Cardinals place Juan Fabregas on 10 Day IL
The Cardinals have placed LF Juan Fabregas on the 10 Day IL due to a pulled groin. Fabregas felt something was wrong during batting practice prior to the series finale against the Cubs. After testing, the Cardinals staff determined it was best to shelf Fabregas for at least 2 weeks due to the injury.
Dylan Carlson was recalled from Memphis to take the open active roster spot.
Cardinals outright release Sam Freeman
The Cardinals have outright released RP Sam Freeman yesterday. Freeman was in Memphis where he pitched to a 6.27 ERA and being extremely ineffective. Earlier this year the Cardinals removed him from the 40 man roster and after still struggling the Cardinals have just decided to part ways.
If he goes unclaimed the Cardinals will owe Freeman $750K for the 2023 season.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
For the first time since 2012, the Yankees are officially back on top of the AL East after a division clinching win at home over the Rangers. We took 2 of 3 from the A’s the series before, and then swept Texas in 3. After that we traveled to Boston for a 4 game set with the Red Sox who are battling for a WC spot. We absolutely destroyed them, sweeping them by scores of 7-3, 9-1, 5-0, and 7-3. We’ve had their number all year long, only losing 3 games to them.
Record is now 105-40, we’ll easily top the 108 Win Mark set by the 2018 Red Sox. It looks almost certain that we will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Unfortunately DJ LeMahieu went down with a sprained ACL, but luckily he’ll be back in just 1-2 weeks. He sustained the injury making a beautiful diving stop at 3B vs Boston. Fenway seems to be bad luck for our IF’s health. First EE earlier in the second half and now LeMahieu. The LeMahieu injury is a small consequence of going all out to knock Boston down the WC standings even with the division already secured.
Judge has gone ice cold at the plate with his AVG dropping to 316 and remaining stuck at 60 HR’s. He could possibly see some rest days against lefty pitching the rest of the way to make sure he’s rested for October.
EE is on fire since returning from the IL on August 30th. His line is steadily rising with his BA up to 275. He could be brought back for next season despite being age 36 if the price is right.
Highlights Of Latest Stretch OF Games:
MadBum’s First Save
After Chapman surrendered 2 runs while only getting 1 out in the 9th Vs the A’s at Yankee Stadium allowing them to cut it to a 4-3 game, manager Aaron Boone stunned everyone, sending in SP Madison Bumgarner to lock down the win. They’d get runners on 1st and second off MadBum but with Ottavino ready to go, Boone stuck with his Ace for the last out and it payed off. Is there anything Bumgarner can’t do?
Domingo German tosses 6.2 scoreless innings vs Red Sox
He did benefit from near perfect defense behind him, but it’s still pretty impressive to see from the promising young arm. It’s somewhat safe to say that Tanaka isn’t getting that rotation spot back at this point.
Remaining schedule:
3 @ Detroit
3 @ Toronto
3 Vs LAA
3 Vs Toronto
2 @ Tampa
3 @ Texas
News:
Rumor: Yankees To Call Up Jose Bautista from AAA In Next Few Days
Jose Bautista is reportedly set to join the MLB club in Toronto in a few days for a road series vs his former team. Jays fans will get to say goodbye to a former team icon one last time.
Bartolo Colon Countdown: Colon is still set to remain sidelined for another 3-4 weeks. It’s gonna be very close, like last few games close. The clock is ticking. Can he make it back in time to take the mound one last time?

Cardinals place Michael Wacha on 10 Day IL
Injuries continue to mount for the Cardinals as they just placed SP Michael Wacha on the 10 Day IL due to a shoulder tear. Wacha is expected to miss 2 months which would put his return at the beginning of August.
The Cardinals just can't get away from injuries as they now have their top 3 rotational pieces on the IL:
Carlos Martinez - Wrist - still a month from returning
Michael Wacha - Shoulder - return early August
Jack Flaherty - Tricep - will return in the next 3-5 days
This latest setback has the Cardinals scurrying around to see what they may need to do to survive this wave of bad luck that has fallen upon them. They are currently 8-13 in the month of May and with injuries continuing to be an ongoing issue for this club, the Cardinals may have to look to outside resources to maintain in the race for the NL Central. They are currently 4 1/2 games back of the Cubs.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Looking for some advice. Should I manually scout, or should I let the CPU scout? When I manually scout, I go through all the positions in about a month and then leave a month for scouting individual players. I scout for two days on each player unless I'm really interested in them and I do three or four. However, it doesn't really feel like I have many people scouted. Also, the people I scout don't really have good ratings. I only scout about 5 prospects with 80 POT. And once the draft roles around, my list of scouted players is bare after two rounds. Does the CPU scout better? Should I let them scout for me?

Opening Day
Reds 4 (10hits) def Pirates 3 (7h)
WP: Luis Castillo - 6IP (95) 6h 2R 2BB 3SO
LP: Tailon 4IP (103) 8h 4R 1BB 3SO
Save: R. Iglesiais (1)
J Votto 3-4 HR 3RBI
N Senzel 2-4 in hsi Major League debut
M. Cabrera 3-3 2RBI 1BB
C. Dickerson 2-4 RBI 1r
The Reds kicked off their season opener with a win.
Castillo started shaky & gave up a 38 pitch & 2 run 1st inning before pitching himself out of a bases loaded jam. The Reds came straight back but could only manage one run as they batted around on their own 35 pitch 1st inning; as both pitchers struggled to get outs.
Joey Votto crushed a high hanging fastball in the 4th inning for a two-run homer which gave the Reds a 4-2 lead and chased Taillon from the game.
The Pirates clawed a run back in the top of the 8th from a Melky Cabrera line drive to deep centre right field, but Rasiel Iglesias came in for the save opportunity, and after a nervous moment of giving up a hit and a walk on back-to-back batters, pitched his way out of the jam to his first save of the season.
Notes: Reds Spring Training acquisition Francisco Meija made his Cincinnati debut. He got the Reds rolling in the first coming up with a clutch two-out RBI double and also scored a run later in the game on Votto's longball. Meija was also solid behind the plate calling a clean game with no errors.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
A week to the trade deadline and the Nationals continue to close in. They're only 3.5 back now. We did end up winning the finale of that four-game series, 10-1. But we split with the Royals while the Nats swept the Rockies.
We're looking to add a SP and a backup CF. Ross Stripling is the best of the SPs on the block, so we'll probably wait to see what's out there in August. Haven't been able to find any good CFs on the block either, so we dipped back to my MLB 18 franchise and signed Lane Adams to a two-year, $1.2M deal. He'll start in AA since he's not on the 40-man. But I'll call him up at some point to serve as a bench piece. At the very least, he can pinch run. But I had success with him in my franchise last year.
We did get Georgia native Clint Frazier from the Yankees for Miguel Cabral, an A-level generated SP prospect.
Also weighing moving Darren O'Day. He's had a great year, but I'm about $5M over budget and he's making $7.7M.
So far, the biggest moves have been the Red Sox getting Hunter Strickland and the Reds bringing back Billy Hamilton.Comment

2023 White Sox Franchise - Game 3 World Series
Another well pitched game for both teams as the White Sox had Carlos Carrasco on the mound up against Drew Smyly for the Cubs.
RBI single by Sox 3B Jeremy Ramirez in the bottom half of the 3rd would bring home the only run of the game as the Sox take a 2-1 Series lead shutting out the Cubs 1-0.
Game 4 tomorrow night will have Kevin DiBiase on the mound for the Sox and Duane Underwood for the Cubs.Attached FilesComment

I don't know if scouting is much different in 19 than it is in 18, so I don't know if this will work as well for you.
But I do something similar. Manual scouting is the way for me. I hire the best coaches in discovery and efficiency, one for each region. Then I send them to discover in their region. Starting with right handed pitching and whichever attribute you want a focus on (I normally do command because it helps with walks) and gave them discover for five days. Then switch each over to left handed, and do the same. Rinse and repeat for each position except catchers, who only get three days of discovery because there doesn't seem to be many. This usually puts me about halfway through April, maybe three-quarters of the way.
The rest of the time until the draft is spent on scouting specific prospects. I look to see who has at least a 60 overall, regardless of potential, since the overall doesn't seem to change when scouting. The starting values seem set. After that, I look at individual attributes on their player card to see if the starting values are in the range I want them to be, and check their injury threat to make sure it's not "high". If they check the boxes I look for, they get scouted for three days by the scout for their region. That usually puts them to almost a full scouting profile (If you have high efficiency rating with your scout). This usually gives me a pretty solid draft board to look at, and I've had people scouted still available to me come round five before, though that is rare.
All in all, I'd say for the most part you'll really only be able to scout people for maybe the first three rounds, four if your lucky/have an early pick.
But this has worked for me, and has allowed me to stockpile prospects I was thrilled with in plenty of franchisesPistol Power- The Coaching Career of Zarek Stryker

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread
Urghhh, another false start... I've had to start my franchise again. This time on default rosters, making a bunch of FA & trades.
The current rosters just aren't the place to start a franchise. I played the pirates in my opening series and outscored them 19-2 in a series sweep. They just had one calamitous pitcher after another. their infield couldn't make a play to save themselves and it was error on top of error.
So .... all that aside. I've started a Miami Marlins franchise. Start from the bottom and work my way up.Comment

Opening Day
Florida 2 def Colorado 1
D. Rodriguez 7IP 3h 1R 1ERA 3BB 9SO
K. Freeland 7.2 IP 6h 2R 2ERA 1BB 5SO - Loss
C. Smith 1IP 1h 0BB 1SO - Win
S. Romo 1IP 1h 0BB 2SO - Save
A thrilling game from start to finish. It had everything. Good pitching, clutch hitting, errors galore.
Kyle Freeland dominated until the 8th inning when Bud Black left him out 1 inning too many. The rockies were up 1-nil when Freeland opened the 8th with a walk to leadoff. Then he gave up a hit, with runners on 2nd & 3rd Scott Kingery grounded out to deep 2B and a run crossed over.
Then Starling Castro found a gap with a two-out double to deep right centre field, for the go ahead run.
Sergio Romo came on for the 9th, and gave up a base hit on his way to his first save.
Notes
Florida made three spring season trades acquiring Scott Kingery from the Phillies for JT Riddle & prospects, and also Dereck Rodriguez from the Giants for pitching prospects. Also, Travis Janokowski came over from San Diego for a bottle of gatorade and some potato crisps.Comment

2023 White Sox Franchise - Game 5 World Series
Sox looking to win the 2nd straight World Series in Game 5 have Omar Salgado on the mound up against Kyle Hendricks for the Cubs trying to stay alive and force a Game 6.
If you like pitching, the Cy Young winners didn't disappoint.
The game remained a scoreless tie until the top half of 8th inning when the Cubs broke through off the Sox bullpen on an Albert Almora Sac Fly. 1-0 CHC
Sox offense couldn't muster more than 4 hits and couldn't score so the Cubs stay alive and force Game 6 back on the north side of town.

2023 White Sox Franchise - Game 6 World Series
Michael Kopech takes the ball for the White Sox trying to win the Series against Adbert Alzolay trying to force Game 7 for the Cubs.
Another pitching duel with the Cubs yet again scoring the only run on a Gleyber Torres solo HR in the bottom half of the 3rd inning to force a Game 7.
Starting to feel like what Indians fans were feeling back in 2016...
Can the Sox have a better fate than those 2016 Indians or will the Cubs come back from down 3 games to 1 again to win the crown?
