I don't go by games, I go by plate appearances. The amount of rest days is directly determined by how much I want someone to get a better look/the positional availability of more well-rested players in the lineup. It's a large reason I signed Brad Miller to be my 3rd basemen in my Miners franchise as he can play every position.

        CHARLOTTE

        MINERS

        FRANCHISE

        up to the deadline

        Charlotte VS Milwaukee
        [3] - [2]
Big seventh inning propels the Miners to victory over the Brewers

Michael Wacha twirled a steady game for the Miners and Didi Gregorious hit a 3-run stroke as the Miners triumphed over the Brewers 3-2 at SAS Park.

Wacha, one of the main free agent signings of the Miners in the prior off-season, pitcher 6th and a 3rd before handing the game over to the bullpen, tossing 8 strikeouts and only allowing 3 hits and 2 walks, giving up one earned run. Feltman would come in to close out the inning, as Vizcaino and Colome would shut down the 8th and 9th respectively, only giving up an earned run off a weird bloop single which scored Yelich from 2nd. Gregorious, another free agent signing by the Miners, collected his 20th home run this season, adding another dinger to what has been a resurgent season for the Netherlands-born shortstop.

When asked about the game, manager Wathan said "This is what this team can be when we all click. We pitched well as a squad, our bats showed up at key times, and we were consistent on the defensive side of the ball. I'm proud of the boys performances and that's a pretty good summary of how I feel." Wathan, who you may recall caught some flak for comments about reliever Durbin Feltman, put him in the game again in a high-leverage situation for the first time since their quarrel. "McKinney sat us down and chatted with us and basically put ice on the situation." Feltman said. "He really helped us both calm down. Sometimes when a team isn't performing well everyone is on edge in a sense, and it's nice to have a GM that understands that and can help right the ship whenever a problem arises."

With the Miners an MLB-worst 30-62, it is clear that as the trade deadline approaches management doesn't want to say the wrong thing. McKinney, who typically is present with the players in press conferences after the games, has missed the last 2 weeks worth of press conferences, presumably to avoid questions on some of his players. It's worth noting, that the 2 biggest standouts for their team- Michael Wacha and Didi Gregorious are free agents at seasons end. With teams calling on both, it will be interesting to see what they do in relation to trades as the deadline approaches.

        ---------------------------

        Trade Deadline 2022

        Trade Deadline

We entered the trade deadline dead last in the league by a long shot with a record of 31-71. A lot of our core essentially hit a cold slump at the same time, and the resultant effect has just carried from there. I can’t find anyone doing terribly on our roster with the exception of Michael Conforto having a -2 WAR which stems from how corner outfielders are evaluated in this game and not him actually performing terribly, his average is down significantly but he’s still on pace to hit over 30 home runs and has an OPS above .700, just not performing as well as i’d hope, so there’s no real place to put blame. It just makes more overall sense to trade guys that are expiring to retain value for them, and potentially resign in the future.

The first trade we made was we sent Michael Wacha to the Rockies, who are in a tight race for the 1st NL wildcard with the Cubs. Their starting pitching is fine, it just has no depth to it and their 4th starter is out for a while, so we shipped Wacha who was having an excellent season to strengthen their rotation. We got starting pitcher Antonio Senzatela and 2nd base prospect Cameron Cannon. Senzatela is a victim of a lot of depth in Colorado, as he hasn’t really impressed any more than the guys who are above him, but he has 2 more years of team control on him and has performed well for Colorado in the past. Control needs some work, but we love his pitch selection, and feel as though he has untapped talent so he will immediately come up and get a role in the rotation for us. However, I will say the plan was to extend Wacha, so don’t be surprised to see him come back in free agency.

Secondly, we sent SS Didi Gregorious to the Dodgers for pitching prospect Albert Hernandez. Gregorious has been doing great for us this year, he’s been playing on a 3 WAR pace but his fielding is still suspect, so it made more sense for him to go to a team like the Dodgers who have other options in spades. What pushed this deal through is that their starting 3rd baseman, Kody Hoese is out for a while so they needed another infielder to play a depth role as outside of Michael Busch, who is lining up as a 3rd baseman for them they do not have any MLB talent to play infield. The prospect we got back, Hernandez, is doing pretty well for the Drillers this season, and has some potential to him. He won’t ever be a top of the rotation guy, but could definitely be a 3rd/4th/5th starter.

Lastly, we traded CF Billy Burns to the Astros. Burns has been a good player for us since our inaugural season here in Charlotte, but has been struggling this season offensively. Still, the Astros could use a depth outfielder for their push, not to mention Burns is also a walk/steal threat, adding an extra layer to their offense. We got starting pitching prospect Jayson Schroeder in return for Burns, who is a good strikeout pitcher but needs work in most other areas before being a starter at a higher level for us, but shows flashes of ace potential. He’s just really stuck behind the absurd pitching depth the Astros have, so he’s coming over to us.

As a result of the moves we’ve added Greg Jones to the 40 man and called him up to the MLB. The 36th-ranked prospect in the league will finally get the call after tearing up triple-A posting a near-300 batting average. Monte Harrison has also gotten the call up. Expect the ballpark to be booming when Jones makes his MLB debut, as he is yet another North Carolinan to make his way to the Miners.

Not sure if this has been discussed but this thread is huge. I just started a franchise and wanted to upgrade my coaching staff but I can't fire anyone because it says I can't afford it right now. I have $9 Mil in the bank balance though so I'm unsure why it won't let me do this because meanwhile I've been able to sign guys to new contracts. I will say my projected cash flow right now is - (negative) $2.61 and I'm pretty sure that number should have dropped but didn't after I traded away a few guys that had large contracts. Does this number update weekly? I'm pretty new to handling money in franchise mode so if anyone could help explain how this works would be awesome, thanks.

Cardinals finish month of April with 13-15 record

The Cardinals have completed the month of April and finish the month with a 13-15 record which is good for a tie of 3rd place in the NL Central. The Brewers lead the division at 17-10.

              NL Central Standings:

              Brewers 17-10
              Reds 16-12 (1.5 GB)
              Pirates 13-15 (4.5 GB)
              Cardinals 13-15 (4.5 GB)
              Cubs 12-16 (5.5 GB)

The Cardinals offense has sputtered here in the past 10 days or so, especially the month series finale against the Padres where they only collected 16 hits in 3 games, and that includes the series finale on Sunday where they got 10 hits.

The Cardinals pitching has improved as the month went on, although the bullpen is still shaky at times. Starters are averaging about 6 1/3 innings per start right now, which is taking the pressure off the bullpen.

The Cardinals will start the month of May in Cincinnati with a 3 game series against the Reds. They will be off on Thursday and then travel to our nation's capital to face the Nationals for a 3 game weekend series. After an off day Monday, they will visit Tampa Bay for a quick 2 game mid-week series with the Rays.

              May Schedule

              3 @ CIN
              3 @ WSH
              2 @ TB
              3 vs ATL
              3 vs CHC
              4 @ PHI
              3 vs CIN
              4 vs ARZ
              3 @ MIL (3rd game is June 1st)

The Cardinals front office and manager Mike Matheny have always preferred to give players a month at least to adjust to the new season before considering roster moves, but there could be a few that are made this month as the Cardinals look to bounce back in the month of May and get above the .500 mark.

Cardinals place Harrison Bader on 10 Day IL

The Cardinals have placed Harrison Bader on the 10 Day IL for a leg injury. Bader left Sunday's series finale against the Padres in the top of the 3rd inning after he crashed into the wall trying to make a catch on a fly ball hit by Owen Miller. The injury doesn't appear to be significant, but its enough the Cardinals placed him on IL.

OF Eddie Ortiz was recalled from Memphis to take the open roster spot. It's expected that Dylan Carlson will start in centerfield until Bader returns.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Nationals Terrible Start To Season Continues, Fall to 0-5

Anibal Sanchez pitched about as good a game as the Nationals could have asked of him. The Nationals offense, however, did not come to play and they ended up losing 1-2. Game two of the Marlins series went ever worse. Joe Ross pitched 5 solid innings giving up only 3 runs and left the game with his team down 1-3. The Nationals bullpen went on to give up another 5 runs as the Nationals fell to the Marlins 2-8. Rookie Tim Cate makes his major league debut in the third and final game of the series against Pablo Lopez and the Miami Marlins. The Nationals need a win, can their 22 year old rookie pitcher making his MLB debut give them their first one of the season?

After a rough start to the road trip the Dodgers (22-6) sweep the woeful Pirates (6-22) in Pittsburgh by scores of 5-1, 10-0 and 3-1.

24 April 20- Another masterful pitching performance by Clayton Kershaw (5-0, 1.20) led the Dodgers to the game 1 win. Kershaw’s 8 innings and 11 strikeouts gave the bullpen a much needed rest after being heavily relied upon against the Nationals.

25 April 20- Dodgers easily take game 2, scoring 10 runs on only 9 hits while being walked 8 times. The Pirates managed only 3 hits in the game, 2 against Walker Buehler (3-1, 2.43) who struck out 7 in as many innings.

AAA Oklahoma City Catcher Keibert Ruiz will miss 1 to 2 weeks due to a Sprained Knee Ligament.

26 April 20- Dodgers complete the sweep against the overly matched Pirates. Julio Urias (4-1, 3.03) notched the win, but only last 5 innings as he continue to struggles with his stamina. Kenley Jansen (1.00) earned save number 8 on the season.

With a Monday rest day the Doders will close out the month of April hosting the Minnesota Twins (16-13) for 2 games. Projected pitching matchups are:

                  David Price (2-3, 3.81) v Devin Smeltzer (3-0, 1.34)
                  Alex Wood (4-0, 0.56) v Jose Berrios (2-1, 3.75)

                    Tigers @ Twins(April 17th-April 19th)
Hey guys, I’m new here and I thought I’d give this a try on here, if you enjoy this or have any suggestions, please let me know, as this is my first time.

The Tigers came out slow to start the series in Game 1, with a big first inning for the Twinkies, but after that they soon settled down with back to back homers in the 4th, as well as another very solid pitching performance from Fulmer, as he continues to bounce back from the past two years.

Game 2 once again started out very slow for the Tigers, and it ultimately cost them. Turnbull turned in his best performance of the year, going 5 strong with only 2 runs, but the offensive didn't wake up until the 8th inning, after being dominated by Berrios all game long. Cabrera, Cron, and Rogers continue to be very hot for the Tigers in the series.

In the finale, the Tiger bats came alive, as well as Boyd having his best performance of the series, as the Tigers shut down the home crowd early and often in this one. After going up 3-0 in the 3rd, they never looked back and Matthew Boyd went a strong 7.2 innings(in which both runs given up were HRs). The Tigers capitalized on a Minnesota team who is very much struggling, and took 2/3 for the third consecutive road divisional series that they have played. Overall, the Tigers have been surprisingly good this year with a killer offensive approach and have been very fun to watch while only sitting 5.5 GB of the AL Central lead. They now head home to Comerica for a week-long homestand, versus the New York Yankees for 4, and then the San Diego Padres for 3.

I went into the Dynasty Table Generator tab under Dynasty within your Arena. And then you put your stats in, and then copy the html into your post!

Absolute disaster strikes on opening day for my 2023 Giants. Max Muncy, who signed a 6 year, $180m mega deal in the offseason, fractured his arm in the 2nd inning of the game. I was in shock at the time. It was hard to play the rest of the game.

Anyone else have any devastating injuries they'd like to share?

On the side of my Miners franchise i'm doing a Seattle one for leisure and an Orioles one to follow along with Jerseyborn's series on youtube and in the Seattle one George Kirby got a Tommy John injury less than a month into the first season.

                              CHARLOTTE

                              MINERS

Shoemaker, Fagalde fall apart as Miners get dismantled by Cubs

It was surely a night to forget for the Miners as they get absolutely lambasted by the Chicago Cubs by a score of 14 to nil. Chicago's offense took off in the first, scoring 12 of their 14 runs in the first inning, nearly cycling the lineup twice before Elvis Araujo finally recorded the final out of the first, freeing the Miners from their suffering.

Matt Shoemaker and Alex Fagalde were the culprits of what can only be described as the day of the apocalypse for them, as Matt Shoemaker would give up 2 walks, 4 hits, and 6 earned runs before recording a second out. Dusty Wathan would try to remedy the issue by sending in newly-minted long reliever Alex Fagalde to pitch a few innings in relief for Shoemaker. Fagalde would get Howie Kendrick to ground out to 3rd but would then give up 5 subsequent hits and 5 earned runs capped off by a Kris Bryant 3-run shot to left, causing Wathan to then swap him out for reliever Elvis Araujo who would finally come in and get the last out via strikeout.

The bats also came out sleeping as no Miners player recorded over 1 hit in the game. Brad Miller would record a walk in the 5th, and the entire heart of the order would get a hit apiece, but they all came sporadically with the presumed cause of being a completely demoralized team. Pedro Alvarez lead the team in strikeouts with 3, being tied by catcher Kyle Higashioka. No Miners player would come out for postgame interviews, and Miners staff also refused to comment.

The Miners, who were already the first team mathematically eliminated this year, now sit at an astounding 39-93, placing them well past dead last in the NL Central, and the league. Reports allege that Miners higher-ups have called for a full team meeting tommorrow morning at SAS Park, where it's expected owner James Goodnight will be present.

Big 8th inning puts Miners ahead of Brewers in rare win

The Miners recorded their 42nd win of the year this afternoon against the wildcard-chasing Brewers. Daniel Norris struggled early giving up 3 runs prior to the 4th batter but would regain composure and twirl a solid 5 innings for the Miners. The bullpen would hop back in and be immaculate, as Fagalde, Garcia, Fletcher, and Rodriguez would all pitch scoreless innings, only giving up 1 walk and 2 hits.

The 8th was the real story for the Miners, as Higashioka recorded a rare home run to give the Miners a spark, and young talent Greg Jones hit a bases clearing single after a Wong double coupled with a Harrison single to give the Miners a lead. Higashioka, who prior to this game had recorded a mere 3 home runs, said "The hitter just didn't get his pitch to break, y'know.. as a catcher I get to watch a lot of throws and Knebel just didn't get the movement he wanted and I just sorta hit it as hard as I could and thankfully it carried." Rodriguez, who recently usurped free-agent signing Alex Colome in the closer role, closed out the game in spectacular fashion off a deadly liner right at him. Rodriguez, 31, has a sub-2 ERA on the season this year. With Colome expired at the end of the season, it's not hard to believe that the Miners view Rodriguez as a future closer for them. Wathan really likes how well he performs in key situations.

                              Next up: postseason review, offseason.

Kepler drive in three in win

Seattle--- Kenta Maeda pitched well again and Max Kepler drove in three runs as the Minnesota Twins ended their season-opening road trip with a 7-1 win over the Seattle Mariners.

The Twins ended their road trip at a respectable 4-3.

Maeda (2-0), who pitched out of a couple of jams, allowed just one run over six innings of work. He scattered seven hits with two walks while striking out four. The bullpen of Tyler Clippard, Sergio Romo and Matt Wisler shut the door with one inning each.

Kepler led the way with a RBI double and a two-run triple to break out of slump to start the season. Nelson Cruz also delivered two hits and two runs batted in in the victory, while Miguel Sano had a two-run double.

The Twins will head back to Minnesota for their home-opener on Thursday afternoon against the Oakland Athletics. Jake Odorizzi (0-1) will get the home opening start, with first pitch set for 3:10 PM.
