now) prospects in RF Nomar Mazara and LF Willie Calhoun! Also in the very last move before the deadline, struck a deal with the Cubs, sending Mitch Haniger to the Cardinals rivals, for C Miguel Amaya and 2B Luis Verdugo! Amaya at least gives them a very young but very promising replacement at catcher to look forward to in the future after dealing Narvaez to Philadelphia! Texas is obviously stating their intentions of making a run as well grabbing Ichiro, but he could be impactful for them over the long haul as well!

      Braves

Shore up their bullpen adding Jeffress from the Brewers at a relatively low price!

      Indians

In probably the BIGGEST move of the deadline, Cleveland seems dead set on going for it all as they trade for the young legend Shawn Green from Toronto, who in return invested further in their own future with a couple talented young position players (that will fill holes starting to be left by Vlad and Bichette) and snagging a very young, not yet polished CC Sabathia! (We all know the potential there)! Another interesting team for future seasons for sure! But Cleveland is absolutely ridiculously stacked and one of 3 teams I would consider favorites this season! (Yankees and Dodgers being the others!

So the stage is set, let’s see how it all plays out!

*** Also noteworthy, San Francisco just got Willie Mays back from the DL after a couple months out! That could prove impactful as well!

2022 White Sox Franchise - Game 3 World Series

Kevin DiBiase on the mound for Game 3 for Chicago up against Ben Lively for the Phils.

Chicago would put a couple in the top of the 3rd on a 2 run single by leadoff hitter Charlie Tilson. 2-0 Sox.

Philly would get one in their half 3rd on an Rhys Hoskins RBI single, 2-1 Sox.

Charlie Tilson would bring another run in on a RBI single in the top half of the 5th for his 3rd RBI of the game. 3-1 Sox.

Philly would rally in the bottom half of the 9th scoring 1 run on a Aaron Altherr RBI single but the rally would fall short as left the tying run at 3rd and the winning run on first. 3-2 Sox.

Chicago will have a chance to sweep the series in Game 4 and will have their ace Carlos Carrasco on the mound. Philly will have Jake Arrieta on the mound.

2022 White Sox Franchise - Game 4 World Series

White Sox has ace Carlos Carrasco on the mound against Jake Arrieta for the Phillies.

Both starters would take shutouts into the 6th inning. But White Sox 3B Kyle Seager would end the dual shutouts with a solo homer in the top half of the 6th inning to put the Sox up 1-0.

Sox would add an insurance run in the top of the 9th on a Welington Castillo pinch hit single. 2-0 Sox.

Phillies would get one run in the bottom half of the 9th on a Scott Kingery sac fly but they couldn't get the tying run across as the score would be 2-1 Sox as the Phillies couldn't avoid the Sweep.

              Playoff MVPs:

              AL - Elvis Andrus
              NL - Aaron Altherr

              World Series MVP: Charlie Tilson

The World Series Champion White Sox will have a decision to make in the off season if they will bring back Yoenis Cespedes on a one year deal or if they will let the aging veteran who will be 37 years old next season go. Other than him and back up catcher Welington Castillo, who will be 35 years old, most of the team is signed through at least next season.

2 Game away series in Oakland
                        Aug 3-4

                        Game 1:
                        Carlos Martinez vs Catfish Hunter

Martinez looked great through 6, allowing only 1 run on 3 hits, and handing a 2-1 lead to Hicks and the usually “money” part of the bullpen. Hicks would get into some trouble and allow the tying run on a sac fly, moving Ricky Henderson to 3rd with only 1 out. The Cardinals would call on Gant in an unusual “high leverage “ scenario, and he would get them out! Plus go on to pitch the next several innings. Oakland would grab the lead in the 8th, and bring in closer Treinen in the 9th. Albert immediately crushes a double in the gap, and O’Neil would pinch run representing the game tying score. Slaughter grounds out to the right side moving O’Neil to 3rd, then Carp does the same tying the game. Another extra inning game?! St Louis bullpen looked great under pressure ( not many weak bats in that lineup), but the offense couldn’t solve Petit! Giambi would end it with a walk off shot to the wall over Slaughters head bringing the game winner home in the 12th! Cardinals have now lost 6 in a row and in desperate need of something to go their way! Pretty quiet locker room at the moment to say the least.

                        *** Footnote:
After 1 more game against Oakland the Cardinals go the LA to play the Dodgers, whose win streak is presently at 23 now! Yikes!!!

Was a little disappointed I didn't at least get one A potential prospect in the draft, but that's life I guess. Got two B potential lefties that are high-velocity guys. I suppose they could always turn into A potential. If I'm lucky, that is.

                                End of April - 2021

1 month down and it has been a rough ride so far. We are 14-18, tied with the White Sox for 2nd. 8.5 games back of the Indians for 1st and 5.5 back of the 2nd Wild Card. We went 5-14 from April 2nd to the 23rd. 5-2 since then with 4 straight wins. The Indians have the best record in the AL at 23-10. Reds lead the NL at 22-8. Blue Jays have the worst record in the majors at 10-24. Braves worst in the NL at 10-21.

The offense has been terrible. We fired our hitting coach after our game on the 23rd after putting up 1 run on 8 hits in 14 innings. We are hitting .243/.311/.399. Have scored 115 runs with 25 of those (21%) coming in the last 4 games.

Ryan O'Hearn has been our only reliable hitter. He is hitting .350/.392/.547 with 5 HR. Our next best hitters is Whit Merrifield with a .757 OPS. And Jorge Soler with a .755 OPS. Mondesi has been dreadful through the first month. .204/.263/.324 with just 1 HR in 108 AB.

The pitching is a bit better. But not by much. We have a 4.01 ERA, No Complete Games, no Shutouts, 25th in HR allowed and last in Strikeouts. We do have the least walks allowed though.

Seems like Brad Keller is back to being good again. 2.66 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 44 IP. Jake Junis has a 3.18 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in 39.2 IP. Duffy has struggled through his first 4 starts. 6.48 ERA. His 1.36 WHIP is the same as last year. His walks are down by over 1.5 per 9 IP. But his Strikeouts re down by just under 1 and his HRs allowed are way up. 2.52/9 after 0.77/9 last season. BP is good for the most part. McCarthy, McAllister and Warren all have ERAs under 2 and Zimmer is at 2.95. Hill and Staumont are the complete opposites. Hill has a 5.54 ERA and 1.69 WHIP while Staumont has a 4.96 ERA. Though his FIP is just 2.88 so hopefully he can improve.

                                Some transactions in the organization.
                                Spoiler

The offense has been bad. The Pitching has been less than ideal. And yet we are only 4 games under .500. We have 31 games before the Draft. 21 of them against teams currently under .500. Split pretty evenly with 15 at home and 16 on the road. Hopefully, we can get back over .500. If not I really hope some vets start to heat up so we can shop them around as we get closer to the AS break.
