    2020 OFFSEASON for Cubs

Cubs went into the offseason looking for a .300+ AVG leadoff bat and a front of the rotation starter. Immediately Kluber/Justin Turner/Starling Marte were the players the Cubs targeted the most. They missed out on Kluber, and decided Turner as a better fir than Marte. This will shift Schwarber to Catcher where he has had little big league experience and Bryant to LF to accommodate Turner at 3B. The Cubs missed out on Kluber which was one of the only front of the rotation pitchers on the market this year. Cubs pumped up the bullpen, and will have a couple rookies break camp with the team in utility/bench roles.

16-hit Attack Leads Twins to Spring Win
Sano goes deep to lead hitters

SPRING TRAINING--- Miguel Sano drove in three runs, including a two-run homer, Max Kepler added three hits, and Twins pitchers limited 4 hits as the Minnesota Twins defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 9-2. The win is the first of the spring for the Twins.

Twins hitters were on point from the get-go as they put up a 5-run first inning off of Jays starter Ryan Borucki. Along with Sano and Kepler, Luis Arraez, Ehire Adrianza and Byron Buxton all contributed multi-hit games. Adrianza drove it three runs and now has four RBI’s early on this spring.

Jose Berrios gave up two unearned runs in his first two innings of work, as the Twins fielding woes continued. Berrios did have four strikeouts. Randy Dobnak also made his spring debut, extending out to three innings of shutout baseball. Trevor May, Zack Littell and Cory Gearrin also worked scoreless outings during the contest.

Game three of the spring will see the Twins heading out of town to face the Atlanta Braves. Newest Twin Kenta Maeda will be making his spring debut on the mound.

How can you guys play franchise with the stats all messed up? Are you keeping your own records? I’m hitting doubles off the wall and I’m not getting credit for hits lol man I can’t play a baseball game where stats are broken. That’s essential.

I guess I’ll just wait to start mine.

Jack Flaherty has best outing of the Spring

Jack Flaherty made his 3rd start this Spring and has his best outing striking out 8 batters and allowing zero hits through 5 innings of work. Flaherty did surrender 3 walks.

Flaherty who the Cardinals debated bringing back in the offseason, struggled his first two outings, but seemed to find his groove yesterday at Statesman Park against the Astros. His curveball was extremely effective as 5 of his 8 strikeouts were with the curve.

The Cardinals need Flaherty to bounce back from an injury filled and poor season last year. After signing his multiyear deal this offseason, he and Funkhouser are expected to be the two frontline starters for the Cardinals for the next several years to come.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

The Dodgers, led by their high powered offense, start the 2020 season strong sweeping the Giants by scores of 7-2, 9-6 and 4-3. 7 different Dodgers homered in the opening series giving the Dodgers faithful hopes of numerous souvenir opportunities this season. Clayton Kershaw was the lone Dodger starter to notch a win pitching 7 innings while striking out 6 in the season opener. Kenley Jansen appears to already be in midseason form picking up 2 saves in games 2 and 3, while only allowing 1 hit and striking out 4.

A scary moment in game 2 saw Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija take a line drive to head sending him to the IL for a projected 6 plus months with a head fracture. Before the injury Samardzija pitched 2 innings allowing 4 runs off of 4 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts.

A lazy Sunday off followed by hosting the Rockies (2-2, 1.5 GB) for 3 games will close out the March schedule. Projected pitching matchups for the series are:
            David Price v Kyle Freeland
            Alex Wood v German Marquez
            Kershaw (1-0, 1.29) v Jon Gray (1-0, 2.25)

Sitting at 28-14 with the Padres and in first place. LA is right behind me at 27-15. Just can’t get any separation. Tatis is leading the league at .423 avg with 14 home runs and 30 RBI’s. He’s in the triple crown conversation just needs more RBIs, which is hard to do from the lead off spot. I’m thinking of sliding him down to the 3 hole.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Guys, I have a couple of questions about 30 Team Control. This year I've finally decided to try using this feature in my Franchise.

I get all the setup and everything, just wanted to know this: when Spring Training ends and all the 40-man rosters are set, do you still have to keep Lineups/Rotations and 40-man control set to MANUAL for the CPU's controlled teams?

The other thing: what exactly are you guys doing for the other 29 teams that you're not playing with? I mean during the season, if there's an injury you manually set up a new rotation (or a new lineup), right? And you also control every call up / send down from and to AAA?

Last little thing, not big a deal anyway, is there any way to NOT have all those "emails" that pop up in the bottom of the screen for every single team?

I've never played this way, so sorry if those questions seems pretty silly. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I use 30 team control but I setup a profile for the cpu teams and set everything to auto. And let whatever happens happen.

As for the messages press the touchpad on controller in franchise mode and hit R1 and turn everything off for the cpu teams. You have to switch to each team to turn their notifications on or off

Understood, but if you do that what's the point of doing 30 Team Control? Just setting up 40-man, lineups and rotations before the season starts?

I've already started a Tigers franchise, and hoping to turn them around. But one other team that intrigues me is the Rangers. Been playing a few Play Now games with them and have been enjoying using them. I really like their lineup and their rotation isn't terrible either. I may start a franchise with them today also.

So I’ve thought about it for a little while, bounced between a few different teams but didn’t find another team this year that caught and held my interest. So, I’m starting fresh as my Yankees as usual. Taking a different and better approach to it this time though, gonna be much more realistic about it. Playing every game, and way less trades and big moves then I usually end up making. Already a strong team but that will keep it from getting way overpowered like last year’s franchise. So here it goes.
Put guys like Severino, Hicks, German, Sale, etc on the IL for real times.

The Spring has passed and Opening Day 2020 is here. The Yankees have announced their Opening Day Roster.

                            Lineup:
                            LeMahieu 2B
                            Judge RF
                            Andujar DH
                            Torres SS
                            Voit 1B
                            Urshela 3B
                            Sanchez C
                            Stanton LF
                            Gardner CF

With this group, you really can’t go wrong with any batting order. Stanton will likely hit much higher vs lefty’s.

                            Bench:
                            Mike Tauchman OF
                            Clint Frazier OF
                            Kyle Higashioka C
                            Tyler Wade IF and OF

For now the Yankees will keep both Tauchman and Frazier on roster, starting Mike Ford out at AAA. Frazier could be demoted if manager Aaron Boone can’t give him enough at bats but the plan is for Frazier to remain with the MLB club.

                            Rotation:
                            Gerrit Cole
                            James Paxton
                            Masahiro Tanaka
                            Jordan Montgomery
                            JA Happ

With Severino done for the year the Cole signing has become even more important, and left the 4 and 5 spots a bit shaky. Not much quality depth here, top prospect Deivi Garcia would be the next man up but the Yankees hope to let him continue developing in the minors another season. German will become an option when he finishes serving his suspension.

                            Bullpen:
                            Luis Cessa LRP
                            Chad Green
                            Zack Britton
                            Jonathan Holder
                            Tyler Lyons
                            Tommy Kahnle SU
                            Adam Ottavino SU
                            Aroldis Chapman CP

Now to open the season, the day many have been waiting for since the signing was announced, Gerrit Cole makes his Yankee debut facing John Means and the Orioles at Camden Yards. After a Friday day off the Yankees will play 2 more to close out their season opening series.

Did a Fantasy Draft with a ReBranded Montreal Expos squad (Tampa Bay Rays) once Ridin's rosters dropped. Figured I'd get my first look at the new game that way. Won 97 games in year one (mostly a sim), lost in the 1st Round of the playoffs.

Main FA signing was to bring in Marcell Ozuna (replaced Alex Gordon in RF), the rest of my offense was drafted. Bohm is replacing Evan Longoria at 3B. Skubal is coming up this year to replace JA Happ in the rotation.

With Ridin's rosters coming out a I started a second franchise re-branding the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Nashville Eagles. I have edited the Eagles to make them even worse to give me more of a challenge having a team that is not that good at all and having only a few good prospects.

Also re-branded Toronto as the new Montreal Expos and re-branded the Padres to the Seagulls.

I am going to try to play every game in the first season. I did sim most of Spring Training because I ran into the problem of the game freezing in Spring games like I did in my White Sox carry over franchise, other wise I would have played all the Spring games as well.

Came out of spring with this Opening Day Roster

                                Lineup
                                1. 2B Kevin Newman
                                2. SS Adam Frazier
                                3. CF Bryan Reynolds
                                4. 1B Josh Bell
                                5. 3B Colin Moran
                                6. RF Gregory Polanco
                                7. C Jacob Stallings
                                8. LF Jerrod Dyson
                                9. Pitchers spot

                                Bench
