CHARLOTTE, NC: The Charlotte Miners announced today that they have signed former Mets right fielder to a Michael Conforto to a long-term contract. This signing comes directly after a recent splurge by the Miners, who just last weekend signed pitchers Daniel Norris, Michael Wacha, and Alex Colome to deals.
Conforto, 29, was reportedly unhappy with how the Mets were being handled in his time there and sought to the newly-minted team as a high-priority destination due to it's handling by rookie GM McKinney. Conforto stated "McKinney simply approaches me with more respect and knowledge than what I experienced in New York. I'm not saying the Mets were unprofessional, I just simply prefer the atmosphere the front office has here" at a press conference today.
Conforto has never recorded below 25 home runs in a full season in his MLB career. Over his 6 year career in the MLB, he has never recorded below 25 home runs or 60 RBI's in a season, and has been an average 3.9 WAR player.
While contract details are yet to be confirmed sources at The Athletic have speculated the contract to be for 6 years coming it at around 8 million dollars a year in total value. The Miners also announced the signing of utility infielder Brad Miller to a one year deal.
