Seattle Mariners Franchise: Year One
MLB(R) The Show(TM) 19_10.jpg***August Recap***
- 76 - 61 (16-10 in August)
- 3rd in AL West
- Ahead of the Red Sox by 4.5 games for the second Wild Card spot
As August comes to a close the Mariners are fighting fatigue while trying to increase their hold on the final Wild Card Spot. Dee Gordon continues to literally lead the charge as the leadoff man leads the American League in BA (.337), Steals (44) and is second in hits (178). Rookie pitcher Yusei Kikuchi continues his breakout season. Kikuchi currently leads the team with 154 strikeouts (12th in MLB) and has a record of 11-4 w/ an ERA of 3.09 and is a contender for AL Rookie of the Year.
After slows starts corner outfielders Mitch Haniger and Domingo Santana both seemed to have found their stride at the plate. After hovering around .200 for most of the season both players have brought there BA up to .239 and .242 respectively. While not earth shattering numbers the increased performance will surely help the Mariners as the make that final push for a post season berth.
If the Mariners want to avoid fizzling out in the final month of the regular season there are a few key areas that need to be addressed.
- Scoring is an issue. The team suffers from a severe lack of power and currently sit 29th in HRs (116) which leads to the next area
- With a lack of power it's crucial the team gets the base runners around to home plate anyway possible. The team is 28th in GIDP (101). When not GIDPs the team also leaves far to many men on base.
- Finally the last major struggle is an inconsistent bullpen. Aside from a few players the Mariners rarely know which version of their relievers will show up on the mound. With a team that has trouble scoring, maintaining leads and consistency will be crucial. The current bullpen has a record of 19 - 24.
***Roster Moves***
- After clearing trade waivers pitcher Mike Leake was traded to Marlins for two prospects: RP Damion Casto and SS Cristobal Lopes
***The Numbers***
Team Overall:
Batting Average | .260

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
With the offseason over and ST skimmed through it is time to get to the news from the offseason.
First, off the only other player, we signed that was an FA was 2B, Neil Walker. We also made that early offseason trade that brought us, Odubal Herrera.
Bigger news than really almost, it had me seriously considering re simulating the spring was that Khris Davis broke his hand during ST and will be out for 1-2 months.
So I am ready to get going...
one last thing...
ok, what is the purpose of having a BANK and having close to $400M in that bank going into the offseason? Then going through it and finding out your now in debt?
Anyway, year three is here and ready to go. I'm ready to defend my title once again. Seeing how overly easy default rookie was this year I have gone on and bumped my game to Veteran.
I will see how it goes and see if during the first month of the season I might be tempted to bump up to AS.
so keep tuned in here and I will be bringing you season three soon."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Just found out what the bank in this game is for...
if your revenue is negative it is how the game keeps you from kinda going deeper into debt... at least that is how I see it. My Current cash flow starting year three is ($-132K)
luckily I have a bank that is sitting at $156.89M so I should be ok for a while I hope lol"Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment
