Disappointed in losing a presentation theme, especially for SotS, but I really like the new score bug they created. It’s great looking and filled with information that should be a part of every broadcast. So I can understand the decision, to that extent.

Hoping we can use custom start levels for dynamic difficulty in all offline game modes, as well.

Really great that they reduced the transitions and cleaned up the wipes. Those were brutal and probably a good reason why a lot of players pounded X through replays in the past.

The L2 for replays is a good idea, in theory. Will have to spend some time with it to see how practical it is. Wish there was an option to use that or have it just load a replay like normal.

Wait, so replays no longer show automatically by themselves? And if I press L2 is it a broadcast replay or the replay/clip recording system?

Unclear from the stream. They mentioned it also being there as an option when not in Fast Play, but I'm not sure if they said all replays had to be manually triggered or not.

And if I press L2 is it a broadcast replay or the replay/clip recording system?

I agree 100%.

I am a broadcast mode player for a reason. So why not have the replay option on hybrid and fast presentation mode and leave us old geezers alone with the last bastion of true broadcast presentation.

Oh well I will adapt. I always do. But slightly annoying to say the least.

Attention spans for the younger generation are on life support apparently.

They did mention online play, fast play and hybrid, but I don't think Kirby St. John said anything about broadcast mode.

I must have missed that. If so....great!!

Edit: yep kirby said it will be in some other modes and said broadcast.

I think however if your in broadcast I think it will play like in the past if u dont hit anything, L2 or X. He did say something about being in broadcast mode u will get prompts about starting lineups, defensive alignment those type of things.

My guess by what kirby was saying if I understand it correctly is us broadcast guys you can just let it play out u don't half to hit L2 or X.

L2 - Keys you into a replay of what just happened.

X - Will allow you to skip thru anything.

* Don't OPT in and it should show everything like before, but could be quicker transitions or not touching anything I think if your in broadcast mode and MLB network theme you should be able to see everything like before.

Maybe the NEW scorebug is not full broadcast and OPTS you in to choosing to see certain stuff, but again maybe even in the new scorebug if u dont touch anything u get to see everything.

No. Not at all. If anything there is even more homerun camera in the game.

Love the new relay system...SCEA doing some great things! Would be awesome to have the old school broadcast packages that are in moments an option for MTO and franchise.

How does the new relay system work? I guess I missed that.

I'm not convinced it'll be there for the menu option dynamic difficulty - what they showed as far as choosing a difficulty starting point seemed to be in the MtO setup.

Not jumping to conclusions on that and getting disappointed if it's the same as last year in the actual gameplay options.

If it is just buried in this mode only that is a major fail. Ever since they came out with this I remember going back and forth with them about how unnecessary it was to reinvent the wheel with this and start from scratch every year.

I can speak from experience as someone who regularly plays with a group of teens, younger players love watching back sick highlights, slowing them down, etc. As did I, when I was a younger player. Not all of them are in a rush, any more than all older players are in a rush.


The decision making here is just clueless. Its not a generational preference thing, I hope we can kill that narrative. It's like when they talk about how younger players dont care about franchise mode, then they are on YouTube losing their mind when they play old sports games at the amount of depth. They "dont care" about it because they've never played a game where it was made a priority.

Edit - I found a video which shows the new theme. I like it. It's essentially theme 1 with more colorful graphics and in the lower right instead of the upper left.

Where in tbe stream did they say they cut the 2 themes from previous years ? From how I understood it there was a new one added onto the already existing themes so wouldnt that make it 4 in total now ? Unless i completely missed the part where they said they cut the themes but if so please tell me at what point in time of the stream did they say this ? Because that would be a big disappointment

I an speak from experience as I coach high school baseball.

95% of the the players I have been coaching.....play DD not franchise mode. Most young teens who play sports games are not interested in franchise mode. And I was also making a general statement as today attention spans are no doubt far shorter than when I was growing up.

And you know.....a big reason for that is the sheer amount of choices people have today in terms of what to do.

When I was growing up.....3 channels on TV. One MLB game of the week. It was simply a totally different time.

MNF is when we got game highlights from Sunday.

Just totally different.

Anyway. My son....raising him as old school as I can. And he is into a lot of things most kids his age aren’t. But he is also in the You-Tube/tick tock generation. Devices have taken over for TV’s and even console video gaming. Kids are addicted to their phones.

Anyway getting off topic here and I do not want to derail the thread. But whomever your hanging with teen wise.....it is a minority. Trust me.

The narrative is real.
