Cardinals take series against Brewers in Milwaukee

The Cardinals (30-26) took 2 out of 3 games from the Brewers in Milwaukee to get to within 3 games of the central division leaders.

The Cardinals could've had the sweep but the bullpen once again reared its ugly head and blew the series opening game by allowing 9 runs combined in the 7th and 8th innings to the Brewers. The Cardinals started the 7th inning up 5-2 and ended the inning down 9-5. After the 8th they were down 11-5 which was the final score.

Game 2 saw a turn of fortune as the Cardinals were down 1-0 heading into their final at-bats when they put up 6 runs in the 9th on 4 hits including a grand slam by Juan Fabregas which was followed by a solo shot by Jo Adell as the Cardinals shocked Josh Hader and the Brewers.

Game 3 saw Kyle Funkhouser absolutely dominate the Brewers after allowing a lead off homerun to Byron Buxton. After Buxton's homerun, Funkhouser would retire 17 straight including 13 by strikeout. The bullpen was able to preserve this win and Greg Holland notched his 2nd save is as many tries with the Cardinals by striking out the side in the 9th on just 11 pitches.

The Cardinals will now travel to the friendly confines of Wrigley Field for a 3 game weekend series with the Cubs.

Cardinals post 16-11 record for the month of May

The Cardinals turned things around in May finishing the month 5 games over .500 and posting a 16-11 record to move their overall record to 29-26 just 4 games behind the Brewers in the Central. The Cardinals trail in the wildcard by just a game and a half.

It wasn't a perfect month by any stretch but since the acquisition of Greg Holland, the bullpen and the Cardinals have been much more consistent, although the bullpen still hits troubled waters at times.

Still the Cardinals had a positive month as they prepare to enter the dog days of summer and get into the depths of the baseball season.

With 7 weeks until the All-Star Break and 9 weeks until the deadline, the Cardinals are well within the Central division race. Hopefully the positive baseball trend continues and the Cardinals can be atop the Central Division when June comes to a close in 30 days.

Cardinals place Carson Kelly on optional assignment waivers

The Cardinals will begin the month of June with a new battery mate for Devon Snow. The Cardinals placed Carson Kelly on optional assignment waivers following their win over the Brewers on Thursday.

The 30 year old Kelly beat out Andrew Knizner for the backup role to Devon Snow out of Spring Training, has struggled both at the plate and keeping the opponent running game in check. If he clears waivers, Kelly will be sent to Memphis to serve as the backup and mentor for Zach Jackson.

Andrew Knizner has been recalled to be the 2nd catcher on the active roster. Knizner hit .324 with 5 homeruns and 25 RBI's in Memphis this year.

Cardinals and White Sox agree to trade

The Cardinals and White Sox have agreed to a deal that will send RHP Mike Mayers to the White Sox in exchange for RHP Tyler Johnson.

The 32 year old Mike Mayers was once thought to be a staple in the Cardinals bullpen for years to come but he struggled in 2023 and again last year in 2024, thus prompting the Cardinals to let him hit the open market. When Mayers was unsigned late in the winter, the Cardinals took a chance on the 32 year old, signing him to a one year deal and inviting him to Spring Training. He struggled in the Spring and was assigned to Memphis where he struggled all year and was sent to Springfield to see if he couldn't get things turned around, which he couldn't. Mayers posted a 0-4 record with a 7.89 ERA at Memphis and a 0-2 record with a 8.45 ERA at Springfield.

Still the White Sox are hoping that they can help the 32 year old find his old form and get a steal of a trade with Mayers.

The Cardinals will receive 27 year old Tyler Johnson in exchange. Johnson has served as the closer in the White Sox Double A organization where he has pitched to a 2.19 ERA with 5 saves in 6 chances.

Johnson will be assigned to Springfield where he will likely serve as the closer there, replacing DeAndre Massey who will likely be optioned to Palm Beach (Single A)

Any tips on how y’all handle your minor leaguers and their development? Certain overall you rating goal before moving to the majors?

I’ve never been good at “growing my own talent” and usually just use them as trade pieces.

I don't pay attention to overall ratings, as I go solely by stats.

I quick manage all my minor league games so I have a hands on and see how players develop, how they perform, and to ensure that guys are being used as I intended when I signed them.

If they are performing well in the minors and I think they can keep the level of production up at the major league level, then I'll bring them up if there is a need.

Same, if a guy performs well he graduates to the next level regardless of his overall. My roster depth guys (C and D potentials) can be moved up and down to fill roster holes as needed when injuries occur for example. A & B prospects I’ll control a bit more (IE, they only get promoted when they’re ready, not just to fill a roster hole)

What a wild series. The first two games had very low scoring, with the Twins winning Game 1 and Boston winning Game 2. Hits were hard to come by for the Red Sox during Game 1, as Odorizzi had a 2 hit bid in his 7 innings of work. Boston did score first at the top of the 3rd, but a run for the Twins in each of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Garver went 3-4 and 1 RBI. Taylor Rogers ended up with his 5th save. Game 2 had the opposite turnout. Maeda did pitch extremely well for 8 innings but it was Tyler Duffey that gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, securing the shutout for Boston. Let’s note that there was only 1 HR over these 2 games. Game 3 was a different story. 9 HRs were launched in this back and forth rubber match. 3 of them came from Nelson Cruz, who now has 10 HRs on the season. Rich Hill had his worst outing of the season, going 5 innings and allowing 4 runs on 8 hits. Boston had 3 players with 3 hits or more; Kevin Pillar was on point with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. There were 5 lead changes in the game; all of them came before the 6th inning. By the end of the 7th, it was Garver’s 3 run shot that put the Twins ahead 12-8, paving away for a Twins win. Boston ended up putting 2 more runs on the board but it wasn’t enough. This game was the highest combined scoring game of our season as well as the most hits combined. In total, there was 22 runs and 34 hits between the teams and surprisingly no errors.

            ALC Standings:

            Twins, 19-10 (-)
            Indians, 19-12 (1.0)
            White Sox, 17-12 (2.0)
            Royals, 14-14 (4.5)
            Tigers, 6-22 (12.5)

            Who’s Hot?:

We have a total of 6 position players currently on a hot streak. Nelson Cruz is of course pacing the team in many hitting categories; he’s on pace to hit 60 HRs. One player who is excelling all expectations is Byron Buxton. He is 3rd on the team in batting average, sitting at .323. Here’s hoping he can get his 2nd Gold Glove this season. We have 4 pitchers on the hot streak, with Odorizzi, Maeda, and Hill each with 4 wins. Maeda also leads the team in strikeouts with 43.

            Who’s Not?:

Only 2 players are on the cold seat, Miguel Sanó and Marwin Gonzalez. They are hitting .228 and .207, respectively. Sanó is 2nd in HRs though with 7. Gonzalez, primarily a platoon player, has played in 16 games and has the 2nd worst average with RISP which is at .182. He could lose playing time to Ehire Adriánza, who has a .571 RISP while only playing 5 games.

April isn’t done, folks! Just two games left and we face an even tougher team in the LA Dodgers (21-7). Since it’s a 2 game series, I was thinking of streaming it tomorrow at 4 pm CDT. My twitch link is http://www.twitch.tv/Relichris. So hopefully you guys will join me and encourage me with any tips, tricks, or critiques.

Thank you guys for liking the posts I make on here. I don’t often play the game much due to the stress I’ve been under (trying to find a job so I can stay where I live and survive, lol), but I’m gonna try to play 2 games a day so I can move steadily on the season.

Edit: Unfortunately I guess I’m unable to stream or something because it keeps kicking me out of the servers? Idk. Really dumb but it’s whatever. I’ll give a proper update on the games later tonight then.

Cubs Lose 6-2: Urias got hit for 3 runs in the 1st inning, and Buehler was cruising. Both pitchers were taken out early, Urias in the 3rd after allowing the 3 runs and Buehler after 4, despite pitching well his pitch count was high. The Cubs got on the board in the 3rd and 5th with RBI’s from Rizzo in both frames, but it was not enough as the Dodgers tacked on insurance runs in the 6th and 8th inning to win the game 6-2

              Game 2: Kyle Hendricks (15-11, 3.45ERA) Vs Clayton Kershaw (12-11, 2.91 ERA)

Cubs Win 5-4: Epic game between these two teams as Kershaw gave up a 3RHR in the 1st inning to Javy Baez. The Dodgers struck back and answered with 2 in the 3rd inning thanks to a Willson Contreras HR, but the Cubs tacked on 2 runs of their own in the 3rd with a 2-run double off the bat of late season pickup Kevin Pullar. Hendricks went 6IP and gave up 4ER, but got enough run support for the bullpen to hold the score at 5-4 the rest of the way.

              Game 3: Dinelson Limet (8-11, 3.09ERA) Vs Luke Weaver (5-5, 1.72 ERA)

Cubs Win 5-4: Extra innings thriller in this one as yet again 1st inning runs came for both teams, 2 for the Cubs and 1 for the Dodgers. Limet settled down and went 5IP and 3ER while Luke Weaver was chased out of the game after 4IP giving up 8 hits and 3ER. The score was tied at 4-4 from the 6th inning onward and would push the game into extras, Where Rookie Greg Scruggs delivered an RBI double which gave the Cubs the lead and allowed Kimbrel to close his 2nd game of the series, another stellar performance by the Cubs pen as they went 6IP and only allowing 1 run.

              Game 4 : Yu Darvish (18-8, 3.12ERA) Vs Dustin May (11-7, 3.59 ERA)

Epic game 4, as Darvish allowed 2Runs in the first, the Cubs could not figure out young phenom Dustin May. He was cruising through 4innings and only allowed one hit, but the Cubs were working his pitch count, and they delivered in the 5th inning putting up a 4 spot and firmly taking a 4-2 lead thanks to a 2out bases clearing double by Anthony Rizzo. They tacked another run in the 5th, but the Dodgers answered back with 2 of their own and forcing Darvish out of the game.

Cubs added on and made it 6-4 in the 8th. The Dodgers turn at the plate was game changing. Nate Jones was in to pitch for the Cubs and with 2 outs and 2 on, Willson Contreras hits a 3 run go ahead home run. Kenley Jansen in to save the game for the Dodgers and the Cubs refused to go down. Bryant, Baez, and Rizzo all started the innings with hit, and Nico Hoerner drove in the go ahead runs to give the Cubs a 9-7 lead, where yet again Craig Kimbrel came in to close out the series and notch his 3rd save.

              Cubs Win 9-7

              Cubs win series 3-1

Despite the series only going 4, it was a hard fought battle. The Cubs very well may have knocked out the best competition in the NL and were able to get rid of the LAD demons of past seasons. They head to the NLCS to face off VS the Phillies.
              Cubs Vs Phillies NLCS

              Game 1: Julio Urias (14-11, 3.40ERA) Vs Aaron Nola (18-7, 2.86ERA)

Cubs Win 7-5: The Cubs struck early and often off of Ace Aaron Nola, as they pushed across a run in each of the first 3 innings, thanks to solo home runs by Bryant and Baez. The Phillies were able to fight back against Urias and finally got on the board in the 4th with a run, and tacked on 2 more in the 5th to tie the score.

The 7th had the Cubs put up 3 runs thanks to a 2r double by Nico Hoerner and an RBI single by Gregg Scruggs. The Phillies answered back with 2 of their own in the bottom half of the inning which brought the Cubs lead to 1. Cubs tacked on some insurance in the 8th with an RBI by David Bote and Kimbrel shut down the 9th en route to his 4th save of the postseason and giving the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the series.

              Game 2: Kyle Hendricks (15-11, 3.45ERA) Vs Michael Fulmer (6-10, 3.39 ERA)

Cubs Win 4-0: A masterful postseason pitching performance comes from the man who has done it before, Kyle Hendricks. He is quickly becoming a Cubs postseason legend and this complete game 2 hit shutout of the Phillies in game 2 will be remembered in Chicago for a long time as he amazingly did It in 82 pitches. The Cubs scored 2 in the 4th, and put up a run each in the 5th and 6th. Hoerner provided 2 more RBI’s as did Rizzo and the pitcher Hendricks. Easy and dominant win for the Cubs. Lead Series 2-0

              Game 3: Dinelson Limet (8-11, 3.09ERA) Vs Zack Wheeler (9-7, 3.47 ERA)

Cubs Win 7-4:Lamet was hit early in this one and gave up 3 hits and 1 run in the first. Cubs came roaring back and put up a 3 spot in the first thanks to Baez and Schwarber. Lamet then gave up 2 more runs in the 2nd. He only lasted 4 innings.

The Cubs bullpen then was amazing as they allowed only 2 hits and no runs over the next 5 innings. The biggest hit was delivered in the 6th as pinch hitter Jason Kipnis hit a 2 run double to permanently give the Cubs the lead, Kimbrel came in yet again for his 5th save and giving the Cubs a dominating 3-0 lead in the series.

              Game 4 : Yu Darvish (18-8, 3.12ERA) Vs Aaron Nola(18-7, 2.86 ERA)
Cubs Win 6-5: The Phillies were not going to go down without a fight, and although the series was all but won, this one lasted 16 innings in a long duel at Wrigley Field. Darvish was hit up badly and gave up 5 runs in his 5 innings pitched.

Aaron Nola on short rest was not much better, as the Cubs pushed him out of the game after 6 innings and giving up 4 runs. It was a battle of the bullpens the rest of the way, and the Phillies pen accumulated 9.1IP and only gave up 2 runs.

The Cubs bullpen yet again was surprisingly even better. The Cubs pen went 11 innings after Darvish was pulled and did not give up a single run and only 4 hits. This included masterful performances from Brandon Morrow (4IP) and Craig Kimbrel (3IP) who were asked to go beyond their usual call for duty. The Cubs knew a win would allow a week’s rest and were all in it to win. The Cubs finally broke free in the 16th inning with a walkoff solo blast off the bat of Nico Hoerner who has been amazing in the postseason thus far, and for the 1st time since 2016 the Cubs are back in the world series again.

The Twins and Angels were fighting for the AL pennant, and the Angels also took a commanding 3-0 lead in the series. The Twins fought back and evened the series at 3 and forced a game 7 between Syndegaard and Ohtahni. The Angels proved victorious and will take on the Cubs. Joe Maddon will be a central storyline of this one.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Spring training continues and the Yanks have now dropped 4 out of 5 after starting a blistering 8-1. We’ve forgotten how to pitch all of a sudden, allowing 33 hits and 19 runs in the last 2 games. That being said, I’m focused less on broader results and more on individual performance and evaluation at this stage.

Michael King and Deivi Garcia were both touched up in their second start of the spring, neither made it to their target of 4 IP. Jonathan Loaisiga is now the front runner for the 5th starter role as he’s allowed just 4 runs in his 10 innings of work thus far.

Mike Tauchman has been unconscious, far and away the top performer on the team. He belted 3 solo homers in a single game against the Pirates, 2 of them traveling over 450 ft. The next day he torched Felix Hernandez for a 3-run jack to cap a 7-run second inning (in a game we eventually lost).

The bullpen has been hot and cold. Chapman blew another save against Atlanta and Britton has been pretty rough as well. Kahnle and Holder have both been nearly untouchable. My front 4 starters have thankfully all looked stellar.

Finally Rosell Herrera is separating himself as the frontrunner for primary utilityman duties. He doesn’t have any big tools but he’s super versatile on both sides of the ball and is a decent runner. Tyler Wade and Thairo Estrada are both toeing the Mendoza line and Herrera is batting near .300.

Each of my starting pitchers will get 2 more starts before we head north as they continue to stretch out. One of my upcoming games is bookended by 3 off days, so it seems like a good time to try out a “bullpen game.”

Just played a 20 inning game with my now 7 years in Dodgers franchise.

                  Final: Dodgers 2, Padres 1

                  Notable things:
                  1. game started at 1:10 on a Thursday, ended at 6:43 PM. The stadium lights came on at 6:00 Pm. Shadow progression throughout was a thing of beauty.

                  2. game log stopped tracking after the 17th inning

                  3. in the 19th, with a bases loaded, one out, I hit a foul fly down left filed line..sliced into stands. Matt remarked how the defense "let the ball land foul, and was very smart"..

                  4. I wish the computer manager would go to his next available starter when he has used up all his pen.

                  5. Game ended on a Chris Taylor sack fly..player celebration was standard walk-off .

                  6. Crowd emptied out a bit, but still a lot of fans left at the end.

                  7. Used Kershaw as a pinch hitter in the 16th..still had a reliever left. Game then made Kershaw pitch to 3 batters at the start of the next inning.

                    World Series 2021

Joe Maddon has fingerprints all over this series. Many of the Cubs who won the World Series in 2016 in Joe Maddon’s 2nd season with the Cubs are still there, while the Angels in only his 2nd season he has taken this team to the world series, Mike Trout’s first. You have the likely AL MVP and NL MVP in the same series. The Angels also came in as the WC team, went the full 5 in the ALDS, and the full 7 in the ALCS, so they have fought hard to get here. It will be a great one.

                    Cubs Vs Angels

                    Game 1: Julio Urias (14-11, 3.40ERA) Vs Andrew Heaney (6-10, 4.37ERA)

Cubs Win 6-1: This one was cruise control for the Cubs. The Cubs went down early in the 2nd on a double from Trout and an RBI single from Jose Abreu, but the Cubs roared back in the 3rd inning tying up the game on an RBI single from Justin Turner. They also scored 3 more in the 4th with the meat of the order Scruggs, Bryant, and Baez punishing Heaney.

Urias went 6IP strong giving up the lone run, and the bullpen as they have done with the rest of the postseason closed down the final 3 innings in a 6-1 victory, and a 1-0 series lead.

                    Game 2: Kyle Hendricks (15-11, 3.45ERA) Vs Shohei Ohtani (10-12, 4.50
                    ERA)

                    Cubs Lose 8-5:

At this point the Cubs have won 8 straight playoff games after losing game 1 of the NLDS, but the luck could not hold out forever. The game was scoreless through 3 innings until the Angels brought in the first run of the game on a solo blast from David Fletcher.

Hendricks imploded in the 6th inning in a 1-0 game and gave up 5 runs before being pulled. Ohtani on the other hand cruised through 5 2/3 innings giving up only 1 run. The bullpen almost blew it for the Angels as the Cubs scored a run in the 7th and 3 in the 8th to make it a 2 run game, but the Angels tacked on insurance in the 9th and ultimately won the game 8-5. This tied up the series at 1-1, and let the Cubs know that the Angels were not going down easily.

                    Game 3: Dinelson Limet (8-11, 3.09ERA) Vs Jaime Barria (4-3, 2.21 ERA)

                    Cubs lose 6-4:

Cubs struck first in the 2nd inning on a solo HR from Anthony Rizzo, the Halo’s responded with a HR of their own from Trout in the 2nd inning. Schwarber wanted in on the action and hit a solo shot in the 3rd, but the Angels got 2 more runs in the bottom of the 3rd with a 2 run double from Jose Abreu.

Fletcher tacked on another run with a double in the 4th, and Adam Eaton powered a 2 run HR in the 5th to end Lamet’s day and give the Angels a firm 6-2 lead. Cubs tried getting back into it with a 2 run HR of their own making the score 6-4, but the Angels bullpen held the score at that for the rest of the game. Cubs lose a 2nd straight game, and now the Angels lead the series 2-1.

                    Game 4 : Yu Darvish (18-8, 3.12ERA) Vs Gio Gonzalez (12-7, 3.90 ERA)

                    Cubs win 9-8:

This was a classic great world series game. The Cubs struck fast in the 1st inning when Baez hit a 2R HR in the first inning. They added to the lead in the 3rd with an RBI double from Kris Bryant. Darvish looked good through 3 innings, but it fell apart shortly after. Darvish gave up 2 in the 4th, and 2 in the 5th which was it for him.

The Cubs did score 2 of their own in the 4th with Scruggs and Rizzo providing RBI singles. The usual sturdy Cubs bullpen came into the game with a 5-4 lead and immediately gave it away when Nate Jones gave up 2 runs. The Cubs scored 3 run’s in return in the 7th inning giving the Cubs an 8-6 lead. Good enough you would think for the rest of the bullpen, but Dan Winkler also gave up 2 more runs thanks to a 2R HR by Mike Trout. It was tied 8-8 heading into the 9th when Bryant pulled through with an RBI single for the Cubs and gave them the 9-8 lead. Kimbrel who has been perfect in the postseason remained perfect and secured the crazy win for the Cubs.

Javy Baez was an absolute monster this game as he went 5-5 with 3 runs, and 2RBI.

                    Series tied 2-2

                    Game 5: Julio Teheran (13-7, 3.69) Vs Andrew Heaney (6-10, 4.37)

                    Cubs lose 4-2:

Julio Teheran has been a savior for the Cubs in the postseason. Despite him having a great regular season, he was the odd man out in the playoff rotation but was able to produce 8 innings and 0 runs so far in the postseason and the Cubs were going to rely on him to start game 5.

Teheran did give up a run in the first on a Trout RBI single, but he calmed down after that. The game was tied 1-1 heading into the 6th, and both Heaney and Teheran were in a duel, but the Angels put up a crooked number in the 6th pouncing on Teheran for 3 runs, with 2 of them coming off the bat of Abreu.
The Cubs managed to push in a run in the 9th, but it was not enough as the Halo’s pitched great and won the game 4-2 largely thanks to Heaney’s gem.

                    Angels Lead 3-2

                    Game 6: Kyle Hendricks (15-11, 3.45ERA) Vs Shohei Ohtani (10-12, 4.50 ERA)

                    Cubs Win 8-4:

Rematch on the bump from game 2 in which Hendricks got shelled and Ohtani pitched very solid. The Cubs managed to score 1 run in each of the first 2 innings on Ohtani thanks to RBI doubles from Rizzo and Schwarber.

The Angels got a run off Hendricks in the 3rd on a HR from Tommy Pham. Score was 2-1in favor of the Cubbies and it got even larger in the 6th inning when the Cubs put up a 4 spot and finally got to Ohtani. The Angels managed to put up a fight and scored 2 in the 8th, but it was not enough as the Cubs shut them down in the 9th and forced a game 7 thanks in large part to Jason Heyward’s 4-4 game. Hendricks yet again delivered a huge postseason start for the Cubs.

                    Series tied 3-3

Just like in 2016 the Cubs came from behind in the series and forced a legendary game 7 that history will never forget. Is this game 7 primed to be another fall classic masterpiece? Who will hoist the trophy, the Angels or Cubs?

Veteran goes seven strong in win

                      April 7, 2020
Minneapolis--- Kenta Madea continues to dazzle in a Minnesota Twins uniform, and the bats did just enough as Minnesota sent the Cleveland Indians to their eighth consecutive loss, 5-0.

Maeda (3-0) scattered four hits over seven shutout innings, while striking out six with one walk. Maeda has now lowered his ERA to a miniscule 1.00 over 18 innings of work on the season. Tyler Clippard and Tyler Duffey helped preserve the shutout as they each worked one inning.

Indians starter Carlos Carrasco (1-1) did all he could to keep his team in the game, but the Indians slumping offense just could not help him out. Carrasco gave up a solo homerun to Jorge Polanco in the first inning and then an RBI single to Alex Avila in the second. The game stayed 2-0 until Nelson Cruz connected on a 3-1 hanging slider with two-men on base, giving the Twins some breathing room at 5-0.

“We had chances all night but we just could not get that big hit until Nelly got one,” commented Twins outfielder Max Kepler, who contributed two hits in the game. “Also Kenta was brilliant and has been a huge addition for our ball club. He is fun to play behind because he attacks hitters”

The Twins and Indians will close out the series on Wednesday afternoon. Jake Odorizzi (1-1, 1.50) will get on the bump for Minnesota, while Cleveland will counter with Aaron Civale (1-1, 9.82). First pitch is scheduled for 12:10 PM.

It is good that SDS added many real minor leaguers to the game. Presumable their names are in the game as voice files, but were not added to the first and last name voice file database. It would be very much appreciated if SDS in the future would use their included voice files to generate additions to the names database.

Since online gameplay is a mess right now I am starting up a franchise. I really enjoyed the way March to October worked with the critical moments so much that I'll be playing a franchise that way. I thought about continuing my MtO instead, but I'll save it for when I need more Braves affinity points and I think it's a little too easy on default Legend. My team was on pace to set numerous records. I was on pace to win 120, Freeman was batting .400, Acuna had 30 HR in the first week of June. It was fun, the momentum you gain can just be a little over the top.

So I'll be just playing only critical moments, zone hitting with meter pitching on Legend with lowered Human Timing and increased pitch speeds. I may tune some sliders the more I play, but those seem to be balanced so far in all the test games I have done.

I also used Ridin's most recent rosters. I played one moment last night and it happened to be the season opener. It was the bottom of the 9th, Soroka had a shutout going with a 2-0 lead. I ended up surrendering one run, but Soroka still got the complete game, gave up only 1 run, and got the win. I'm excited to see what all this method of playing throws at me, and I'm excited that all of this simming will really make building a complete team more of a priority as I won't be able to potentially have guys outplay their ratings nearly as much.

                              Cardinals sweep Cubs in Wrigley

The Cardinals (33-26) have swept arch rival Cubs in a 3 game weekend series at Wrigley Field. This is the 5th win in a row. The Cardinals are now in 2nd place in the National League Central division, just 2 games behind the Brewers. They are currently the 2nd wildcard team behind the Braves.

The Cardinals bats loves Cubs pitching as the Cardinals scored 21 runs this series, after scoring 29 runs 3 weeks ago in a 3 game series. For those counting that is 50 runs scored in 6 games versus the Cubs this season.

The Cardinals saw Michael Wacha dominate the Cubs in the series opener thru 5 innings before being lifted due to shoulder stiffness. He is listed as day to day, but is expected to make his next start. Wacha was perfect thru 4 innings before he walked Juan Kelly. His no hitter was broken up in the 6th by Alex Bregman who singled. After that pitch Wacha was lifted with the shoulder issue. The bats were strong as Anthony Rendon and Brendan McKay carried the offense in this game going a perfect 7 for 7 combined with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI's.

Carlos Martinez picked up where Wacha led off in game 2 as he went 8 solid innings allowing 0 runs on just 3 hits. He struck out 5 and issued just one walk. The Cardinals got offense from Dylan Carlson who drove in 2 of the 3 runs in the Cardinals 3-0 victory.

The series finale saw the offense again jump out thanks to Juan Fabregas and his 3 run homerun in the 1st. The Cardinals would end up winning the game 9-4, as Jack Flaherty was solid thru 5 1/3 innings, but began getting hit around. The bullpen was able to right the ship and keep the Cubs from tallying any additional runs.

The Cardinals are off tomorrow but will have a quick 2 game series in Busch against the division leading Brewers. They will then host the Cubs for a 4 game weekend series.

                              June Schedule

                              2 vs MIL
                              4 vs CHC
                              3 @ ARZ
                              3 @ LAD
                              2 vs TB
                              3 vs BAL
                              4 @ NYM
                              3 @ PIT (games 2 and 3 in July)

Is there any way to prevent the simmed games from using whatever lineups they feel like? Doing this critical moments only franchise I am seeing my offense sputter because the sims insist on using some really dumb lineups.
