It was happening before the recent patches. Patches didn't introduce this.

I play people online who can bunt on any count with seemingly any player. It's crazy. I can't bunt at all.

Pretty much have stopped bunting all together because mine were never successful. Now I just let my pitcher swing and hope for the best

This. Also keeps me out of the double play which is turned on bunts a little too frequently imo.

Yup. I was going to say if it's going to be a double play, it will be on a full swing, not a bunt.

Question for those having this issue...are you using the r-stick to direct the bunt either to the left or right of the diamond?

I am, but it’s still hard. If you watch real games it is hard to do. I think the frustration lies with what happens AFTER the bunt...too many outs at 2nd, or double plays.

I've actually stopped trying to direct the bunt and try to bunt more towards the mound and its been successful the last 6 or so times I've done it.

Or if there is a right handed first baseman in the field, I'll try to bunt towards him because he has to turn his body to make the throw to second with takes extra time.

I always avoid bunting towards the 3rd baseman because he can "sell out" as he has nothing to cover.

Happens in MoM too. FC/DP bunts a huge majority of the time, even with bunters with rating in the 90s.

Fast play the AB and the bunts work well.

AI plays both sides. All the human does is make managerial decisions, so all you can do is call for a bunt. The bunting with the AI doing it is as bad as many people have said who are actually hitting, if not worse. As I said, the only way I can get a successful bunt is to fast play the AB.

The problem started last year, or the year they made it next to impossible to bunt because on-line players were complaining about people spamming bunts. SDS decided to make it harder so along came the rocket bunt. Bunting has been broken, or useless, ever since.

Like I said when I stopped trying to bunt to third base side, I haven’t had any issues

Bunting this year feels like a good balance between ‘16 (every bunt successful) and ‘17 where bunting was too difficult to be successful

After bunting into a double play with a guy whose bunting rating was in the 80s today I realized there is a work around.

Use quick manage. Bunts have a much higher success rate in quick manage.

It's a crummy solution but it works.

Andrew Knizner at the plate. Bunt rating 23. Ozzie Albies on first with a speed of 81. I don't want to bunt to third base side, because Mitch Walding can sell out since he has no other responsibility in this situation but to field the bunt. Cody Bellinger is playing first and is left handed, so bunting towards him is an option, but I'd rather bunt towards the 2nd baseman since Bellinger can come off the bag and field and not have to turn his body to make a throw towards second.

Once Jensen starts his windup, I press L1 to give Albies another step or two...

Bunting runners over, or bunting in general, isn't broken. It's just not automatic like it was in '16 and it's not "altered" to work due to rocket bunts like '18. You have to understand the situation at hand and have a plan as to what to do.
