Blue Jays and Orioles make first significant deal of 2023

Inter-division rivals Blue Jays and Orioles made the first significant trade of the young 2023 season. The Blue Jays sent SP Aaron Sanchez to the Orioles for RP Tanner Scott.

Aaron Sanchez was down in triple A when the move happened and will now be a rotational piece for the Orioles who were looking to solidify their starting rotation. Tanner Scott goes from a crowded bullpen to a bullpen that was in need of another reliable arm. Tanner Scott is expected to assume the set up man role to get the ball to Aroldis Chapman.

Ok, When I said that rookie was easy I had no idea how easy until I jumped to Veteran. I have the pitch speeds at absolute zero and the pitch speed at veteran is so much faster than it was on rookie with the same settings.

I may have to find a slider set or tweak some sliders to get something figured out. Veteran will be a definite challenge for me.

I hate to say it but I think the outfield in this minor league park I am playing in might, no not might IS bigger than most of the parks in the MLB. There were plays that I swear would have been made in an MLB park that got down for hits in this game.

no issues love the park... ok I'm going to go slider set hunting...

                  MountUrCastle's San Francisco Giants Rebuild

trade deadline + end of season

The San Francisco Giants enter the trade deadline at a record of 41-67, placing them 1 game ahead of the Padres, 4th in the NL West, and 5th-last in the league. Growing pains are the name of the game for the Giants, as most rookies are struggling this year.

Without any high-value free agents, don't expect a huge sell.

Prominent names on the block include J.D. Martinez, Yoan Moncada, Matt Carpenter, Ender Inciarte, Adam Eaton, Eddie Rosario and Dinelson Lamet. Rumors also have it that SP Reynaldo Lopez is on the block in Chicago, and the Giants are reported to have been talking.

                  The Transactions:

-San Francisco trades SP Andrew Suarez, 3B Jacob Gonzalez, and C.J. Hinojosa to the Chicago White Sox for Reynaldo Lopez. Reynaldo was reportedly unhappy in Chicago and wanted out, and to go to a more sunnier, western locale.

-San Francisco trades Martin Perez to the Royals for SP Jackson Kowar.

When contacted about the move, the GM of the Giants stated that his goal with his deadline moves was to acquire more potential in the starting rotation.

                  End Of Season

The Giants finished 2020 with a 66-96 record, placing them 4 games ahead of the Padres for the 5 spot in the NL West and 5th last in the league.

D-Rod just mised out on the Cy Young as a Carlos Carrasco hot tear at the end of the season gave the Diamondbacks pitcher the crown. The trio of Lopez, Freeland, and Rodriguez was amazingly solid down the stretch, giving the Giants the majority of their wins throughout the latter half, with Lopez dropping his ERA from the high 4's to the middle 3's.

The best batter for the Giants down the stretch was far and away Kole Calhoun. Leading the Giants in every notable batting category. A free agent this offseason, Calhoun is certainly getting a contract, expected to be somewhere within the 3.5 million range for a year.

With a load of cap space, no real important free agents to sign, and a lack of batting within the free agent pool, don't expect a lot of huge free agent signings, but posturing towards next year.

Dodgers drop a 3 game home series to the Rockies 2 games to 1.

Game 1: Rockies win 2-1. Dodger got on the board first with a pinch hit RBI double by Justin Turner in the bottom of the 7th. Clinging to a 1-0 lead and hoping to earn the save, Kenley Jansen entered started the top of the 9th and immediately gave up 2 runs on 2 hits and and 1 walk. The Dodgers were unable to answer back in the bottom of the inning even after a 2 out single by Chris Taylor and a walk by Kike Hernandez our the Dodgers in position. A long fly ball by Corey Seager ended the comeback attempt.

The hit watch for Hernandez continues as he’s gone 0-7 with 2 walks playing from the bench and appearing in 4 games.

Game 2: Dodgers win 3-2. With the score tied at 1 in the top of the 8th and the bases loaded, Yasiel Sierra hits Andrew McCutchen with a fastball bringing in the go ahead run. Mark Trumbo fires back in the bottom half of the inning with a 2 run home run putting the Dodgers ahead for good. Yasiel Sierra earned the win in relief giving up 1 run on 2 hits in 1 inning of work. Kenley Jansen pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning earning the save.

Game 3: Rockies win 4-3. Walker Buelhler earned the loss for the Dodgers giving up 4 runs in 5 2/3 innings along with 7 hits and 7 strikeouts. Hernandez went 0-4 continuing his zero hit streak for the season.

Dodgers now sitting at 7-6 and 2.5 games behind the Padres in the West, will immediately start a 4 game home series against the San Francisco Giants.

Trade Alert: Twins send 25 year old SP Kohl Stewart to the Yankees for 24 year old LF Tyler O’Neill. Stewart was immediately sent down to AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

                        MountUrCastle's San Francisco Giants Rebuild

2021 first third + MLB draft + trade deadline prep

The Giants enter the draft at a record of 26-35, putting them 1 game behind the Padres for dead last in the NL West. Regression is the name of the game for the Giants, as their trio of pitchers in Freeland, Lopez, and Rodriguez have all regressed from their 2020 seasons, with Freeland currently resting in the high 3's and Lopez chilling in the low 6 ERA. The Giants batting woes have also continued but at a much lesser extremity.

As per normal, the Giants have a lot of money coming off the books next season and are exploring controlled additions at the deadline. Names such as Brian Anderson, Jesse Winker, Raul Mondesi, and Bradley Zimmer are all reported names that the Giants are considering acquiring in a bid to improve their roster for this year as well as the future. Winker is a name the Giants especially covet, as his age coupled with his ability to walk is viewed as a huge asset to the Bay Bombers. With 3 arbitration years beyond this one, he represents a relatively cost controlled option at LF for the coming years.

                        Draft
                        1. Round 1 LF Pete Holloway. Speedy left fielder with an elite bat and good defensively, can flex between the two corners in the outfield.
                        2. 2nd round: 1B David Jaquez. With one of the best bats I have ever seen in a draft eligible prospect, the Giants are taking a swing on this 24 year old.
                        3. 3rd round: SP Junior Rodriguez good prospect with MLB level tools, just needs to get his per 60 stats up.
                        4. 4th round: Ray Sandoval
                        5. 5th round: Carlos Alaniz
                        6. 6th round" RP Lamar Womack

First 2 games in series played in Wagonman Stadium to simulate a series played in Mexico. Because why not?

Game 1: Dodgers win 3-1. Mark Trumbo hit a pinch hit 2 run home run for the Dodgers in the bottom of the 8th to break the 1-1 tie. Trumbo has proving himself to be a great free agent pickup for the Dodgers. He currently is tied for first on the team with 3 home runs and is first on the team batting .364. Not bad for a player who has mostly been a pinch hitter and not playing every day. Kenta Maeda earned the win for the Dodgers in relief and Kenley Jansen earned the save. Another 0-3 night for Kike Hernandez. The Dodgers are hoping all their players will be rested soon so Hernandez can get back to the bench where he belongs.

Game 2: Dodgers win 6-1. Ross Stripling earned the win for Dodgers going 7 innings with 5 Ks and 3 hits while giving up the single run. Hernandez finally broke through, knocking his first hit of the season after being subbed in at 2nd in the 8th inning. Austin Barnes and Andrew Toles both hit their first home runs of the season.

Games 3 and 4 of the series will be played at Laughing Mountain Park.

September is finally here, 1 more month of regular season baseball to go. We sit at 97-40, the best record in the MLB by 8 games over the 89-49 Rockies. To finish out August we swept the A’s and Dodgers before dropping 2 of 3 to Seattle. Currently are in the middle of a 3 game set with Oakland, series tied 1-1. In August we likely had the best stretch of any team this season, as we put together a 13 game winning streak.

The Yankees clinching the division is inevitable at this point as we are 22 games up on Tampa and 23 up on Boston with 25 games to go. Ideally we’ll officially win it in NY before hitting the road but if not, at least we’ll be celebrating a division title at Fenway.
Yankees schedule to close out the season:
                              3 Vs Texas
                              4 @ Boston
                              3 @ Detroit
                              3 @ Toronto
                              3 Vs LAA
                              3 Vs Toronto
                              2 vs Tampa
And to end the season, 3@ Texas

                              2 days until rosters expand.
Encarnacion has returned from the IL and is ready to go for September.

Have to highlight the amazing performance of our pitching staff in AAA this season.
5 relievers, Coulombe, Barrett, Holder, Kahnle, and Tarpley, all have ERA’s of under 2.00. On top of that, the amazing 2.05 ERA of SP prospect Tyler Beede along with a promising 2.80 ERA from SP prospect Sean Hjelle. German was also having a dominant season at AAA before being promoted in mid August.

                              News:
Rays Hit With Another Major Injury
Just as they were days away from getting their Ace, Snell, back from injury OF Tommy Pham broke his leg. He’ll be out for 1-2 months. If his recovery takes closer to 2 months his season will likely be over. Morton is still 2-3 weeks from returning.

Playoff Race Heating Up As Final Month Arrives
The division races are mostly decided at this point, with only 2 remaining competitive. We have a tight 3 way battle in the AL West, with the Astros and A’s both sitting 2 games behind LAA. In the NL East, the Nats sit only 1 game ahead of the Mets. The Phillies remain alive as well, 4 games behind the Nats. The NL WC is down to a 3 team race, with the Mets and Dodgers holding the spots. Philly is right on their heels, only half a game back. The AL WC is where it gets interesting. The Astros and A’s hold the WC spots with Tampa and Boston both a game behind. 4 teams, 2 spots. Should come down to the end.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

                                What's up fellas!

So this is the first time I've ever decided whatever happens, happens in my Franchise... But I do have a few questions.

I'll be doing 30 team Franchise, I really just want to control D'Backs and that's it...

                                - Reading thru this thread, I've noticed about knowing when someone is interested in one of your players. How does that happen? It is because said player is on the trade block?

                                - If I set full 40 man rosters, the CPU will call up and down send, etc? Like promote Vlad Jr, Senzel, demote guys who are struggling, DFA players?

                                - CPU teams make smart trades and FA signings? Meaning trading for or signing based on needs.
