Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

I'm a week behind real life 2019, so I'm at the four-game series with the Nationals. It's not going well.

The Nats have won the first three games of the series (all by one run), including the first two in extra innings. Our division lead is down to 4.5 games. Hoping we can pull out the series finale tomorrow.

That slider change I made about five weeks ago (human timing at 0, CPU timing at 10) has been just what I needed to make things a bit more challenging.

All-Star difficulty? After struggling for a month, I've finally adjusted to HOF. It's still a challenge, but I'm not striking out 15 times a game like before.

Just had a forced hiatus from the PS4 going away for some work. But back on air now ...

Started a Seattle franchise and made a few spring season trades

Mallex Smith & Justus Sheffield for Anthony Santander and Hunter Harvey.

I adjusted Santander's stats - more hitting, better arm, fielding & reaction and his batting stance to Barry Bonds prior to the trade, which kicked his value right up.

harvey will be a good young arm for years to come. Also traded two A rated AA prospects & Vizzy for Nicks the St Louis closer.

          Opening night at Oakland.

Seattle 2 def Oakland 0 in extra innings.

          Mike Gonzalez spun a gem:

          9IP 3h 7SO 0Runs 98 pitches

At the top of the 11th Seager came on to pinch hit after Soria walked Haniger. Soria left a fastball hang over the middle and Seager crushed it for a two run shot.

Nicks in his first save attempt struck out Chapman and Davis, before walking Olson and Pinder to make things nervous.

He regained his composure and got Hundley to ground out to fielders choice and complete the save.

Game two of the series sees Mike Leake take on Mike Fiers. They're already calling it Battle of the Mikes.

Finally started a Brewers franchise, TrueSim roster V2 and sliders (HoF batting/pitching), played opening day.

Mikolas didnt even make it through 4, Chacin pitched a 4 hit shutout on 92 pitches. Moose, Shaw, and Yelich all had home runs, we scored 5 runs in the 1st inning that led to Mikolas' early exit, and then scored 2 more in the 5th.

Cardinals activate 1B Brendan McKay from IL

The Cardinals have activated 1B Brendan McKay from the 10 Day IL. McKay had been sidelined with a strained oblique.

McKay will hopefully provide a shot in the arm for an offense that has become stagnant over the past 10 games or so.

IF Tommy Edman was optioned back to Memphis to create a space on the 25 man roster.

Yeah, still All-Star. I'll probably move up to default HOF next season.

The Dodgers sweep the Braves in Atlanta 3 games to none.

Game 2: Dodgers win 9-3 while tallying 19 hits on the day. Julio Urias earned the win pitching 6 innings and giving up 2 runs on 5 hits with 7 strikeouts. Dodgers took a commanding lead early as they scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning to go ahead 6-0.

Game 3: Dodgers win 9-0. Ross Stripling earned the win pitching 6 innings while allowing 6 hits and striking out 7. Max Muncy led the Dodgers going 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs.

The Dodgers have decided to move Yasiel Puig to the bench moving forward and starting Andrew Toles in RF. Puig is currently batting .172 in 64 plate appearances with 2 HRs and 4 RBIs. Toles is batting .310 in 42 plate appearances with 1 HR and 2 RBIs. The Dodgers are hoping that having the speedy Toles reach base consistently will help the batters around him.

Pirates sweep Cardinals. Losing streak at 6 straight

The Pirates finished off the sweep of the Cardinals on a rainy Thursday afternoon picking up the 4-2 win in 19 innings. The Cardinals were rolling along until a rain delay in the 7th paused the game and sent starter Kyle Funkhouser to the showers. Funkhouser had pitched 6 1/3 innings allowing 1 hit, striking out 9 and issuing one walk. The bullpen couldn't keep the slim 1-0 lead and the teams battled for 19 innings before the Pirates took advantage.

The Cardinals were just swept by the Dodgers the series before and have now lost 6 straight as they head into a weekend series with the Diamondbacks.

Hopefully the Cardinals can turn things around and find their offense.

Spring training is over and the Mariners are ready to take the field. The Mariners opening day game is an inter-league match-up against the St. Louis Cardinals. New Mariners left fielder Marcell Ozuna (BA .282, HR 23, RBI 91) will make his Mariners debut against his former team. After surprising most experts last year by coming in 2nd in the AL West and notching 94 wins. With a lineup virtually identical to last year the Mariners are projected to finish 4th in the division as the element of surprise will now be gone.

2023 White Sox Franchise - Game 1 World Series

Game 1 features a pitching match up of the Cy Young winners for the season between Omar Salgado for the White Sox and Kyle Hendricks for the Cubs.

Was a duel you would expect for Cy Young winners as the game was scoreless into the top of the 6th inning. The scoreless tie would end on the only mistake Hendricks would make. That mistake would be crushed completely out of Wrigley over Waveland Ave. and onto Kenmore Ave. by Jose Abreu, his 2nd HR of the playoffs. 2-0 CWS

That would be all that would be needed for Sox starter Omar Salgado and the Sox pen as the Sox would take Game 1, 2-0.

Sox will look to take a 2-0 Series lead tomorrow night with Michael Kopech on the mound against Adbert Alzolay for the Cubs.

Michael Kopech on the mound for the Sox and Adbert Alzolay for the Cubs.

Kyle Schwarber would open up the scoring with a 2 run double in the bottom of the first. 2-0 CHC

Elvis Andrus would ground into fielder's choice scoring the Sox first run in the top of the 2nd inning. 2-1 CHC

Sox would tie it in the 7th on Luis Urias solo homer, his first of the playoffs. Tied 2-2

Game would go to extras and Javier Baez would single to right to walk off in the 10th, winning the game 3-2 and tying the Series at a game a piece.

Series moves to the South Side for Game 3 with Carlos Carrasco on the mound for the Sox and Drew Smyly for the Cubs.

Cardinals place Jack Flaherty on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed SP Jack Flaherty on the 10 Day IL due to a strained forearm. Flaherty felt discomfort before his scheduled start against Arizona on Sunday. Drew Harrington was bumped up a day to start for the Cardinals, who were obliterated 10-0.

Flaherty is expected to be back at the beginning of June. Austin Gomber was recalled from Memphis to make the start to open the series in Wrigley against the division leading Cubs.

Dodgers stay on the road and head to Cincinnati for a 4 game series.

Game 1: Reds win 3-2. Colton Stern earned the loss pitching 7 1/3 inning and giving up 3 runs off 7 hits with 8 strikeouts. After falling behind 3-2 in the 4th the Dodgers were not able to get enough offense going and drive in runs even though they managed 11 hits on the night. Joc Pederson hit his 2nd home run of the season, both solo shots.

Game 2: Dodgers win 3-1. Clayton Kershaw for the Dodgers on the board first hitting his first home run of the season in the 5th ro our the Dodgers ahead 1-0. A 2 run 9th inning gave the Dodgers the win thanks to sacrifice flys by Austin Barnes and Mark Trumbo. Josh Fields earned the Dodgers win pitching 1 inning in relief. Kenley Jansen earned the save.

Game 3: Reds win 3-2. Walker Buehler made his first appearance since being sidelined with an injury and allowed 2 runs in 5 innings of work while striking out 5. A pair of solo home runs by Pederson and a pinch hitting Trumbo tied the game 2-2 in the top of the 8th. In the bottom of the inning Scott Alexander gave up the game winning run and was pulled after only facing 2 batters. Alexander earned the loss for the Dodgers pitching 1/3 of an inning while allowing 1 run off 1 hit with 1 strikeout.

We took 2 out of 3 from the Indians. We(Braves) are actually in 1st in the East. The Nats are 0.5GB.

Teheran got back on track in Game 1 of series vs. Indians. He pitched 6.0IP, 4K, ER, BB. Actual got the win 2-1.

Game 2 Folty got rocked finally! ERA ballooned to 2.27, it was a laughable 0.36. It was ugly as heck 6ER, 3HR in 5 innings!

Game 3 Max Fried is becoming our stopper in the rotation. Coming into this game, 3ER in 4 starts. He did give up 2ER, but went 6.0IP strong. Quality start by the way, which I am firm believer in giving your squad an opportunity to win. He did not get the win, but we won 4-2. Top of 9th vs. the Indians closer Oliver Perez, Donaldson hit the go ahead 2 run HR, followed the Heyward solo shot. Kimbrel locking down his 7th save.

On to Cincy continuing our tour against Ohio....
