I tried playing with the current roster and just couldn't get into it. I missed the roster I built and the virtual franchise that I was in.

So I am currently going through the offseason and will start Spring Training for my 9th year (2025) this evening.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I’m on regular PS4 and I have seen no frame rate issues whatsoever. Game is extremely smooth.

Is hitting to easy? Maybe it's the pitch speed which seems slower? Not sure but after 8 DD games I"m hitting like .380+ and my era is 6.00+...and I don't have a roster full of diamond players, matter of fact I have none. The 2 losses I have came came because I gave up 7+ runs in one inning...felt like I couldn't buy an out. I've also noticed a lot of hits coming from balls hit outside the strike zone, last year that wasn't the case. It was pretty rare that you got a hit on a pitch outside the zone. Now it doesn't seem to make a difference.

You must be an MLB The Show “alien” because I wouldn’t even dare to dream of having a batting average even approaching 100 points less than that. If I could hit .286 I’d feel really accomplished. that’s how difficult the hitting is for me right now in DD

          Tips please

Seeing this as well. In 5 play vs cpu games (trying to innings grind) half my lineup has 4-5 hrs already. The pitch speed seems slower on the same difficulty than it does in play now offline.

I envy you Countryboy. I wish I could stick with my franchise. Regardless the roster issues this year I’m going to give it my best shot. I never get too attached to prospects yet continually restarted in years past.

I don't know that you're really missing out on anything much, maybe new managers and the possibility of not having the stats of a hitter's career numbers vs that of a pitcher.

For me, I lose so much more by starting over than continuing. I have my own rosters that I've added real minor leaguers, international players, future draftees, as well as sprinkled in some sons of some of the greats. Plus I've built this roster in my vision over the 8 years and I really have become attached to the players and the franchise universe as a whole.

I think trades are a little better. I would like to see bigger contracts traded. It just doesn't happen.

As far as financials I'm hoping they adjust it. Closers are getting 5 mil a year in free agency. Starting pitchers 6-9 million. The top guys are getting paid the rest are not.

Would be nice if they could tune contracts a little. Takes the immersion away when in the offseason they get to free agency and make significantly less money than they made in arbitration.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

So my impression after playing about 15 games.

The graphics are great. I play on the standard PS4 and it does look crisper than last year. The sound of the bat is pitch perfect. I do believe hitting is a lot easier this year. I usually go between All Star and HOF where All Star is too easy and HOF is too hard. Yet, this year I am using Legend which is giving me a challenge because HOF I am hitting more home runs than I should.

Fielding. Fielding is okay. the players are very responsive so be careful how quickly you move them as they build up momentum and will over run the ball if you are not careful.

Throwing is the area I have had the most problems. I have read a lot of posts where people love the fielding and throwing. My experience with the throwing has been very painful.

I tried the button accuracy with the meter. I am not very good with it and it does not feel natural to me. I like pure analog. I use pure analog every year. Yet this year, when I use pure analog for throwing with the meter turned off, my players still make 4 -5 throwing errors per game. A ground ball to short stop (Trea Turner) with a fast runner going to first, every time the throw is off line. Every time. One game I made 6 throwing errors to first. This is with the meter turned off so it shouldn't matter how quick or how long you push the right stick. It should be based on the player's attribute not user input. I played three games in a row just using pure analog with no meter and the first two games there were 4 throwing errors from shortstop and 3 from third base that were basic grounders. The players at these positions are above average so the errors shouldn't have occurred as often as I saw them.
The last game there were 7 throwing errors combined. 4 of them basic grounders.

I don't know what I am missing. I don't know if it is a bug. With the meter turned off, set to pure analog, the throwing should only be based on the players attribute I believe. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have been very impressed with the CPU roster building in the offseason.

Making needed trades, not overpaying back end bets, and carrying a balanced roster.

                            Very happy this far

We had this trouble on launch last year, and something got fixed as I recall...

Have you looked to see if there is a setting within the Pure Analog throw for meter "Hidden" or something like that where it is not "off" you just can't see it. That makes the throw dependent on the attributes, as well as the user input I believe.

I am about to head home and play my first test games, but I am starting with my sliders set exactly as they were last year. I'll be better able to see if there are differences or problems, as I had my slider set locked in perfectly (for me) in the 2019 version.

I'll report back with Pure Analog throwing findings after three games.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

My initial impressions after playing for a few days:

                                PROS
+ Being able to use dynamic difficulty and start at whichever level I choose.
+ Hit types seem to be fantastic. I’ve seen balls that drop in over the infielders, bloopers, seeing-eyed singles, shots down the line and in the gaps. Like real baseball!
+ Catchers blocking balls in the dirt and getting to them quickly.
+ Baserunners seem to be more aggressive when appropriate and less aggressive when appropriate.
+ Graphics are nice and clean. No frame rate issues for me, or at least none that bother me during gameplay.

                                CONS
                                - For the love of all that is holy, PLEASE remove the relief pitcher dropping his glove animation. Was funny the first time but by now it happens 75% of the time and is really annoying.
                                - I can’t seem to get a starting pitcher to throw more than 70-80 pitches without getting tired. I use Classic pitching and am not holding the button (trying to just tap it). This was happening to me last year as well, so perhaps it is something I’m doing wrong (if anyone knows what I could be doing, please let me know!)
                                - The issue with scheduling a pitcher to come in and he comes in with a lower energy level is still there. It happens most times but not others and I cannot figure out the pattern.
                                - I’m not seeing many errors and some plays that should be errors not called errors.

Overall I really love the game. I feel like it is a solid baseball game that has gotten better every year. I also feel like it has maxed out at this point on the PS4 and I’m ready to see/play it on the PS5 next year.
