Several weeks ago, manager Mike Matheny went on a tirade to the media about the front office and their changing of the roster, thus unbalancing the roster and lineup that Matheny had been using. The Cardinals traded away Troy Tulowitzki to the Dodgers who anchored the 6th spot in the lineup when healthy and provided a solid bat along with power. When Tulo was traded, the Cardinals placed Ozzie Albies into that spot as that is what fit, since Corey Ray (everyday right fielder with Tommy Pham being traded) hitting in the 2 spot, which is ideal for him in this lineup. Matheny argued that Albies didn't fit into the lineup and the 6 spot and presented a challenge for the lineup. Fast forward, and Matheny has a different opinion.

"Maybe he does fit into the 6 spot", Matheny said with a smile on his face. "He has been extremely productive in that spot as we've given him time. He hits for average, gets extra base hits, has pop, and provides an element in our lineup at that spot we didn't have with Tulo and DeJong, which is speed. He can steal bases, we can hit and run, it provides us a new weapon we didn't have before and I personally never considered before."

Albies is currently hitting .262 with 11 homeruns and 40 RBI's. While the homeruns and RBI's may seem low for a number 6 hitter, consider that Albies has only played in 73 games this entire season as he was limited to platoon duties in Minnesota, after the Twins acquired Carlos Correa in the offseason. Albies does currently own a 8 game hitting streak, a 13 game on base streak, and has 4 homeruns, 6 doubles, a triple, and 10 RBI's in that span. Oh and he also has 5 stolen bases in that span as well.

Yeah..I'd say that Albies in the 6 spot of the lineup is working out quite well for the Cardinals.
My 35yo Brock hit 6 pretty much all season and thrived there! Well over .300 average, 25 or so SB and wheels to give the bottom part of the order guys quality rbi opportunities! Like having a second chance with the lineup if the top part doesn’t come through.

    * also glad he’s finding his spot and the drama in Cardinals nation is settling down haha!!

Argh! NYM three game sweep of my Braves. Opening the Cubs series I take a look at my OPTIONS and somehow my hitting is on HOF!!!!!! No wonder. I blame my cat who I caught playing Fortnite the other day.

Put it back to AS and lost the first game to the Cubs 5-3. I tell you, Dallas Keuchel May have name recognition, but his attributes are so-so. He certainly has just been average since adding him to the roster.

Anyway, thanks to my cat now 40-40, 3.5 behind the Phils and 1 game up on third place Nats.

Dodgers advance to the NLCS with a 13-7 win over the Nationals winning the series 3-1. The Dodgers will face the defending World Champion Cubs.

After falling behind 5-0 in the the first the Dodgers scored 1 in 2nd and 4 in the 5th to tie the game. 4 runs in the 6th and 4 in the 8th held the lead even with given up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th.
Rich Hill earned the win for Dodgers in relief.

Muncy (2), Taylor (3), Seager (3) Conforto (2), and Puig (1) all drove in runs for the Dodgers.

Chris Sale’s record for the regular season (19-8), makes him appear the dominant starter over Vida Blue who finished with a kind of ugly (9-10) record. But anybody familiar with Blue and his abilities would cast no judgement based on that alone. A look into the rest of the numbers and you find these guys have very similar season credentials! The game time temperature was a chilly 49 degrees with rain, and 9 innings would not be enough for these 2 teams to decide which would advance to play the Yankees and which would be done for the year! In the 11th inning Boston would load the bases and JD Martinez would manage a fly ball deep enough to score Boggs making it 2-1! Which was plenty for Tiant who would come in for the save in the bottom half striking out Giambi and Henderson to end it! Bos vs NY in the ALDS! Sounds interesting!

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Blue Jays end April 2019 with a 14-15 record.

Impressive given the team moved rotation stalwarts Marcus Stroman (to Twins in exchange for Graterol, Gonsalves and Badoo), Aaron Sanchez (along with Ryan Tepera to the Padres for Naylor, Nix and Quantrill), and reliever Ken Giles (to LAA for Adams). Also added outfielder Andrew Toles from the Dodgers (I can't remember who I gave up for him, but feel like this was a potential rip off the CPU moment...)

The current rotation of Bucholz, Richard, Gonsalves, Borucki and Kingham have combined for 15 quality starts, but when they get hit, they get hit hard. Tim Mayza and David Phelps have controlled the back end of the bullpen, with Derek Law serving as the teams closer (6 saves, 2.21 ERA, 1.58 WHIP). Law has a pretty impressive strand rate, but his FIP indicates some serious regression is probably in order.

After a tough start, Randal Grichuk has turned into a doubles machine. He still struggles to take a walk, but his .285/.310/.418 line is a welcome sight for a young Jays squad.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Teoscar Hernandez both had incredibly horrific starts both at the plate and in the field, which resulted in both being optioned to AAA Buffalo.

April's rookie of the month, and baseball's favorite large adult son, Vlad Guerrero Jr. has impressed during his first full month of MLB. A .300/.390/.525 is nothing short of spectacular, and is giving hope that this rebuilding franchise can hang in there into the summer. (If I wasn't so swing happy, he'd walk 2-3 times a game. Nobody will pitch to him.)

The Jays currently sit in 4th in the AL East, 8.5 games back of the Yankees, but only 2 games back of the second wildcard.

Trade Block: Bucholz, Smoak, Teoscar, Richard, Phelps, Law.
Looking for: Cost controlled OF, cheap innings eater, a pulse...

Finally started my franchise for this year. Absolutely loving it so far.
I am currently leading the NL West with the Giants after 9 games with a record of 5-4.

Will Smith is of to a strong start with already 4 saves on 5 attempts. He is struggling though with an ERA over 8 so far. The blown save was a 3-run-homer from Machado on opening day.
The other outstanding player is Crawford so far with great defense and a hot start on offense with already 4 doubles and a HR.

Strasburg and Prior both pitched great! Andre Dawson put Washington up 1-0 early with a solo shot in the second and never gave the lead up.

                    IMG_0421.jpg

Chicago actually had more hits than the Nats, and multiple opportunities with risp, but couldn’t get them home. Dawson and Guerrero both had stolen bases that Gary Sanchez failed to throw out, and that’s supposed to be the main reason he was acquired earlier in the year in the trade for Rizzo! Washington would chip 2 more runs out of Prior before Jenkins relieved him in the sixth and allow no more!

                    IMG_0422.jpg

Barraclough would pitch the 8th for Washington and Doolittle would close out the ninth. The Cubs had 2 men on and no out with the tying run at the plate in the ninth but Doolittle would strike out Baez, Descalso and Sandburg in order to end game 1!

Dodgers drop game 1 of the 2019 NLCS to the Cubs by a score of 8-1. It was a long day at home for the Dodgers as Julio Urias gave up 5 runs in the first 2 innings, starting with a home run on the first pitch of the game to David Fletcher. The Dodgers finally made it onto the scoreboard with a solo home run by Max Muncy in the bottom of the 9th.

Kyle Hendricks earned the complete game win giving up 1 run on 8 hits and striking out 7.

This is a game the Dodgers faithful are hoping to forget.

                        2019 Texas Rangers Fantasy Franchise

Aug 31: Just had to share what happened our last game. In his 6th start since being traded to the Rangers, Ace Justin Verlander gave a deep run at making history vs the division rival Mariners. With the offense giving him a comfortable lead early thanks to a 7 run rally in the 2nd, Verlander locked in and just started running through batter after batter. By the 7th inning every fan in the house was on their feet cheering every pitch. He had not allowed a single base runner and his pitch count was well within his limit. 1-2-3 go the Mariners in the 7th, then the 8th. The 9th inning. If he can get through the bottom of the order he will become just the 24th man in MLB history to achieve a perfect game. Leading off the 9th is Willians Astudillo, La Tortuga. He takes a 1-1 Inside FB and rips a clean single through the hole between SS and 3B passed a valiant diving effort by Alberto Mondesi. Verlander manages to keep his composure, knowing he let one slip away, and retires the next rheee batters in order to complete the 1 hit CG shutout 8-0. Brutal. Verlander proved though that he is that Ace that can help bring us to the promised land.

I’ve only thrown one perfect game ever in the Show and it was I believe in MLB15 with Aaron Nola. I pitch on Legend Meter with all sliders at default except for CPU power set to 6(+1).

Breaking from immersion for a sec. I’m so anxious to get to my offseason, but am absolutely engrossed in watching the drama that is this universe’s postseason! I’m sure many think I’m crazy to be excited about watching a game play itself lol. But having played against most of these teams, and the connection of not only watching how they perform now, but knowing what they’re capable of, and trying to foresee how things will shake up after the season, (and they will shake up drastically I expect)! It’s just seemingly encompassing everything I enjoy about the game of baseball! Actively, historically and the dreams of what may come! I know total cheese, but felt like sharing that anyway! Haha! Thank you SDS for this wonderful game!

                              SPRING TRAINING - GAME 6

So the Reds traveled all the way to Scottsdale from Goodyear, about 32 miles, to take on the San Francisco Giants. The Reds were 4 - 1, while the Giants were 1 - 4. Ace vs Ace, Luis Castillo would get his second start, as Mad Bum would take the rubber for the Giants.

                              GAME 6 vs SFG

                              PITCHING-
Luis Castillo would pitch 3 innings allowing 1 HIT 1 BB, allowing no runs.
Tim Adleman a non-roster invitee would pitch 2 scoreless innings while striking out 4 batters.
The Reds scored 1 in the first and the score would remain 1 - 0 until the bottom of the eighth when the Giants tied it 1 - 1 againt Tyler Mahle.

                              BATTING -
The bats went cold after yesterday's 13 hits. The Reds only managed 6 hits through the first 10 innings. In the 11th Deitrich got a SINGLE, Schebler followed with a GROUND RULE DOUBLE. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the Giants intentionally WALKED Jay Bruce to get to Adam Dunn??? The Giants must have missed Dunn's walk off last night, but they got to see him hit another game winning BOMB! This one was a 407 ft. GRAND SLAM! Giving the Reds a 5 - 1 lead.

Robert Stephenson who came in the 10th to pitch, finished the 11th to get the WIN.

Who was saying Dunn was too old, been out of baseball too long? Now, if we could get Rose and Bench to lace up the ole cleats, we may have a contender here!

Oh, WAIT! The Life Long Ban! Always something or someone keeping the REDS down!

By the way, how do you get your screenshot to your posts? I know how to capture screenshots, but how do you transfer them...facebook or twitter used? Thank for any info? BTW...enjoy watching your post season games .
I’ve been kind of going the long way around through the ps app lol. I’m sure there’s an easier way though. Probably gonna try using a flash drive soon. Appreciate the reassurance I’m not crazy 😂
