Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Hey guys! Ended up taking 2 of 3 from the Brewers last night. Coming up next; a three game set versus a terrible Cincinnati Reds ball club. Every game is crucial at this point and the Cards need some help from other teams as well. Not giving up until I'm officially eliminated though.

Firing up the stream right now. Current Record: 63-70!

MLB CARDINALS TAKE 2 of 3 IN PITTSBURGH

After sweeping the Giants at home St Louis would carry that momentum into Pittsburgh winning the first game of a 3 game set pretty decisively 8-4! Extending their streak to 5 in a row! But Chad Kuhl would be the star of game 2 for Pittsburgh shutting the Cardinals out for 8 innings en route to a 7-0 victory ending the Cards streak! Game 3 would be a nail biter! Hard fought for 12 innings! But St Louis would finally win the game 7-6 giving them their sixth win in 7 games! St Louis remains 8 games out of the Wildcard however despite their recent successes! But they have claimed they will play it out to the best of their abilities. Unfortunately that August meltdown is looking too big to overcome!

Up next 3 games in Colorado!

Tulowitzki and Weaver to the IL

The Cardinals have placed Troy Tulowitzki (back) and Luke Weaver (hamstring) on the 10 Day IL.

Tulo was the topic of discussion in serious trade talks between the Cards and the Padres, but with this recent injury, those talks have seized. Don't expect Tulo to be traded this year.

Weaver had made himself a fixture in the rotation since getting his call up in May and was solid. He's expected to miss the 10 days and return, so he'll miss two starts.

Yairo Munoz and Drew Harrington were recalled from Memphis to fulfill the vacant roster spots.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

          July 7, 2019

          Orioles record: 40-50 (4th, 19.0 GB)

We played much better in June and looked like a respectable team for the most part, going 14-12 on the month. We saw a few of our minor trades pay off: Jason Vargas has pitched well and Eric Thames is batting .283 and slugging near .500. Lefty John Means has been dynamite since getting the call from Norfolk, going 2-2 with a 2.91 ERA in 6 starts. We fired off a particularly hot stretch in mid-June, winning 5/6 series. One of those was at home against the first-place Red Sox that saw us draw crowds near 35,000 for all 3 games (not bad for a 4th place team).

Alex Cobb has struggled with injury and ineffectiveness, and was successfully passed through waivers and assigned to AAA. Dylan Bundy was also optioned (again) as was Brandon Drury. Richie Martin heads back to AAA as well, as I continue to cycle through shortstops. Hernan Perez holds it down for now, he is the 4th “starter” I am trying at the position this season.

One more game with the last place Jays before All-Star week. The Red Sox have moved ahead in the division and are 3.5 up on the Rays, 6.5 up on the Yankees. Cleveland and Houston still lead their divisons.

The Nationals have exploded past the Braves and Phils in the NL east, the only real significant divisional change since my last update. They lead the division by 13.5. The Reds are 0.5 up on the Cardinals, and the Rockies are 0.5 up on the Dodgers in the west.

All-Star week will kick off with the futures game - outfielder and #1 prospect Yusniel Diaz will be our lone representative.

MEMPHIS MOVES ON IN DRAMATIC FASHION TO PLAY SACRAMENTO FOR PCL CHAMPIONSHIP

            IMG_0258.jpg

            Game 4:
            Robinson Ortiz vs Genesis Cabrera

Both teams would have young starters pitching for game 4. Ortiz looked sharp for the Dodgers but Cabrera would stumble early allowing 4 runs and the Dodgers to bat around in the first! Highlighted by a 2 run HR by Valera!

            IMG_0259.jpg

            IMG_0260.jpg

The Redbirds would waste no time and bring in Seijas to start the second. Seijas was a standout at aa Springfield all year, and was moved up just before the series to work long relief and special circumstances in this series. He would pitch 3 solid shut down innings in relief. Bader led off the 4th with a solo shot making the score 4-1. Which it would stay until the 7th inning.

            IMG_0261.jpg

            IMG_0262.jpg

            IMG_0263.jpg

The Redbirds would get 2 more in the 7th and another in the 9th tying it up and sending the game to extra innings! Memphis would completely exhaust their bullpen bringing Brebbia (Closer) in for the first time in the series for a tie game in the 11th. He would pitch 3 innings and even play a part in their big 13th inning offensive outburst. The Redbirds would score 5 in that inning sealing the deal and sending them to the PCL Championship series!

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

                2019 All-Star Week

All-Star week kicked off with the home run derby, and your 2019 champ is Angels slugger Justin Bour. He beats out ageless wonder Nelson Cruz in the finals to hoist the trophy.

We had only one representative in Cleveland for the game, outfielder Jonathan Villar. Villar came over from Milwaukee in the Jonathan Schoop trade last summer. He spent the first several years of his career as a multi-position utilityman, but he’s found a home as our regular centerfielder this season where he runs down plenty of balls in the gap with his lightning speed and bats out of the leadoff spot. His numbers are not eye-popping, hitting ~.265 with 9 HR, however he has stolen 38 bases and is proving a more than capable defender.

I think two guys on our team got snubbed out of an all-star appearance - DH Mark Trumbo and OF Chris Coghlan. Trumbo missed the first 7 weeks of the season recovering from an injury, but he’s been red-hot since the day he returned. He’s hitting over .300 with 16 HR and 50 RBI. Coghlan you may remember as the 2009 NL rookie of the year with the Florida Marlins. He seems to have found his stroke again with Baltimore after signing as a free agent during spring training, ranking in the top-5 in the AL in hitting as well as slugging over .500 with 15 HR.

The AL won a tight game, 3-1. Rays closer Jose Alvarado locked down the save and MVP honors.

Next up we look ahead to the trade deadline. At 40-51 and 20 games out of the division race, we will be looking to sell off some pieces in an attempt to retool for next season. There has already been a flurry of intriguing trade activity - I’ll highlight the entertaining ones, and who from Baltimore will be on the block, in my next update.

Jays had a 3-0 lead early. Bumgarner was cruising throwing 5 scoreless innings. The 6th inning the Sox put up a 3 spot and tied the ballgame.

The Jays would come through in the 9th with an RBI single by Vlad Jr and shut the door in the bottom half to advance to the ALDS vs CLE.

The 113-49 Indians were scary looking. The Jays offense was riding high though, as they SWEPT the Indians. 10-7, 8-5, 9-3. Game 1 saw the Jays down 7-1 and they roared back against Kluber and won.

Next up was the Houston Astros for the right to represent the AL in the World Series. What a series it was.

Jays offense kept rolling game one with a 9-6 victory. Game two Whitley cruised and shut the Jays down in a 5-1 defeat.

Francis Martes picked up right after and shut the Jays down in game 3. No offense again in a 4-1 defeat despite 10 hits.

Game 4 saw the Jays with an early 4-2 lead through 3 innings. The Astros would tie it all up 5-5 in the 6th. The Jays would put a run up in the 8th and Cody Allen closed the game for the Jays to even up the series at 2 games a piece.

Verlander was roughed up early in game 5, giving up 5R in 5 innings and 10 hits. Aaron Sanchez tossed 6IP and 3ER to a 6-4 victory for the Jays. 3-2 series lead.

Astros needed a big start from Brad Peacock in game 6 and got it. He tossed 5.2IP of scoreless ball, and the rest of the bullpen completed the shutout. Astors win game 6 3-0.

Game 7. For a trip to the World Series vs the Cubs. Whitley Vs Bumgarner.

Jays jumped out in front scoring a run an inning in the 2nd-5th. Taking a 4-0 commanding lead. Bumgarner was dialing up a great game. Then the 5th inning came. Astros came alive and put up a 7 spot. Jays could not stop the tear. 8-4 Astros after 6.

Jays would not give up. Lucroy hit a leadoff HR in the 7th. Then Vlad Jr hit a massive 3rHR to tie up the game. 8-8.

Bottom 9. Runners at first and second 2 outs. Yan Gomes up for the Astros. Hits a towering 3R walkoff blast to take the Astros to the World Series. Heartbreak for Toronto.

MVP: Gyorko. Amazing. I have never hit this well with someone in a postseason.

                  43ABS, .488AVG, 7HR, 16RBI.

What a season. Passed expectations and could not have asked for more from this Jays team. Lets see what will happen in the offseason.
                  Forgot to update!

2020 Offseason: Jays coming off a trip to the ALCS in 2020 look to improve.

There were some big fish in the FA market, but the Jays have there eyes on the coveted 2021 class. But they do make some moves to stay competitive in the AL East.

Jays extend SP Marcus Stroman 4 YR 46mill

Jays decide to let SP Aaron Sanchez hit free agency.

Jays sign 35 year old Yoenis Cespedes 2YR 25mil
Jays sign 35 year old Carlos Gonzalez 1 yr 4 mill
Jays sign 36 year old Matt Kemp 1 year 3 million

Jays trade SP Riley Pint (B) 73OVR, SP Adam Kloffenstein (B) 68OVR for
SP Jake Arrieta 80OVR, RP Victor Arano 79ovr and RP David Robertson 82ovr.

Jays felt they needed another veteran arm in the rotation. The Phillies were coming off a 75 win 2020 season and were looking to dump off veterans while gaining good prospects. Jays get two big bullpen arms, and a starter in Jake Arrieta who in 2020 went 15-7, 2.53ERA. Arrieta and Robertson only have one year left on there deals.

That wraps up the Jays offseason!

Is there a way to turn CPU trades on or off after you have already started a franchise?

I think I accidentally have them off thinking that would allow me to control them all but that hasn't been the case.

Just finished the month of May in my Blue Jays franchise.. It's been a bit of struggle, but I excepted to be in worse shape in the division at this point. I sit at 25-32 which is good for 3rd in the Division. 10.5 games back from Boston and 12.5 back from the Yankees. I traded Aaron Sanchez for prospects (2 RP & CF) I can't remember the names at the moment.

My next trade(s) will be moving Smoak somewhere and possibly Stroman. Looking to get some starting pitching with those deals.

Having a blast with this game so far!

Its August 20th 2025 and the dog days of summer are officially here for my Cubs. We are currently 9 games up in the central with a 74-52 record. We have lost the first 2 games of a 3 game set in Wrigley to the hands of the 79-47 Dodgers. They have a really good team that includes 33 year old Mike Trout and 30 year old Cody Bellinger.

Statwise Harper is still on his great pace for me and sits at .328 with 47 Hrs and 128 rbis. Kris Bryant is at .287 with 42 Hrs and 104 Rbis and Morgan Duran is at .265 ave with 38 Hrs and 105 Rbis. These 3 are really carrying the power load for my team and Rolando Higgins is filling the role of table setter nicely to the tune of .313 ave, .426 on-base and 84 steals.

Overall 2025 league wide has had a real steroid era fell to it. As a pitching staff, I have given up over 230 hrs...this seems really high, but it fine to me because in kinda feels like the league changing and honestly who knows how 2025 is gonna look IRL. I've prided myself offensively as being a tremendous combination of power and speed. I have several 220+ Hr team years and conversely several 200+ steal teams. I really do chase speed in my scouting. At 126 games in 2025 as a team I'm hitting .277 with 168 Hrs and 230 steals. I should obliterate my personal best steal record. I know that no team will steal the way I do, but even as a Cubs fan I was always jealous of Whitey Herzog's Cards team and the way they ran the bases.

                            MountUrCastle's San Francisco Giants Rebuils

                            June 18: Draft Day
                            start of the future

The San Francisco Giants entered this year's MLB draft with the 2nd overall pick within each round.

The Bay Bombers drafted 2B Mariano Perez with their 1st round pick. The second baseman from Panama can play 2B as well as both center and right field. He projects to have a good bat with great speed and excellent fielding, making him great for any position. The Giants decided to draft Perez over a longer-term prospect to head their rebuild in order to have a new face of the franchise asap, and if all goes well, Perez could be remembered as one of the best Giants ever.

With their next slew of picks, the Giants went pitcher heavy- drafting 3 starting pitchers, one closer, and one reliever. Two notable picks are SP Lionel "Lee" Hamlin, a lefty out of California with A-tier velocity and great break right out of the draf, and Jose Aviles, another lefty out of Ace Tech HS. Both project to be middle-of-the-pen starters in the near future.

                            Giants top-10 prospects after draft:
                            1. Heliot Ramos; 18 years old, centerfielder, A
                            2. Aramis Garcia, 25 years old, catcher, B
                            3. Mariano Perez, 20 years old, 2B, A
                            4. Joey Bart, 21 years old, catcher, A
                            5. Sean Hjelle, 20 years old, starting pitcher, B
                            6. Lee Hamlin, 21 years old, starting pitcher, B
                            7. Sandro Fabian, 20 years old, right fielder, B
                            8. Tyler Beede, 24 years old, SP, A
                            9. Shaun Anderson, 23, SP B
                            10. Jose Aviles, 18, SP B

I think I accidentally have them off thinking that would allow me to control them all but that hasn't been the case.
The only think you can do is turn the trade frequency slider all the way down

2019 Dodgers (85-42) take 3 out of 4 over the Giants (69-56) by scores of 1-0, 3-5, 4-3, and 4-0. Dodgers had to call up SS Gregory Ozuna and 3B Donovan Solano just to make it through the series with the injuries that have piled up and players needing rest.

On the between series off day, 3B Justin Turner returns from the 60 day IL from a broken hand. C Austin Barnes returns from 10 day IL.

Dodgers send Solano back to AAA Oklahoma City to make room for Turners return. Kike Hernandez will go back to his original back up role.

Next up is a 3 game series on the road against the D-backs (61-63). Projected pitching matchups:

                                Game 1: W. Buehler (13-5, 2.60) vs M. Montgomery (5-13, 4.05)

                                Game 2: R. Stripling (11-5, 2.10) vs Z. Greinke (16-6, 2.90)

                                Game 3: J. Urias (10-5, 3.35) vs R. Ray (8-8, 4.04)
