Harrison Bader reaches 50 steals on the season

Harrison Bader stole his 50th base of the season yesterday afternoon in a 9-3 loss to the Nationals in Washington. Bader swiped second base off starter Tom Skinner and backstop Yan Gomes. Bader was chosen to be the everyday centerfielder in the offseason leading to the departure of Magnerius Sierra. Bader has not disappointed as he carries a .289 average with a .362 OBP to go along with his 50 steals. He is also an outstanding defensive centerfielders and quite arguably the best in the game right now. Bader signed a team friendly 4 year $10MM deal in the offseason buying out his controllable/arbitration years. This could be an absolute steal for the Cardinals as many project Bader to be a serious contender for an all-star roster spot next year and beyond.

Not a lot to say about this one other than the Giants looked completely outmatched from the first pitch on! The Dodgers has everything going! Great pitching, diving catches, long balls, small ball! SF got a little rally going in the eighth, but far too little too late! They need to figure something out fast or it appears LA will make short work in this series!

MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Dodgers drop game 2 of the NLCS 3-2 in 11 innings. Joc Pederson attempted a diving catch but misjudged the ball leading to a Victor Caratini RBI triple in the top of the 11th.

Dylan Floro earned the Dodgers loss going 2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 3.

The series moves to Chicago where the Dodgers hope to right this sinking ship on the road.

Meanwhile in the ALCS, the Angels have taken a 2-0 series lead over the Red Sox. The hopes of an LA area series is slipping fast.

Jays win 8 of 10 including a sweep of Texas to sit at 19-15.

Anybody else have a reasonably weak lineup with one star, where pitchers will essentially just nibble the strike zone on that star? If I was more patient, Vladdy would walk 2-3 times a game.

My lineup isn't weak, at least I don't think it is, but I do notice that teams will pitch around Patrick Wisdom who is mashing the ball this year, and will pitch around Juan Fabregas who hits behind him to face Albies and Carson Kelly.

I’m absolutely terrible at stealing bases. My team has 15 this year. No clue what I’m doing.

Absolutely! The cpu will definitely nibble more around good hitters.

                      I've got around a 65% success rate with a slow-ish team.

I press R2 to cue up the steal, and then hold R1 until the pitcher goes into his throwing motion.

What I do is press R2 to cue up the steal.

Then when I think the pitcher is going home, or he starts his motion, I'll press L1 to try to get that extra step/jump.

This is what I do as well. My single-best season with one guy is 124 (Now he was a pure speed guy I want to say 97 speed). He's got 105 in my current year with 15 games to go. His speed is now a 94. Concerning speed, I seem to be almost automatic with guys 85 or above. However, if they pitchout even my 94 speed guy will get gunned down.

After being swept in 4 at the Trop to end the first half, the Rays mostly returned the favor against the rival Yankees by taking 3 out of 4 in the Bronx. All 4 games were tight, with no game being decided by more then 2 runs. In the 2nd game of the series, Didi would return to the IL with a strained pectoral, expected to miss 1-2 weeks.

The highlight of the series? Game 3.
MadBum impressed in his Yankee debut, he allowed a 2 run HR early in the 2nd on a mistake hanging breaking pitch to SS Andrew Velazquez. He recovered by shutting down the Rays the rest of the way going the distance for a 2 run complete game. Gio Urshela, recalled to replace Didi, would play the hero with a key 3 run double in the 6th saving MadBum’s debut from being spoiled.
                            Yankees win 4-2.

                            Yankees Transactions During The Series:

Yankees Trade J.A. Happ To Phillies.
Finding a trade partner for Happ was a challenge, but Philly who are in a neck and neck battle with the Mets and Nats for the East were in need of a back of the rotation arm. As expected, the return was light. We got 2 pitchers, Tyler Viza, and Bailey Falter. Mostly to keep our minors filled out.

Yankees Add Group Of FA’s To Minors Deals.
After opening up financial flexibility with the Happ trade, we invested in some guys to serve as depth or as as possible reinforcements for later.
                            Players signed:
SP Bartolo Colon. Couldn’t let this legend rot in FA any longer.
LF Ben Revere. Lefty contact bat with elite speed.
RF Jose Bautista. It’s been a fast and far fall for the now 38 year old former Jays slugger. His days of being a feared middle of the order bat are certainly in the past, but he’ll receive a likely final opportunity. He does still have his elite plate discipline and does bring name recognition. Considering he’s not exactly well liked around the game, Especially not in Texas, maybe you could say the Evil Empire just got slightly more evil.
                            RP Ryan Madson.
The 38 year old is just one year removed from a 1.83 ERA season. After going unsigned this past offseason, he’s had extra time to rest up. If he does have anything left in the tank, the time is now. We have high hopes for him once he ramps up.

And the final move of the trade deadline for us:
Yankees Acquire Edwin Encarnacion. After it happened irl, I couldn’t resist. Tried to trade back a similarly talented prospect to Juan Then. Traded SP Garret Whitlock. The M’s also take on Matt Kemp. He’s an expiring contract, so they’ll just be paying what’s left of what he’s owed for this year. They still save much more money by moving the more expensive Edwin. In a way, the salary works somewhat like it did irl.

Next up is a 3 game set at home vs the West leading Rockies. We still hold a 14.5 game lead over the Rays.

                            Other Yankees News:
Jordan Montgomery due back in 1-2 weeks. Will join MLB bullpen.
Didi to return in 1-2 weeks.
Chris Shaw tears Achilles Tendon, out for season. Shaw was part of the Hicks deal and potential September callup option.

The 2020 Cardinals are about to take the field for the first time in the brand new season. Year 2 is upon us. The Tampa Bay Rays are the defending World Champions and the Phillies are the reigning NL Champs.

Some key upgrades that the 2020 Cardinals have made this offseason include: A 6 year 128 million dollar deal for free agent Gerrit Cole. Matt Koch, Jose Alvarado, and Chris Archer.

Also, the Cardinals fired Mike Shildt at the end of the regular season last year, and replaced him with Brett Nelson. Some key drops for the Cards include: Michael Wacha, Jack Flahrety, and John Gant.

I'm about to start the stream and embark on 2020. Hopefully, we can make it a championship season, these Cards are ready to compete for the division after being kept out of the playoffs a season ago.

Look forward to seeing you folks in there with me!

Dodgers get a win!!! A 2-1 win in Chicago brings the series to 2-1 Cubs. Colton Stern earned the win pitching 6 innings and giving up 1 run on 4 hits and 10 Ks.

Dodgers got on the board in the 1st with a Cody Bellinger sacrifice fly scoring Justin Turner. A 2 out solo home run in the 3rd by Justin Turner ended the Dodgers scoring for the day. A 5th inning home run by Wilson Contreras made the game interesting but neither team were able to do much over the rest of the game.

Kenley Jansen earned the Save while Patrick Corbin was credited with the loss.

Could this be the beginning of a comeback for LA??
