You don’t need to compete with the dodgers you need to compete for the wild card spot.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Game 1 2020 season: Chicago White Sox.
Eloy is ready to continue towards stardom. I've resigned Edwin Encarnacion to a 2yr deal with player option for the 2nd season. I've sent Madrigal back down to AAA till at least mid season. Luis Robert will start the season as our CF of the future, splitting time with Adam Engel. The only real FA move I've made was signing Puig and adding to our latin flavor in the squad. Expecting 1 more season before I'm truly competing, maybe getting a wildcard spot this season if we are lucky.
Game 1 against the Royals: 2nd pitch of the season for our hitters and Leury Garcia goes yard. His next at bat in the 4th he does it again. 2 HR's to open the season for Garcia and Encarnacion gets one for himself.
We are up 3-0 going into the 5th and looking good. Then KC's bats woke up.... A HR in the 5th by O' Hearn and 2 more runs in the 7th tied it up. Brought Colome in, in the 8th to get us to the 9th....Mistakes were made. Sent him back out in the 9th and gave up a 2 run HR to Salvador Perez. The Royals sent Tim Hill out to close. He gave up 1 hit and struck out 2 to send KC to victory 6-4 in game 1 of 162. A dissapointing loss to a promising season for the Whitesox to say the least. One positive was Luis Robert got his first major league hit in the 7th with a bloop single to right, going 1/4 in the day.
Back at it for game 2 tomorrow.Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC

Yeah. He was talking specifically about the option called "CPU Roster Control". With that option, there are no injuries. With 30 team control, or just controlling any number of teams, injuries work like usual.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Just got to the end of spring training in my Red Sox franchise. It's gonna be weird without Mookie but I'm excited to see how it goes. We'll see how the season unfolds before I decide my exact future plans beyond the 2020 season other than attempting to re-sign Mookie as a free agent. If I'm competing for the division, I'll probably make smaller moves as needed. If I'm in the wild card or worse, I'll sell some short term pieces. Will be waiting on Sale and Verdugo to return from injury.
Line up
1. LF Andrew Benintendi
2. SS Xander Bogaerts
3. DH JD Martinez
4. 3B Rafael Devers
5. 1B Mitch Moreland/ Michael Chavis
6. C Christian Vázquez
7. RF Kevin Pillar
8. 2B Jose Peraza/ Michael Chavis
9. CF Jackie Bradley Jr
Bench
IF Jonathan Arauz
C Kevin Plawecki
C/1B Jonathan Lucroy
One of Moreland, Chavis, and Peraza
The plan is for Martinez to be the primary 4th outfielder with Peraza also getting time out there. We will definitely be counting on health from our starters. Lucroy had a really good spring but we need to perform to not be the one squeezed out when Verdugo returns.
Rotation
1. Eduardo Rodriguez
2. Nathan Eovaldi
3. Martin Perez
4. Ryan Weber
5. Colin McHugh
Bullpen
Closer: Brandon Workman
Set up: Matt Barnes
Rest: Josh Osich, Marcus Walden, D. Hernandez, Josh Taylor, Ryan Brasier, Austin Brice
The pitching staff will be what determines the season imo. Rodriguez, Workman, and Barnes are the only ones with set roles. Everyone else will move around based on performance as we move alongComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
A LITTLE BACKGROUND: I’ve played “The Show” series since 2013 and started playing every game of my franchise since 2016 (I only play franchise, no DD, no MTO, nothing else)
Just a few more games left in the Angels Spring Training with games against Arizona (1) and a (2)home and (2)away series with the Dodgers.
The team’s looking real good this spring. Trout started out slow, going at least 6 games before going above the Mendoza Line, to where I had to actually put him on a training regimen for batting. Once his bat got going, he leads the team in average (because Trout). Rendon also looks good in his inaugural Angels season, batting in the 3-spot. Otani’s bat is starting to show some fluidity, to counteract his pitching (more on that later).
The manager’s having a tough time making a choice on Jo Adell in the field. LF belongs to Upton of course, I don’t even have to tell you which $400M guy gets the CF, but the battle for RF rages on. On one hand, Jo Adell is my third best outfielder (batting wise), hitting a modest .300 this spring (68 rating down from 70 because morale), but he’s 20 years old and could use some work in the minors. Both Goodwin (76 rating) and Hermosillo (64) didn’t have a good spring, but Goodwin started to really heat up these past 4 games. I’m leaning toward starting Goodwin with Adell as my bench outfielder, but this is rough. Do I give Joe more work, or start him in the majors. Love to know what you guys think about this. There is quite the battle going on for Catcher between Castro and Stassi (both having subpar springs)
Our pitching doesn’t look too bad from a starters stand point, but my bullpen could use some help. Otani is by my worst starter, giving up a 4.50 era w/ 17 IP in 4 starts. All of his runs have been by homer. Let’s see if he can keep the ball down going into his final spring start against the Dodgers. Heaney (believe it or not) is my best pitcher overall, giving 1 run in 4 starts with 17 IP. He’s my Opening Day guy against Houston. The real battle is for my Middle relievers. I currently have 5 guys battling for 3 spots, with only 1 spot being locked up. All 5 relievers have had a decent spring with ratings averaging 74, but we’ll see how they all look going into this final series in Los Angeles.
Opening Day lineup is looking as follows (5 more spring games so things could change):
1- (1B) La Stella
2- (CF) Trout
3- (3B) Rendon
4- (LF) Upton
5- (DH) Pujols / Otani
6- (SS) Simmons
7- (C) Castro (rough spring, but getting hot) / Stassi (hot start, but got cold)
8- (RF) Goodwin
9- (2B) Fletcher
Rotation
1- Heaney
2- Andriese
3- Teheran
4- Bundy
5- OtaniComment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Sitting in first place in the NL West right now at 14-7. Dodgers are right behind me at 14-8
Studs:
Fernando Tatis JR: .390, 8 HR, 10 RBI
Tommy Pham: .310, 3 HR, 9 RBI
Manny Machado: .353, 7 HR, 25 RBI (League Leader)
Francisco Mejia: .359, 7 HR, 15 RBI
Josh Naylor: .379, 1 HR, 9 RBI
Duds:
Eric Hosmer: .189, 3 HR, 7 RBI
Brian Dozier: .214, 3 HR, 4 RBI
Bench Players are producing.
Juan Lagares is hitting .433 (30 ABs), Greg Garcia is hitting .320 (25 ABs) and Luis Torrens is hitting .315 (22 ABs)
Trent Grisham is back from the IL sending Taylor Trammell back to AA who was struggling and hitting .167 in his 10 game cup of coffee.
Pitching wise my rotation is kicking butt.
Chris Paddack is 3-0 with a 1.41 ERA
Dinelson Lamet is 2-1 with a 2.86 ERA
Garrett Richards is 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA
Mackenize Gore has yet to pitch after Lucchesi went to the IL
Zach Davies is 2-0 with a 2.63 ERA
As you can see my SP only have 1 loss so my bullpen has blown the other games.
Craig Stammen has an ERA of 6.43. Matt Strahm has an ERA of 5.00, Jose Castillo is sitting at 6.43. Pierce Johnson has been dominate with a 1.04 ERA although he does have one of the losses out of the pen. Drew Pomeranz has yet to allow a run in 5 innings of working with a 0.00 ERA. Andres Munoz is 0-2 with a 4.26 ERA. Emilio Pagan is 1-1 with an ERA of 2.79 and Kirby Yates is 1-0 with an ERA of 2.45. He also has 6 saves on the year.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Cardinals outright Stephen Piscotty
The reunion was short lived as the Cardinals have outrighted RF/1B Stephen Piscotty. The 34 year old was resigned in the offseason by the Cardinals to a one year deal, but with the log jam the Cardinals have in the outfield position, Piscotty was getting few at-bats this Spring and even less time in the field.
The Cardinals will wait to see if Piscotty clears waivers. If he does then they will grant him his outright release, but the hope is one of the other 29 clubs will place a claim.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

If you have 30 team control you set waivers to manual and just don’t claim anyone.

So according to Ridin, not all options will be fixed this weekend so then would you recommend just waiting for the roster this weekend and then doing 30 team control anyway?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
The 2025 A’s are 2-1 to start the new season. After giving up 12 runs on 9 home runs to the Twins in game 1, Game 2 saw thing flipped as we scored 12 to win 12-5, hitting 5 homes runs in the process. Game 3 saw a back and forth battle with the Twins hitting a game tying home run in the 9th off the best closer in the game. Only to lose in the bottom half with Matt Olson hitting a walkoff double.
