Re: Bunting runners over broken?
Here's a game I played where I would bunt whenever I got a baserunner on 1st. 9 sacrifice bunts in total and the lead runner was thrown out in nearly half of the attempts.

And here's a video of me doing the same in Pro Yakyuu Spirits. The Show should adopt a similar style of bunting. It's far superior to what they have now.

Re: Bunting runners over broken?
The first attempt was with two outs, but it looked like they had a play at second. Disregarding that attempt, they successfully got an out at second 4 times out of 8. Judging by the velocity on your bunts, I'd say what you're experiencing is right in line with me. I saw only one of your bunts that looked decent to me.
Now, these are players with varying bunt ratings...but see my previous post. On HOF, doesn't look like ratings make much difference.
BUT...considering the following:
The MLB average for sacrifice success rate in 2019 was about 65%...BUT, they include strike outs where a bunt was attempted in the calculation of that statistic, so how to figure the rate of success...you go to baseball-reference and look at league splits. For hit trajectory, you see the following:
BUNTS:
1487 PA
335 H
687 SH
0 K
So here we see they are not counting strike outs while bunting, but taking only those plate appearances where a bunt was laid down in fair territory. Considering that those which resulted in hits were not sacrifice attempts (we assume, though some sac attempts probably wound up as hits, but the total is probably small), we can subtract those from the total, as well as the rest of the bunt hit attempts. The league-wide average of bunt hit attempts is about .400 at best, based on previous years.
This means that around 830 plate appearances were probably bunt hit attempts. Assuming that some sacrifice attempts can result in hits, let's drop that figure down to 700.
So subtracting out the bunt-for-hit attempts, we estimate 787 bunts-in-play that were sacrifice attempts. This is likely a conservative estimate.
So you have 687 out of 787, or a success rate of 87.6% once the bunt is laid down in fair territory.
I don't see anything NEAR this percentage in game, either for myself or the CPU. Again, I'm on HOF level.Last edited by JTommy67; 09-08-2019, 02:01 PM.Comment

Bunting runners over broken?
All I’ve done is share my experience which I’m allowed.
I’m not the only person who has stated they aren’t having issues with how bunting works
If you’re not mature enough to discuss varying experiences then maybe you should sit this one out.
Sent from my iPhone using Operation SportsI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
