First Year Player Draft - 2021

So 2021 season has not been good to us at all. 20-43. Dead last in the Central, AL, and MLB. We aren't good at home. We aren't good on the road. Doesn't matter if its a day game or a night game. We just plain suck. The Yankees lead the AL with a 45-16 record. Dodgers top the NL at 37 and 24 with the Giants at 23-39 as the worst NL team.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

      I'm hoping lightning strikes twice.

If anyone remembers from last year's thread, I traded for Eric Thames and absolutely raked with him. He likely would have been NL MVP if I had finished that season.

Well, when I saw the Brewers had him on the trade block again in this year's game, I had to go get him. We acquired Thames and a 2B prospect for Bryse Wilson and Adam Duvall. Thames will DH and hit 5th for us. He was only hitting .232 with seven homers for the Brewers in limited playing time. We're hoping regular at-bats will get him going.

We hit the All-Star break with an MLB-best record of 63-29. We're seven games up on the Nationals. Freeman, Abies and Acuna Jr. were voted in as starters for the ASG. Donaldson, Markakis and Kimbrel were also selected for the team. Freeman was the ASG MVP in the NL's 7-2 win.

Dodgers have won 10 straight entering the break to open up a 14-game lead in the West. The Cubs are in control in the Central. The Nationals, Reds and Mets are battling for the NL wild cards.

In the AL, the Yankees were cruising before suffering through a nine-game losing streak. That's allowed the Red Sox to pass them in a tight AL East race. The Indians and Astros are running away with their divisions. Purists aren't happy as the Angels, at 45-47, currently hold down the second WC spot. Yeah, the AL is incredibly top heavy.

2023 White Sox Franchise - End of Regular Season

The White Sox end the season at 107-55 with the AL's best record. We will face the winner of the Wild Card Game between Boston and Minnesota as we go for back to back World Series Championships.

We did call up #1 Prospect SP Andre Simons in September. He made 2 starts going 2-0 only giving up 1 run in 16 innings with 8 K's.

Some other rookie standouts for the Sox:

Rookie CP Patrick McKenzie went 4-0 with a 0.86 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 6 Saves, 21 Ks in 31.1 IP

Rookie LF Richie Cortez hit .300 with 17 HR and 77 RBI in 566 ABs

Rookie Utilityman Hayden McClendon hit .360 with 7 HR and 22 RBI in 136 AB

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Blue Jays currently sit 52-39 at the All Star break and are tied for the second wild card spot, 8 GB of the Yankees for 1st in the AL East. The team had already traded for Ian Happ earlier in the year and have made a trio of moves during the All Star break to solidify the roster.

          1) Traded RP Ken Giles, OF Billy McKinney and SP Juan DePaula to the Cardinals for OF/1B Jose Martinez. The deal gives St. Louis a top bullpen arm, OF depth and a decent prospect. The moves makes room for more time for OF Tyler O'Neill who has been solid this year. The Blue Jays get a solid, consistent RHB to plug at the top of their lineup for the next couple of seasons. He will look good batting in front of Vlad Jr.

          2) Traded 2B Ronnie Brito and 1B Chad Spanberger to the Pirates for C Francisco Cervelli. Cervelli is batting .238/.358/.387 this year with 9 HR and 33RBI for the last place Pirates. With Danny Jansen struggling, he will provide valuable veteran leadership and a more consistent bat.

          3) Traded C Evan Gattis, OF Socretes Brito and 2B Eric Sogard to Cleveland for RP Nick Wittgren and OF Leonys Martin. This deal is a hole filler for both clubs. Gattis was hitting very well .249 with 10 HR in 169 ABS and will immediately become the starter for Cleveland, who have struggled to get any production from Plawecki or Perez. Sogard fills a bench Utility role and Brito provides speed off the bench. Brito was hitting well with Toronto and had 23 stolen bases. Toronto gets a young bullpen piece who was buried in AAA this year. They also take Martin who has been in AAA due to a rocky season. He will be a bench OF for Toronto, softening some of the blow from losing McKinney and Brito.

          - The first game for the new players showed to be a great one. Martinez went 2-4 with a HR and double, while Cervelli went 2-4 with a game tying RBI double in the bottom of the 8th. This would lead to a walk off HR from Grichuk in the 10th. Martinez left the game late, spraining his finger diving for a ball at 1st but will only miss a few games.

Looking forward to the second half of the season now that my trades are out of the way. I am likely done dealing this year and will go forward with the team I have.

Cardinals take 3 of 4 from Reds

The Cardinals get "revenge" against the Reds after being swept in St.Louis to start the season, by winning 3 of 4 in their extended weekend series in Cincinnati. Cardinals won the first two games, before dropping Saturday's game where the offense kept getting the lead but Austin Gomber kept giving it away. The Cardinals won Sunday in 11 innings to claim the series win.

The Cardinals are now 5-5 on the season, but 5-1 since starting the season 0-4. They are off Monday, before returning home for a 5 game homestand that includes 3 against the Phillies and 2 against the Brewers.

Couldn’t be happier. When I got him he was hitting under .200 in limited at bats. Was in AAA when I dealt for him. Had to give up some good prospects and Tepera but it was worth it.

At the trade deadline he’s hitting .280 with 12 HR and that’s with spending the first month in AAA in the cubs organization. He’s hitting lead off for me at the moment and I couldn’t be happier with his production. I thought his contact would be an issue but he’s hitting everything and hitting it hard. 3rd on my team in doubles as well. I would recommend acquiring him.

2023 White Sox Franchise - NL Wild Card Game

As I did in last seasons playoffs will be watching the wild card games as well as the Game 5 and 7s of the division and championship series that the White Sox do not compete in as well as World Series if we do not make it back there..

First up was the NL Wild Card Game with San Diego vs Philadelphia.

Joey Lucchesi on the mound for San Diego vs Aaron Nola for the Phils.

Phillies scored the only 3 runs of the game on a 2 out 3rd inning rally with RBI singles by Cesar Hernandez and Mike Moustakas.

Phillies move on to face the Chicago Cubs in the NLDS.
