Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Now it is time to just wait back and see whom it will be that I face in the World Series. Will the Mets just go into game six and take the series?, Or will the Giants pull off a miracle come back and win both games at home and take the series?

Broxton is on fire, Suarez is also finding his zone. However, if I was any team I wouldn't be pitching to Odor any time soon. Khris Davis is hitting well but for whatever reason, he has become a singles hitter this postseason.

Just waiting for the bats of Starling Marte, Adam Jones, and Marcus Semien. Those bats have been flat. hopefully, they can join the hit parade or at least start to contribute in the world series.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

A lot of people will tell you that the super bowl in football is the ultimate one-game showcase. As a diehard baseball fan I solely forever disagree on this statement.

Anyone who calls themselves a sports fan of any kind has to know that a game seven in baseball is the ultimate game of all times. You don't see an all hands on deck style of managing in football for that game, or even a one-game playoff game in football.

This game we have coming up here between the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants to see who goes to the fall classic. Better known as the World Series is the king of one game contests.

Every man on that 25 man roster has been put on notice to be ready to do whatever the manager asks of him, whenever it comes.

Now join me in finding out just who the defending World Series Champions will be playing in the 2019 World Series.

Good luck to both teams!!! may the best team win!!!

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well sorry to all the Mets fans out there but it looks as though the Giants were just more determined to get the job done and make it to the World Series this year.

30 years ago this year these same two teams faced off in what turned out to be a very onesided, lopsided affair. With the Athletics sweeping their cross-bay rivals four games to none.

What most people remember vividly about that world series more than anything was the devastating earthquake that devastated the entire bay area. it also caused games three and four to be postponed for several days before continuing.

Those teams had several memorable names on them.

The A's has, of course, the bash brothers Mark Mcquire and Jose Canseco, and Rickey Henderson.
the Giants had Will Clark and Kevin Mitchell. The A's had a severe edge in pitching (both starting and bullpen) with the likes of Dave Stewart, Bob Welch, Mike Moore, Eric Plunk, Rick Honeycutt, and of course Hall of Famers Dennis Eckersley, and Rickey Henderson.

The Giants were a more overall balanced team offensively. The A's were built with speed and raw power.

the teams now in this world series are almost identical cousins to each team of the past. the Giants are a well-balanced team both defensively and offensively.

Whereas the A's are again built for the long ball from top to bottom. The pitching edge has to go to the A's staff overall.

Will we be in for another four-game series. Will the Giants get revenge for their long lost team of 30 years ago and beat the A's? Could we have a classic for the ages? With this series being a back and forth knock down drag out brawl?

Will the stars shine for both teams throughout the series? Or will the role players on the teams find it their time to shine and rise to the top to carry their respective teams?

the stage is set, the teams are rested and ready. The hype is real, who will reign supreme and take the 2019 World Series? it is now time to find out.

2023 White Sox Franchise - Game 2 ALDS

Michael Kopech on the mound for Chicago against Chris Sale for Boston in Game 2.

Chicago would take the early lead in bottom the first on a Eloy Jimenez double. 1-0 CWS

Yoenis Cepedes added another run for Chicago with a sac fly in the 3rd. 2-0 CWS

Pitching would take it from there as Chicago starter Michael Kopech would take a no hitter into the 7th before Andrew Benintendi would single up the middle for Boston to end the no hit bid.

Chicago would take Game 2 by a 2-0 score. Now leads the series 2-0.

Chicago will look for the Sweep in Game 3 sending Carlos Carrasco to the mound against Rick Porcello for Boston

Cardinals place Carson Kelly on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed Carson Kelly on the 10 Day IL due to a pulled hamstring. Kelly pulled up lame after advancing to 2nd on a base hit from Kolten Wong. Kelly has been the Cardinals best hitter thus far, hitting over .370 this year with an OBP of .578.

Matt Wieters was recalled from Memphis to take Kelly's spot on the roster and will serve as backup to Andrew Knizer.

Cardinals close out April on 4 game winning streak

The Cardinals ended the month of April on a 4 game winning streak and sit just a half game behind the Cubs for the lead in the National League Central. The Cardinals who avoided being swept in Milwaukee by winning the series finale, have taken the first 3 games of a 4 game series in Miami to finish the month on a hot streak.

The Cardinals do have a few concerns as the month comes to a close. Patrick Wisdom (.214), Ozzie Albies (.174), and Brendan McKay (.211) have all struggled with their batting averages through the month. This is your everyday 2, 3, and 4 hitters struggling this much. But the Cardinals staff is confident they will all find their stroke soon. Albies glove and Wisdom's power plus glove make it difficult to take them out of the lineup despite their struggles. McKay had a terrific spring, so the Cardinals are confident that he'll get it going, and may be already. In the series against Miami, McKay is 5 for 11 with 3 homeruns, a double, and 5 RBI's.

The pitching staff has been solid although the Cardinals did make one move that wasn't injury related when they sent down Joe Kelly in favor of Zack Burdi. So far the move has been the right one as Burdi has pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts and a save.

The Cardinals will head into the month of May riding the 4 game winning streak and feeling confident that they can continue to not only maintain this level of play, but get better once some of the bats come around.

                      May Schedule:

1 @ MIA (series started in April)
                      4 vs LAD (4th game on Monday....odd)
                      3 @ HOU
                      3 @ LAD
                      3 vs PIT
                      3 vs ARI
                      2 @ CHC
                      3 @ PIT
                      3 vs CIN
2 vs ATL (series concludes in June)

                      Cardinals outright Sam Freeman

The Cardinals made their 2nd official roster move that wasn't due to injury. The Cardinals have outrighted 35 year old Sam Freeman. The lefty is in Memphis where he has been a roller coaster posting a 5.41 ERA with 3 losses. Freeman is still with the team, but expectations are that he will be claimed off waivers.

Cardinals place Jack Flaherty on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed SP Jack Flaherty on the 10 Day IL due to shoulder issues. Flaherty left in the 4th inning of last nights game against the Dodgers. Flaherty gave up a 2 run homerun to Mitch Walding and then exited the game. He was off during his time on the mound as his breaking pitches didn't move and his fastball was all over the zone.

Joe Kelly has been recalled from Memphis to take Flaherty's spot on the active roster and to provide some depth for the bullpen that has been taxed the past two games. In the game prior to Flaherty's start, Luke Weaver was knocked out in the 3rd inning after giving up 7 runs on 10 hits. The bullpen has had to work 12 innings over the past two games.

No decision has been made on who will take Flaherty's starts in the rotation while he's out.

I have between 35 and 40 games left and while things are going good, I'm getting burnt out on the remainder of the season. My mind keeps drifting to all the off-season stuff. Who I'm going to re-sign, coaching staff changes, minor leaguers that could make the 40-man roster, wondering how my draft picks will do once they join the organization. There is so much going on in-season up until the trade deadline then Aug. and Sept. hit and things seem a little dull.

Anyone else start to lose focus late in the season or is it just me.
