Did Dodgers make a roster move involving pitchers?

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The original starter probably got injured and they used Buehler as a spot starter instead of calling up a minor leaguer

This happened to me recently except Verlander pitched in back to back days.

Help me pick a team for franchise?

Looking to start a new chise, can't really pin down a team though, hoping you kind folks would help me out!

I'd like the team to be a contender/fringe contender. Not really looking to do a full rebuild (tigers fan so I've been through that enough already lol). Also don't want a really stacked team, because I like to tinker and trade probably so please no dodgers/yankees.

Teams to exclude (mostly because I've played with them a lot already)

            -Tigers
            -Brewers
            -Rockies
            -Braves
            -Pirates

I did this last year, and it turned out real fun so thanks in advance!

Boston Red Sox- The Mookie trade left them balancing 2 timelines, you can choose to maintain that, shop the vets, or make a push. The bullpen/rotation has holes, but the system has enough to patch. In terms of fun storylines, Verdugo is one step from being a star, Benintendi needs to put it together, and Sale needs a bounce back season
Tampa Bay- Best farm system in baseball to work from. Manage their salary as a small market GM. Potential for relocation. Packed with youthful talent, but likely 1-2 (cost controlled) stars from a World Series
Chicago White Sox- Power packed lineup (Abreu, Eloy, Grandal, Encarnacion). Youthful pitching staff with several players needing to make the jump. 3 Potential ROTY candidates in Robert, Kopech, and Madrigal. Farm system is a little light on trade pieces, but drafting well and finding bargain deals can manage that.

                TRUE TO THE BLUE

                2020 Seattle Mariners (19-30)

Around the League Tuesday, May 12th, 2020
Another inter-division trade occurred today, this time between the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals of the NL East. The Phils swapped 33-year old utility-man Logan Forsythe for 36-year old pitcher Anibal Sanchez. Forsythe is batting .275/.414/.375 in AAA this year and Sanchez was 1-5 in 8 starts and 35.0 IP with a 6.69 ERA and 1.71 WHIP for the Nats. Sanchez will likely be put in Philadelphia’s bullpen and the move opened up a rotation spot in Washington, presumably for the 26-year old Erick Fedde, who is 2-3 in 7 starts and 45.0 IP with a 2.60 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and 45 K’s in AAA.

Mariners Win Six in a Row Tuesday, May 19th, 2020
Since their win over the Astros on the 10th, the Mariners went on to sweep the A’s in three games at home and win the first two of three in the following home series against the Tigers. This six game winning streak was the Mariners longest of the season. Following the series against Detroit, the M’s are 8-8 in the month of May thanks to this stretch of quality performances from the pitching staff:
                • Justus Sheffield vs. OAK (Tues., May 12th): W, 7.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K’s
                • Andrew Cashner vs. OAK (Wed., May 13th): W, 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K’s
                • Marco Gonzales vs. OAK (Thurs., May 14th): W, 6.0 IP, 10 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
                • Yusei Kikuchi vs. DET (Fri., May 15th): W, 6.1 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K’s
                • Taijuan Walker vs. DET (Sat., May 16th): W, 6.1 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 6 K’s

The winning streak would end at six; however, after Yoshihisa Hirano allowed three runs in the top of the 8th in the final game against Detroit and earned a loss. Justus Sheffield continued his solid campaign in this game with 6.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, and 7 K’s. Through his first ten starts of 2020, the 23-year old lefty is 3-3 in 57.0 IP with a 3.47 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 38 K’s. The M’s will now travel to Washington for a two game series, followed by road series against the Yankees and the Tigers before wrapping up May at home versus the Braves. They expect to see rookie Evan White (fractured shin) return to the lineup for the series in New York and are making their final preparations for the 2020 Amateur Draft which is just two weeks away.

                  Jay’s Cubs Wrap Up: 2022

Cubs Look to Spoil Tampa Bay’s Playoff Chances

After a day off and splitting a quick two game series against the Cardinals, the Cubs headed to Tampa Bay for a 3 game series. The Red Sox’s currently have a 11 game lead against the Rays and the wildcard appears to be a 3 team race as the Yanks, Rays and Indians are within 2 games of each other. Tampa Bay got on the board first with a solo home run by Brandon Lowe in the bottom of the first. AJ Puk was able to settle down and gave up only 2 more hits in 7 innings of work. Oscar Colás got the Cubs back in it with a solo shot in the 5. In the 7th Nico Hoerner was able to get 2 in on a double as he had a solid day going 2 for 4. Justin Turner added a RBI in the 8th to make it 4-1 as the Cubs took the game up.

In Game 2 Yu Darvish went against Brandon Snell and the game was back and forth as both pitchers went well into the game.Darvish put in a good day of work as he pitched 8 innings and only gave up 2 runs as the cubs took a 2-2 lead into the 9th. Anthony Rizzo was able to put Chicago ahead with a double that scored Kris Bryant. Kimbrel came in to get the save but gave up a solo shot to Brandon Nimmo to tie the game as it headed into extra innings. The Rays and Cubs played 3 innings of free baseball before Tampa Bay was able to get the walk off hit by Willy Adames to seal the win.

In Game 3 the North Siders were able to get back on track with Oscar Colás going 7 innings and striking out 3 while giving up no runs on 4 hits. A pair of solo shots by Kris Bryant and Kyle Scwarber were the only runs of the game as Andrew Miller pitched a scoreless 8th, striking out the side and Kimbrel was able to redeem himself by clinching the save. Kimbrel nearly gave the game away again as allowed 2 hits before striking out Bo Naylor to end the game. The save Craig Kimbrel moved into a tie with Lee Smith for saves with his 478th.

Cubs face off against Mets in 3 game Series

After a day off the Cubs returned to Wrigley to face off against the Mets. New York had been in contention for the NL East. A drought in August left them looking to next year as they find themselves in the bottom of the standings. Justin Verlander took the mound and pitched a gem going 7 and ⅓ innings while striking out 10. The Cubs took advantage of the wind blowing out at the Friendly Confines as they amassed 17 runs including 5 home runs with Willson Contreras & Miguel Amaya going yard as well as Kris Bryant having a 3 home run game.]

In the final game of the series Jacob DeGrom faced off against Kyle Hendricks. Both pitchers stifled hitters as they went 6 and 7 innings respectively as the game was tied 1-1 as the bullpens went to work. In the 9th Javier Baez was able to get things started with a triple and Kyle Schwarber came through with the walk off single to cap off the series.

Down on the farm, the Smokies were able to end a productive season winning the AA championship. After the call ups of Kell and Marquez, infieled Manuel Herrerra led the way; over the half the bench set to be free agents at the end of the year, the youngster will have a chance to make the show if he can put together an impressive spring.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

The first half has come to an end as the Yankees closed it out by dropping 2 of 3 to the Blue Jays, splitting a 2 game set with the Mets and taking 2 of 3 from the visiting Rangers. Gary Sanchez returned for the 3 games vs Texas.

Now we head into the ASB with a 62-33 record, first place over the Blue Jays by 5 games.

The All Star Game is set. Blue Jays Hyun Jin Ryu Vs Dodgers Ace Clayton Kershaw at home in LA. Surprisingly we’ll only be sending 2 player’s to this year’s event, Gleyber Torres as the starting SS and Gerrit Cole as the third SP.

                    News:
                    Blue Jays Paddack Blockbuster
The Jays are looking to make a playoff run as they completed a huge deal right before the break to acquire Padres SP Chris Paddack in exchange for top prospects SP Simeon Woods Richardson and SS Jordan Groshans. The 24 year old Paddack joins an already great pitching staff in Toronto and will slot in behind Ryu. The 58-39 Jays have a 6.5 game cushion over the Red Sox for the 2nd WC spot but have work to do to overtake the 64-33 Indians, and the AL East is also still within their reach.

Cubs Lose Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber To Injury
With Contreras already done for the year the Cubs will also be without star SS Baez and Schwarber until the late August or early September time frame. At 58-38, the Cubs will have to battle to stay atop the Central with the Brew Crew just 0.5 games behind and the Cards only 4.5 games behind.

                    Nats Vs Braves
The 60-37 defending champs are beginning to create some separation in the NL East opening a 5 game lead in the standings over the 55-42 Braves.

Mike Trout All Star Game Snub?
In a big surprise Mike Trout will not start in this year’s All Star Game. Trout is having a more human season compared to his standards but this is still a shock. Indians CF Oscar Mercado wins the voting over Trout by only 4K votes even though Trout’s numbers overall are just slightly better but he does have 29 more AB’s then Mercado. Trout probably deserves it more, but the fans have spoken....I guess.

I decided to rule out white sox, played too much in the al Central already, and I don't love their park.

Now I'm deciding between the Rays, and Red Sox. Xander bogaerts is my favorite player, and I love Fenway so I'm leaning towards them. Boy do I wish they had mookie still though.

April was a good month for the Cubs as they went 17-13 in the month. Nobody stood out for the team, but it was a balanced month all-around and somewhat of a relief for the fans who were worried of a decline in this years team. Last year the Cubs went 24-7, and ended up missing the playoffs. So the fans are a bit hesitant to believe in this team yet.

Sano had 11hr’s in April, and Soto added 9HR of his own.
They have led the Cubs offense so far, and the pitching staff has held there own so far. It will be interesting to find out how the Cubs move forward from here.

The Cubs are 17-13 and find themselves 1.5GB of the Brewers, who could very well be the best team in the MLB.

May was a month that kept the Cubs afloat, but the Brewers have surged ahead and continued to dominate the MLB. The Cubs are 32-27 at the end of May, and finished 15-14 overall. The Brewers are 41-18 and already have a 9 game lead on the 2nd place Cubs.

It is a tough situation early for the division to already have that type of separation, and it may take a momentous effort to overcome the Brewers.

Overall, the Cubs continue to play very balanced. Nobody is sticking out and putting the team on their back. There is not a single starting position player hitting even .270, but there is also not a single one hitting under .245. So it has been very balanced to this point.

Serrano and Urias have struggled in the rotation, both hovering around a
5ERA through 13 starts, while DeGrom also has over a 4ERA in his first season with the Cubs. While Brailyn Marquez and Berrios both have sub 3ERA’s and are carrying the rotation.

Cubs are 32-27 and 9GB of the Brewers.

probably going to start over now. Going to experiment with the NL DH. Which will help some of my roster problems.

I wish you could toggle the DH on/off in between seasons.

I would turn it on after my current season if that was the case.

Cardinals place Juan Fabregas on 10 Day IL

Cardinals have placed OF Juan Fabregas on the 10 Day IL due to a knee sprain. Fabregas hurt himself running out a single in last nights game against the Padres.

Fabregas is hitting .327 with 7 homeruns and 23 RBI's thus far this year.

Connor Capel was recalled from Memphis to fulfill the vacant roster spot.

Cardinals still deciding what to do with Jordan Hicks

The Cardinals front office is continuing to debate what to do with a struggling Jordan Hicks. Hicks owns an ERA of over 22 thru April and has only completed 5 1/3 innings in 7 games. Hicks has the tools to be a dominant back end bullpen stopper, but his struggles late last year and early this year have given the front office something to think about.

There would be no shortage of trade partners for Hicks despite his recent struggles. He's young and talented. The Cardinals can't send him to Memphis due to him being out of options.

What the Cardinals do remains to be seen but for the time being they are giving Hicks every opportunity to work out of this funk he's currently in and back to the bullpen stopper they need him to be.
