I am very excited about your view on Baserunning Aggressiveness this year...I’ve been busy in play now with my cap teams that I had adjusted BR Agg because of the issue in 19.
But I’m going to use and test some games with stock attributes ...I’ll be glad to alter my Cap players attributes back to where they were.
20 is really kick’n it this year..having fun.
Be looking for your sliders ..

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

      Couple of things:

      * I know others have mentioned it, but the bat sounds are absolutely outstanding this year! The subtle difference between solid contact and weak contact is great.

      * Pitching feels even better this year. I feel that the fastball is once again a viable pitch when used correctly and I'm finding myself being able to throw good fastballs by hitters even in the strike zone. Also, because the fastball is effective, you can sit hitters up very well in this game. I'm seeing a lot of swing and misses, chasing pitches, and hitters being off balance.

      * Hit variety seems even better this year, which I didn't think would happen.

      * Defense is again rewarding to play. The difference between elite, good, average, and poor defenders really stands out again, especially in the outfield. The new tag animations are sweet! Nabbed a base stealer thanks to a solid throw, but a quick tag as it was going to be a bang-bang play, but the tag got us the out.

      * The in game stat popups and information are such a very welcomed addition for me as a franchise nut. Seeing things like how a player was acquired, his recent trends, his stats last game, etc....just engross you into your franchise universe.

      * The game looks absolutely gorgeous and plays so smooth. It is just such a joy to play through a game.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Every umpire strike zone I feel is tiny. I’m always getting squeezed on paint pitches.

Ambient Sound is amazing, I have a 7.1 dolby atmos system and they have finally gotten it sound directional like the 3D audio. Chants come from sections you can hear the yells when you're at bat coming from behind, the side or in front of you. You can hear the ump when you're at bat, his calls come from behind and when you're pitching from the center channel.

The Pace of the commentary this year is what is most noticeable too me, guys are no longer long winded, they are short to the point and the move on. Matty V is contextual and strike the correct tone for the situation for the most part.

The graphics are also a wow, didn't think they could do better, and they have improved the hair textures and style, colors pop even more and they have improved damn near every stadium.

I feel like the home run camera isn't as bad this year! The times that I've seen it, I could still see the flight of the ball. Did they pull it back just a bit? Bc it just overall looks better this year.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Impressions Thread

After a trying week and stressing about getting home from a work trip (I made it back Friday night) it has been nice to distract myself with this game.

I played 18 and 19 for a full year each. I can say that in my limited time with 20, I'm enjoying this version more than the previous two. The hit variety, fielding improvements, sharper visuals and many other subtle tweaks/changes/improvements make this a fitting game to close the PS4 era out on.

I'm headed back to the diamond now. Enjoy, everyone!

I was playing against the Padres and Dozier hit a looping single to center and I came in and fielded it with Haseley and tossed it to the cut off and Dozier nabbed second base on me. I didn't take that much time but that would never happen last year so base running is vastly improved. You really need to be on your toes this year.

The graphics are great. I play on the standard PS4 and it does look crisper than last year. The sound of the bat is pitch perfect. I do believe hitting is a lot easier this year. I usually go between All Star and HOF where All Star is too easy and HOF is too hard. Yet, this year I am using Legend which is giving me a challenge because HOF I am hitting more home runs than I should.

Fielding. Fielding is okay. the players are very responsive so be careful how quickly you move them as they build up momentum and will over run the ball if you are not careful.

Throwing is the area I have had the most problems. I have read a lot of posts where people love the fielding and throwing. My experience with the throwing has been very painful.

I tried the button accuracy with the meter. I am not very good with it and it does not feel natural to me. I like pure analog. I use pure analog every year. Yet this year, when I use pure analog for throwing with the meter turned off, my players still make 4 -5 throwing errors per game. A ground ball to short stop (Trea Turner) with a fast runner going to first, every time the throw is off line. Every time. One game I made 6 throwing errors to first. This is with the meter turned off so it shouldn't matter how quick or how long you push the right stick. It should be based on the player's attribute not user input. I played three games in a row just using pure analog with no meter and the first two games there were 4 throwing errors from shortstop and 3 from third base that were basic grounders. The players at these positions are above average so the errors shouldn't have occurred as often as I saw them.

The last game there were 7 throwing errors combined. 4 of them basic grounders.

I don't know what I am missing. I don't know if it is a bug. With the meter turned off, set to pure analog, the throwing should only be based on the players attribute I believe. Has anyone else experienced this?

Okay, I have played three test games, and I play Analog Throwing with feedback Off.
I turned on the feedback, just to see how I was doing with throws, and have made one throwing error in three games. That error was deserved, as I didn’t take my time and remember to throw closer to the 3:30-4:00 direction, and pulled Mitch off the bag.
I am also playing with my 2019 TrueSim Slider Set, which plays AMAZINGLY this year.
I am having no troubles with throwing so far, and the game is really enjoyable. I have not won yet, And have got no homeruns, so I am struggling with my pitching staff.
Will report in with more after 10th test game.

I'll say, Jorge Soler has punished me in my first series of my franchise. Dude has hit four bombs. In the last game of the series I pitched him away with good success in his first 3 at bats. So figured I do it again. I couldn't have thrown a more perfect 2 seamer on the first pitch on the low outside corner. Well he was ready this time and hammered it out to right field for a 2 run homer. I love how they adjust to how you're pitching them.

Side note: I wasn't sure how I was going to like the Rangers powder blues but I'm digging them!!

I saw this in somebody's stream and immediately went to go purchase the MVP edition to play. Lots of issues still remain in Franchise as tabarnes has a post about but I'm hoping patches/workarounds can help with those. The presentation addition to franchise was enough for me.

I've played MLB The Show religiously since the early PS2 days. These sports games become more and more difficult to grade each year. Many of the massive improvements were already upgraded over the years. With that said, realism is an extremely high bar that developers have been aiming to achieve for decades.

Maybe it's due to the lack of baseball on the horizon because of the coronavirus, but I am absolutely loving the gameplay in this game. The look, the feel, the sounds, they are all top notch.

I'm playing Franchise mode as the Washington Nationals in a bid to repeat. The details never disappoint in this series. For example, Soto's batter box antics are a welcome addition. Lesser details, like the extended safety netting, and the countless "little things" we are all familiar with seeing are great to see again.

The game isn't revolutionary, but no sports games are these days. I only ask the game make sure they get the gameplay right. MLB The Show 20 does this and then some. The rest is all just a bonus. Anything to scratch the MLB itch while self-quarantined.

The Show 20 is worth the hype and I’m enjoying creating players ect

I’ve noticed a couple things and I hope it’s something I’m doing wrong.

1st- In franchise mode I haven’t seen the cut to the lineup, where you see a player holding a bat and there is some commentary. It was in Franchise in 19 and it is in 20 also but only in “Play Now” mode.(?)

2nd - The “Play Now” mode seems much smother and animations don’t seem hurried or jerky.
Maybe it’s me but in Franchise the animations don’t play out and the game seems far too quick.

I’ve only played a couple of games in Franchise so I’m hoping I’ll see different outcomes.

Without reading back through 20 pages, is the general consensus that there's a little too much power at the plate this year? I'm personally seeing a bit too much in regards to home runs. I'd expect an update that tunes power, even if it's not listed on the update outline, maybe under the hood as, "various game tweaks." This is pretty normal for SDS and their updates. Each year there's a few updates that include some minor changes and tweaks to gameplay.
