Yeah man, it was a very rough month of August and it probably ended my season. I ended up winning the one game I played last night 11-10. Even after being up 10-2, lol.

I'm actuallly about to fire up the stream and get at least one game in tonight. Starting a 4 game set against the very terrible Giants. They may have a poor record, but they're always scrappy against me.

Current Record: 64-72 (Still fighting!) Stream is going live!

      *BASEBALL HEAVEN*

      ***

      FROM THE CARDINALS PERSPECTIVE

A 2019 DREAM-CHISE WITH ALL LEGENDS INCORPORATED INTO THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS

      ***

      *MLB UPDATE (NOT AAA)*

CARDINALS AND ROCKIES TALLY A COMBINED 47 RUNS AND 76 HITS IN 3 GAME COORS FIELD SLUGFEST

St. Louis would take 2 out of 3 games in an absolute crazy display of offensive firepower!

      IMG_0285.jpg

      Game 1:
      Asher vs Gibson

Gibson was fantastic through 6, handing a 6-2 lead over to the usual lights out portion of the bullpen in the 7th. Sutter would get the first 2 outs but allow the Rockies to push across 2 runs in the process culminating with a double putting a man on 2nd with 2 outs. Sutter obviously not having his best stuff was replaced by Hicks to get the last out in the person of Dante Bichette. But Bichette was on a personal mission in this series sitting at a career HR total of 298, reaching for that oh so sweet 300 club! Number 299 would tie the game in the bottom of the 7th at 6! Hicks would get out of that inning, and St Louis would promptly respond in the top of the 8th with a 2 run shot by Gyorko, regaining the lead 8-6! Hicks would return to the mound in the 8th and manage to get the first 2 outs, but put men on 2nd and 3rd in the process! The Cards would bring in Miller early for the 4 out save attempt. He would not disappoint and allow no more as the Cardinals would add another in the ninth to win by a final of 9-6, making that save number 40 on the year for Miller! Gibson was robbed of yet another win as Hicks (the man who blew it) got the W!

      IMG_0286.jpg

      Game 2:
      Freeland vs Martinez

The Cards would come right out swinging, with Ozzie hitting a lead off triple to start the game! And promptly being sac flied home for the early 1-0 lead! In the top of the 3rd Molina would reach his own milestone with the 2000th hit of his career, and St Louis would add 3 more in that inning making it 4-0 good guys!

      IMG_0287.jpg

But in the bottom half of that same inning, Bichette would waste no more time sharing his spotlight, and blast number 300! A 2 run shot capping a 3 run inning for Colorado and bringing them back within 1 run! 4-3 Cardinals! After a brief stoppage of play to commemorate the 300 club induction, the game was back on!

      IMG_0288.jpg

      IMG_0290.jpg

      IMG_0289.jpg

Colorado would get another run in the bottom of the 4th tying it up at 4-4! That’s how it would stay until the top of the 7th when the Cards would add 2 more giving them a 6-4 lead going to the bottom half. With Sutter not being available, Vizcaino would come in and handle the 7th without incident. Hicks would come in for the 8th with the score still 6-4. Bichette would strike again with a solo shot bringing it to 6-5!

      IMG_0291.jpg

Hicks then walked Arenado but Struck out Story, then walked Tulo putting men on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and the Rockies backup catcher Wolters at the plate, desperately needing that double play! But Wolters would smash a double to the rightfield corner giving Colorado a 7-6 lead! Gant would come in and be greated with another double to the same spot on his very first pitch making it 8-6! He would work out of the inning from there but the damage was done and the Rocks would take game 2!

      IMG_0292.jpg

      Game 3:
      Gray vs Micholas

The sluggfest would not be done yet, as the Cardinals jumped out to an early 4 run lead in the first! And after just 5 innings Micholas would hand a 9-6 lead over to the bullpen! St Louis would add 1 in the seventh making it 10-6, but again the bullpen would get into trouble allowing 2 in the bottom of the eighth, and again calling on Miller with 4 outs to go and the bases loaded this time!

      IMG_0293.jpg

Again Miller would not disappoint! Worked out of the eighth and closed the game for number 41! What a series!

      IMG_0295.jpg

      IMG_0294.jpg

      Up next:
3 game weekend set at home against Milwaukee! Flaherty will take the mound against Woodruff for the first game on Friday.

Some how the Cardinals find themselves just 6 games out of the Wildcard but only 16 games left to play. Not a likely scenario to happen but they are definitely playing inspired ball at the moment trying!

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

        July 2019

        Team Record: 42-59 (4th)

We made our first move of the deadline period, shipping reliever Randall Delgado to Cleveland for 24-year-old Oscar Mercado. Delgado was solid for us in middle relief, eventually working his way up to a set-up role and generally was one of my better relievers since he was called up in April. He will fill a similar role on a first-place Indians team that lacks a consistent righty in front of closer Brad Hand. Mercado is a centerfielder who can also play in the infield, and has the profile of a utility player with plus defense and the ability to steal bases. His bat isn’t much but he is hitting over .300 in AAA and is close to the majors.

The Red Sox are by far the most active team so far, pulling a major blockbuster trade with Seattle. They ship SS Tzu Wei Lin, 2B Nicky Lopez, and SP Denyi Reyes to Seattle for Dee Gordon and Anthony Swarzak. The Sox now have a 4.5 game lead in the East and are basically going balls to the wall with building a playoff roster.

Jason Vargas has pitched well for us over his last two starts, locking up career win #100 in a 6 inning, 2 run effort against the D-Backs in Arizona. He is still on the block as are a few others who I will be looking to move before the 31st.

Edit: Forgot to mention I signed reliever Mychal Givens to a team-friendly extension, 5-years for $28 mil. That Buys out 3 years of free agency and keeps him an Oriole through his age 33 season. He has been our best reliever and having him locked up gives me a good starting point for building a winning bullpen next season and beyond.

          End of Season - 2022

I decided to restart my franchise with the draft now over. Gotta get some Bobby Witt Jr on the team. Sim the last few months of my current franchise though to see how things played out. It didn't end like we would have liked. In large part due to injuries and a couple of guys underperforming.

Salvador Perez only played in 90 games. Jorge Soler only 115. And Jake Junis only made 24 starts. All 3 were pretty good when healthy. Junis had a 3.08 ERA. Salvy had his best season in a long time hitting .274/.326/.476 with 19 HR. And Jorge Soler took his 1 year prove it deal and slashed .313/.380/.540 with 24 HR.

Whit, O'Hearn and JBJ all had 6.5+ WAR. Whit hit a career high 25 HR at 33. Ryan O'Hearn had the 2nd highest OPS in Royals history at 1.024. And JBJ was the best player on the team hitting .303/.391/.546 with 31 HR. Connor Christiansen won Rookie of the Year hitting .272/.435/.512 with 21 HR in 97 games. As for the bad Mike Foltynewicz had an ERA of 4.31. Mondesi hit .235/.303/.428. Khalil Lee was even worse hitting .225/.300/.398. And somehow even worse than that was Nick Pratto hitting .184/.275/.268 after coming up to help fill in for injuries.

We finished with 93 wins. The Twins won the division with 94. Had Salvy, Soler and Junis not gotten hurt in the 2nd half we easily get 94 wins. We tried our best at the end though. We won the last 7 games of the year as well as taking 2 of 3 against the Twins in our last series against them. 1 more year and we probably get over the hump.

Bryce Harper and Chris Sale were the 2 MVPs. Sale and Kershaw the Cy Youngs. The Braves went on to win the World Series thanks to Acuna and Kris Bryant in his first year on the team.

Cardinals place Jon Singleton on Trade Waivers

The Cardinals have placed Jon Singleton on trade waivers after the July 31st trade deadline came and went. Singleton was mentioned a few times by the front office as a guy that they would listen to offers on, but nothing really took shape.

Singleton will be on waivers for 2 days and if unclaimed will be able to be traded to any club should the Cardinals choose that option.

There is growing opinion in the clubhouse and around the front office that Singleton will indeed be moved one way or the other, in favor of bringing up Brendan McKay and letting him finish the year playing first base everyday to get ready for the 2023 season.

              MountUrCastle's San Francisco Giants Rebuild

              Trade Deadline
              madbum goes big

The Giants had a big trade deadline today, making 5 deals in moves to liquidate their upcoming free agents in a bid to stock up the prospect pool.

Their first and arguably biggest move for the deadline was trading Madison Bumgarner to the Texas Rangers for prospect Leody Taveras, pitcher Martin Perez, and RF Shin-Soo Choo. This trade proved difficult to make as only 2 teams who were interested in Bumgarner had both the prospects the Giants would want as well as the appropriate salary to move back to take on what's left of his 21.2 million dollar contract, one team obviously being the Rangers while the speculated second team was the New York Yankees, who allegedly offered J.A Happ, Estevan Florial, and David Robertson to get the Giants ace.

The second trade the Bombers made was moving 2B Joe Panik to the Yankees for pitching prospects Clarke Schmidt and Luis Medina. Panik brings another great bat to the pinstripes, and while Joe still had another year of control on him the Giants did not feel comfortable paying to his demands. With Justus Sheffield, Jordan Montgomery, Matt Sauer in the minors and a ton of cap space to play with in free agency this year, moving starting pitching was a reasonable play for the Yankees to make.

The third trade that was made was reliever Mark Melancon to the competing Mets for SS prospect Andres Giminez. Giminez was caught behind Rosario, Cecchini, and Vientos as the future SS for the Mets, while the addition of Melancon gives them a dominant relieving staff to back up Syndergaard and DeGrom for their playoff push

The Giants then made an interesting trade with the Cubs, where they took on the contracts of Yu Darvish and Ben Zobrist while acquiring LF prospect Colde Roederer in exchange for SP Johnny Cueto and LF Alec Hanson. This move was done simply to break down the salary being given to Cueto in 2 other players. Expect Zobrist to be moved in the offseason.

The final trade the G-Men made was to trade one of their top prospects in Tyler Beede to the Pirates for one of their top prospects in 2B Kevin Kramer. This brings in a second basemen similar in value to Panik to fill in as the starter at the top of the diamond who was stuck behind Josh Harrison, while Tyler Beede adds another interesting pitching prospect to the Pirates pool.

In his first game back from the IL, Justin Turner picks up career hits 999 and 1,000 in a Dodgers win on the road against the D-Backs. He looks to be fully recovered from the Fractured Hand that kept him out for 2 months.

MLB the Show 19 - Baltimore Orioles Franchise

We’ve completed our second deal of the deadline period, shipping outfielder Chris Coghlan to San Francisco for 28-year-old outfielder Mac Williamson. Coghlan was a pleasant surprise for us this season, playing all 3 outfield spots and batting over .300 all year. He’ll play every day in SF as their current outfield of Gerardo Parra, Mike Gerber, and Kevin Pillar have all had sub-par offensive seasons. The Giants don’t have much of a shot at the division but an extremely tight NL wild card race has 7-8 teams within 5 games of qualifying for the second spot.

Williamson is an adequate defender with not much of a bat, and at 28 is likely organizational depth. A bit disappointed we couldn’t get more for Coghlan, who was my most consistent offensive producer this season.

Trumbo, Morrison, and Vargas are still on the block.

Memphis again changed their starter just before gametime, deciding to save Wacha for game 3 and start Wainwright at home instead! And again the Redbirds brass would be rewarded for trusting their gut, as Waino was in top form! Allowing only 1 run and 4 hits through 6 2/3 innings before handing a 4-1 lead to the bullpen with 2 outs in the 7th! And the bullpen would allow nothing else! Memphis added 2 more in the eighth making the final score 6-1!

I asked this question sometime ago in the last couple years when Andrew Miller was an Indian. wanna ask again of Cardinal franchisers: did you make Miller your closer or leave him as a setup man? I ask because he has become one of my favourite relievers in-game. would love to get him on Baltimore for a go, but really he'd be wasted there. probably couldn't even get 15 saves in Baltimore. but thats okay 'cause I'm really starting to warm to Givens as my closer, though I wish I could have made Darren O'Day my closer. sure miss him.

sorry for the ramble. back to my original query: Andrew Miller, closing in St. Louis?

The Cardinals dropped yet another series as the Pirates beat them 2 out of the 3 games. The Cardinals, again, managed to salvage the series finale to avoid being swept. This marks the 4th straight series the Cardinals have lost.

The Cardinals find themselves now 12 1/2 games out of first and 7 games back of the wildcard.

                          Hopefully August will be better.

Game 3 would be Wacha vs Pomeranz. The game would be tight throughout, and Wacha would hand a 4-2 lead to the pen in the 7th!

Cecil would give 1 run back and put 2 more on, clearly not having his best stuff. Memphis quickly brought Leone in who hit the first batter he faced loading the bases then allowing a 2 run single giving the River Cats a 5-4 lead!

Then in the bottom of the 10th Chris Shaw would send Sacramento into a frenzy with a towering solo shot to right putting the series now at 2-1 Memphis!

Louis?

Definitely closing for me! And that’s with Bruce Sutter in the same bullpen! Lol

After dropping yet another game to another bad team, the season is quickly dwindling right in front of me. 10 games under .500 and 11 games back of the Wild Card with just 24 to play, the hope is nearly extinguished for the 2019 season.

Looking forward to 2020, year 2. I think with the unlikely possibility of making the playoffs now, I'm going to finish the season off by trying out a more clean screen approach to the game. Going to change some camera views as well and see how I adjust/like it. 24 games should be enough sample size for me to figure out how I want to play the next season.

That being said, I'm still going to stream every game. About to hop on right now and play a game or two. Thanks for all the support so far this season, it's been fun chatting with some of you in the stream!
