LOL. Thames first AB for me: Home run.

Edit: 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBIs in his MLB 19 Braves debut.

      Spoiler

We open up the season on March 31st at Cleveland. Our home opener is April 4th against the Tigers. We have 26 games before the end of April. Only 11 of them will be at home. 18 of the games will be against teams that were .500 or better last season. If this team finds a way to lose 100+ games then I quit. Seager and Cain are massive additions. The loss of Salvy is an improvement even if we played with no one behind the plate. Hopefully, Andrew Heaney can lock down the #1 spot in the rotation and help us stop any major losing streaks. The goal is gonna be to finish .500 or better. That would a 26 game improvement over last season. Maybe a little too much to ask for. But as long as we dont lose a player every other week I think its possible. I've been wrong a lot though.

Cardinals drop 2 of 3 to the Diamondbacks

The Cardinals were cooled off in the desert losing 2 of 3 games against the Diamondbacks. The Cardinals offense sputtered a bit, but their old nemesis bullpen failure showed up during the series. Pedro Baez and Joe Kelly were the culprits in back to back games to start the series, as both gave up significant leads that led to losing the first two of the series. The Cardinals were able to secure the series finale behind Jack Flaherty's good pitching and the bats waking up.

The Cardinals will head to Colorado for 4 games over the weekend. Austin Gomber, Kyle Funkhouser, Michael Wacha, and Luke Weaver are slated to be the starters for the 4 games.

          MountUrCastle's San Francisco Giants Rebuild
          franchise-altering offseason

BREAKING: POSEY, KLUBER, DUGGAR, BELT, LEMAHIEU, FREELAND TRADED IN MASSIVE 4 TEAM DEAL

According to MLB insider John Heyman, the Giants are on the cusp of a gigantic megadeal with the Indians, Rockies and Blue Jays, which would send longtime Giants catcher and franchise face Buster Posey to the Indians for all-star pitcher Corey Kluber and a minor leaguer. This would then facilitate a move that sends Steven Duggar and Kluber to the Rockies in return for Kyle Freeland, D.J. LeMahieu, and 2B Grant Lavigne, and then finally sending LeMahieu and Brandon Belt to Toronto for prospects Johan Ruiz and Richard Urena.

When asked about the rumored transactions, the respective teams GM's declined to comment. Buster Posey, who was spotted in downtown San Francisco, was asked about the trade and confirmed a move was likely, but not to a specific location.

-Signed CL Will Smith to a 4 year, 5.2 million dollar per year deal.

Cardinals place Austin Gomber on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed Austin Gomber on the 10 Day IL due to shoulder inflammation. Gomber left in the 4th inning of his start against the Rockies. Gomber is 1-2 this year with an ERA north of 6, but his last outing and what he pitched in Colorado were showing signs of improvement and what the Cardinals saw in Florida during Spring Training.

Cardinals recall Zack Burdi from Memphis

The Cardinals recalled RHP Zack Burdi from Memphis in a move to fulfill the vacant roster spot created when Gomber was placed on the IL. Burdi had pitched 8 innings in Memphis allowing zero runs and a WHIP of 0.68 when called up. He had 3 saves as well.

Burdi was part of the Cardinals roster much of last year pitching in 43 games, but was sent to Memphis after Spring Training as the Cardinals went with veterans Joe Kelly and Pedro Baez. What will happen when Gomber's spot in rotation comes around remains to be seen, but for at the least this weekend series in Colorado, the Cardinals are going with an 8 man bullpen.

              Cardinals split series with Rockies

The Cardinals and Rockies split their 4 game series over the weekend in Colorado. Rockies won games 1 and 3 while the Cardinals won games 2 and 4. The Rockies offense was explosive in their 2 wins putting up a total of 23 runs in those two games alone. The Cardinals were able to tame the offense in their two victories, holding the potent Rockies lineup to just a single run in the series finale.

The Cardinals set at 13-9 on the year thus far and are tied with the Reds atop the NL Central.

The Cardinals are off on Monday, but head back to St.Louis for a quick 3 game home stand against the Mets before hitting the road again to close out the month of April with 3 in Milwaukee and 3 in Miami.

Bullpen woes/struggles continue to be issue for Cardinals

Once again the bullpen is a source of despair for the Cardinals throughout the organization. The Cardinals thought they addressed this issue over the winter, but thus far that doesn't seem to be the case. The Cardinals signed Andrew Miller but let him go when he struggled in Florida. Miller is now in the Bronx. The Cardinals also sent Zack Burdi to Memphis in favor of more veteran arms in Joe Kelly and Pedro Baez. Both have struggled thus far in St.Louis. At the Triple-A and Double-A levels, it isn't much better, as both Memphis and Springfield lead their respective leagues in blown saves and losses for bullpen staff.

The front office has noted that they may look to address this issue early in the season, although they are hesitant after last year's debacle where constant moves to fix issues turned out to be a very unpopular decision among the fanbase, the managers, and even the players. The Cardinals went into this season with the idea of sticking to their usual game plan of not making roster moves, aside from injuries, until the first of May. Give guys a chance to work through slumps, and cold spells. But still, the Cardinals are giving away vital games early in the season while waiting on things to turn around, and in this competitive NL Central, every game matters.

The Cardinals have been searching the market and have an eye on a potential trade if they desire to make an early move. They also could go the free agent market as they have an open spot within the organization. The Cardinals will be forced to make a decision with their bullpen staff here very shortly as Austin Gomber's turn in the rotation comes up this week, in fact it happens Wednesday against the Mets. The Cards could let Joe Kelly make that start, but I doubt that is a popular option given his struggles. He, Pedro Baez, and Zack Burdi are out of options so moving one of those guys will bring about the possibility of losing them to waivers.

We will see where the Cardinals turn and what they do in the very near future and over the course of the first half of the season as they once again look to better their bullpen depth.

                Seattle Mariners Franchise: Year One
                MLB(R) The Show(TM) 19_9.jpg

                ***July Recap***
                • 60-51 (12-11 in July)
                • 3rd in AL West
                • Trailing Tampa Bay in Wild Card spot by 1.5 games

First the bad news. July saw the Mariners cool off after a good run of form in June. Post All-Star break the Mariners went 7-9. The low point had to be running into the buzz-saw called the Angels getting swept in both series and getting out scored 10-29.

Now the good news Edwin Encarnacion sluggish start seems to be in the rearview mirror. With a batting average up near .270 and leads the team in RBIs.

The great news and the teams rock the entire season and this month especially is second basemen Dee Gordon. Gordon currently has a 25 game hitting streak stretching back to June. He leads the AL in batting average (.341) stolen bases (34) and is second in hits (141). Unfortunately Gordon's season has gone unnoticed by the MVP voters as his name is rarely mentioned in the conversation.

                ***Roster Moves***

                • Elvis Luciano (RP) was claimed off waivers and sent to the Modesto (Class-A)
                • Brandon Brennan (RP) and Sam Tuivailala were sent down to Tacoma (Triple-A)

I’m assuming August waiver trades are still in the game. They didn’t patch in July 31 being the one and only trade deadline, correct?

Cardinals recall Drew Harrington from Memphis. Place Joe Kelly on Optional Assignment waivers

The Cardinals have called up LHP Drew Harrington from Memphis to take the injured Austin Gomber's spot in the rotation. Drew Harrington started 17 games for the Cardinals last year going 8-5 with a 3.68 ERA. He was 2-1 with a 3.01 ERA in 4 starts in Memphis. Harrington is out of options so the Cardinals will have a decision to make again in about a week when Gomber is available to return from the IL.

Joe Kelly was placed on optional assignment waivers in order to make room on the active roster. Kelly earned a bullpen job out of Spring Training, but has struggled this year to the tune of a 4.68 ERA and a WHIP of 2.42. Kelly hasn't been the dominant arm out of the bullpen he was for the Cardinals two years ago. If he clears waivers, he will be assigned to Memphis. There is some speculation that if he does go unclaimed the Cardinals may just grant him his outright release.

I'm posting for the first time in the franchise this year.

Playing with my Braves as always. Thru 16 games I'm 10-6, 2nd place behind the Nats @13-3.

                          I'm overall as a team BA. .293.
HR Ldrs are Donaldson(4) & Acuna(4). Highest BA is Inciarte .416, I've always batted well with him. Freeman is struggling for me power wise 0HR in 54AB. Gave him the last game off hopefully that'll do the trick.

Pitching, oh my I was unrealistic great. All my starter's ERA was under 2 thru 2 starts. But the third time through the starting rotation we came back to pack.
Teheran, Siroka & Newcomb all 6ER in their 3rd start's. Folty & Fried are sporting sub 1 ERA's and 3-0 records. I haven't pulled the trigger on adding Keuchel, but finger is itching. Going to give Newcomb one more start. I did add Kimbrel for 3yrs/ 30mil.

Despite a few important players out due to injuries, the Yankees 4 game series with Cleveland lived up to the hype.

                              Game 1: Sevy Vs Carrasco.
This game was expected to be a pitchers duel but both starters were hammered and forced out by the end of the 6th, both surrendering 5 runs. Fast forward to the 9th, Yankees down 6-5 with the Indians sending in Brad Hand for the save against the top of the Yankee lineup. LeMahieu would lead by lining one to right for a single. Judge would then work a walk moving the tying run to 2B. Up comes Gleyber Torres. Torres would crush a 3-2 count pitch for a 3 run Walkoff HR! Yankees win 8-6. Happy Gleyber Day!

                              Game 2 German Vs Bieber.
This game would contain plenty of late inning drama as well. After scoring 4 runs in the 8th, the Yankees took a 9-3 lead into the 9th. Cleveland would pull off a miracle, pummeling Chapman for 4 runs before Santana would cap off the comeback with a game tying solo shot off Ottavino. To the bottom of the 9th. In comes Tyler Clippard. One pitch later his night is over, as Didi takes the first pitch he sees deep sending us home winners after all. Yankees win 9-8.

                              Game 3 Paxton Vs Salazar
Not as dramatic and no walkoff, but still a close one. We took a 7-6 lead in the 8th, and hung on for the win in the 9th. Chapman would fine himself in more trouble, but this time Miller bailed him out stranding the bases loaded to seal the win. Yankees win 7-6.

                              Game 4: Bumgarner vs Plutko
Surprisingly Plutko put in a quality outing holding us to 3 runs through 5.2 IP, keeping his team in the game. Clippard and Cimber would keep us off the board the rest of the way, but it wouldn’t matter. MadBum continues to be near untouchable since joining us, tossing 7 innings of shutout ball before handing it off to a combo of Green, Britton, and Kimbrel. A Torres solo shot and opposite field 2 run bomb from Stanton would get the job done. Yankees win 3-1.

Next up, a road trip to the West Coast to close out August. 3 in Oakland, 3 in LA (Dodgers), and 3 in Seattle. We may have swept Cleveland, but they were all close and mostly decided at the very end. If we meet in October we will gain Edwin back, but they’ll have Kluber and Clevinger back. That can change things quite a bit.

Tulo To IL With Seperated Shoulder At AAA
It was amazing he lasted this long, but injury has finally struck Tulo once again. He’ll miss 1-2 months, potentially ending his season. He would’ve rejoined us in September but that may no longer be possible at any point.
