You guys probably know me as the hitting is trash guy. So i started a Yankee chise and there is a COMPLETE lack of offense for both me n the cpu. I play every game on default HOF. Were 10-5 outscoring opponents i think 54-26. Were bottom 5 in hits, rbis, hrs, sbs etc lol. Last year i TORE UP in franchise this year there is NO power. Ive had power up 1 for me n the cpu but nada. Thinking of turning up timing up 1 too but with todays update ima see what happens. Having fun with it i guess but the lack of offense and power is really boring. I should manage in 2 occasions we scored 21 runs combined so if you take that away we REALLY have no offense. Not to mention Judge and Stanton CONSTANTLY get "okay" contact NO MATTER WHAT. Sounds unbelievable but its true.

I’m 18 games in and sit at 11-7. My offense is absolutely out of control but maybe it’s because I’ve been playing crappy teams to start the year. Obviously it’s just the first few weeks of the season but if I go to the awards page all three players listed on the NL MVP page are Cubs.
#1 is Schwarber hitting .444 with 9 home runs and 24 RBI.
#2 is Contreras hitting .422 with 7 home runs and 19 RBI
#3 is Happ Hutton .412 with 6 home runs and 17 RBI

CHARLOTTEMinersFRANCHISE
Inagural season recap
The Miners initial season went precisely as expected- ghastly in the W/L column, but aces at the draft. Finishing an MLB worst 51-111, the Miners had very limited bright spots.
PLAYERS: The Miners had 2 bright spots on the season: One, Tyler Wade had a breakout season hitting .286 at the plate, leading the NL in triples, plating well above average defense, and finishing the year at a clean 3.5 WAR. The second, Billy Burns, had a strong comeback year, leading the Miners in walks and posting a 2-WAR season in the outfield. Both players have clinched starting positions for next season.
DRAFT: Approaching the 2020 MLB draft, the Miners were informed that they would keep the Pirates draft selection slot, as a show of goodwill to the Miners. Meaning, the team would select 7th in all concurrent rounds.
Their selections were as followed:
7th Overall: David Mckinnon
Speedy center-fielder out of Vanderbilt. Hit 40 doubles and 15 triples for the Commodores, and led the team in stolen bases. Finished 3rd in the country for college MVP voting. Needs to work on arm strength from center or may be doomed to a corner or infield position.
42nd overall: Billy Ruiz
Devastating first basemen/DH type who lead D2 baseball in home runs by 17. Performs better against lefties than righties, but mashes both in general. Strong reaction times and arm strength but struggles with the glove often.
72nd overall: Hugh Jordan
High school hitter hit nearly .500 through his season. Has the raw talent and looks like a pro against boys sometimes but can not seem to keep the talent together for long stretches of time.
109th overall: Rafael Montalvo
Reliever with lights out stuff who projects to be MLB soon. Severe lack of stamina stops a potential spot in a starting role.
132nd overall: Matthew Watson
Vanderbilt lefty struggles with control at times but performed well despite the control issues. Has an MLB ready curveball.
164th overall: Brad Taylor
High school reliever set records in every possible stat for Kentucky highschools. Nasty 4-seamer/Changeup/Slider selection.
All in all, this draft has the potential to be a foundational draft, especially if Mckinnon and Jordan reach their respective peaks for the Miners.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Trade Deadline:
Acquired CF Jake Cave from the Twins for SP Alec Bettinger and RP Beau Burrows. Cave, who was buried in Minnesota, has an extremely good bat but struggles defensively at times in center. However, he has a strong arm which gives a nice compliment to Burns's lack of.
OFFSEASON:
In the early hours of November 22nd, the Miners announced Dusty Wathan, 3rd base coach for the Phillies, had been signed to be the teams first original manager. The Athletic reports the deal as a 4 year contract worth just north of 5 million a year. Dusty will be given complete control of the pitching staff and lineup. Welcome Dusty!
Your first Miners manager!
Exclusive Negotiations resulted in us resigning Scott Kazmir and Chase Headley. Chase Headley will likely be the opening day starter at 3rd and Scott Kazmir will be one name in what should be a heated rotation battle this spring.
In free agency, the Miners announced the signing of SP Matt Shoemaker and SP Anthony Desclafani to matching 1 year contracts. The Athletic reports the contracts to be valued at 4 million apiece. This adds some much needed competition to the Miners rotation as the departures of Ubaldo Jiminez and Edison Volquez left the Miners a bit thin at SP (relatively speaking)
Following that, the Miners took CF Alex McKenna in the rule 5 draft. Mckenna, 23, spent all of last season in double-A for the Corpus Christi Hooks. A gamble of a selection, McKenna has a strong contact bat with great defense in which the scouts of the Miners see potential.
Finally, the Miners announced a trade in the winter meetings- trading RF Ross Adolph and SS Adrian Valero to the Angels for CF Jordyn Adams (the b potential 64 overall one, much worse than the one in real life). The big deal about this trade? Jordyn Adams is a North Carolinan! The Miners had been reported to be targetting him at the deadline, but they only balked and gave up Adolph once they became desperate.
Next up will be opening day 2021, which will begin the game-centered updates.Comment

2020 OFFSEASON for Cubs
Cubs went into the offseason looking for a .300+ AVG leadoff bat and a front of the rotation starter. Immediately Kluber/Justin Turner/Starling Marte were the players the Cubs targeted the most. They missed out on Kluber, and decided Turner as a better fir than Marte. This will shift Schwarber to Catcher where he has had little big league experience and Bryant to LF to accommodate Turner at 3B. The Cubs missed out on Kluber which was one of the only front of the rotation pitchers on the market this year. Cubs pumped up the bullpen, and will have a couple rookies break camp with the team in utility/bench roles.

Go Cubs!
In May the Cubs finally pushed forward and showed the true potential of the talented team. The month of May saw the Cubs have a 14 game winning streak, and 18 of 19 in that stretch as well. The Cubs pitching staff has excelled thus far in the season being in the top 5 in almost all pitching categories. Justin Turner has been an amazing signing hitting .343 through the end of May. Rookie Gary Scruggs (Age 21) who the Cubs picked up from DET in the Almora trade has been a huge surprise, hitting .321 with 6HR and 17 RBI through May, in which he is not starting every day. The top 3 in the rotation (Urias, Hendricks, Darvis) all have Sub 3.50ERA’s and the 4 & 5 of Quintana and Tehrean have been serviceable and eating quality innings. The Bullpen has been dominant as well with Kimbrel, Morrow, A.Miller, and Nate Jones all pitching to sub 2.50ERA’s. Overall, the Cubs went 21-8 in may and are 38-22 at the conclusion of the month. Tied with the Cards atop the NL Central.Comment

Cardinals win 3 of 4 versus Reds
The Cardinals played their best baseball at home versus the Reds winning 3 games of the 4 game series.
The Cardinals (7-6) lost the series opener with Junior Fernandez once again getting roughed up in his start. Fernandez was only able to last 5 1/3 innings and surrendered 8 runs on 6 hits, 3 of those homeruns, and walked 5. The Cardinals offense was unable to do anything in this game.
The Cardinals would win the final 3 of the series behind strong pitching performances by Funkhouser, Wacha, and Martinez.
The Cardinals are now on their way to Boston for a 3 game weekend series with the Red Sox.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

MOOKIE!!!
In his New York Mets debut, Mookie Betts put on a show, going 4-for-6, with the last hit being a towering 2-run walk off home run that propelled the Mets past the San Diego Padres 7-6 in 11 innings on Opening Day 2021.
This game was crazy. Down 3-1 in the 8th, I went back-to-back-to-back with Conforto, Flores and Alonso to take a 5-3 lead, only for Familia to blow the save in the 9th.Currently Playing:

Dodgers (15-4) extend their win streak to 8 games sweeping the Cardinals (11-8) in 3 games by scores of 6-2, 13-5 and 10-2. Max Muncy feasted on the red birds pitching with 5 home runs and 12 RBIs during the series.
A four run 8th inning gave the Dodgers the 6-2 win in game 1 and earned Jimmy Nelson (1-0, 5.91) his first win of the season in relief. A Mookie Betts solo home run put the Dodgers ahead and the game was placed out of reach by a Gavin Lux 3 run shot to right.
Game 2 was won on the bat of Muncy who hit 4 home runs driving in 9 RBIs. Julio Urias (3-0, 1.25) earned the win.
The big bats continued for the Dodgers in game 3 as Muncy homered again driving in 3 and Mookie Betts hit a grand slam and doubled twice tallying 6 RBIs. David Price (2-2, 3.85) had his best outing of the season, pitching 6 innings and striking out 7 while only allowing 2 runs in the first inning.
The Pittsburgh Pirates (5-14) will visit Chavez Ravine for 3 games before the Dodgers get a day of rest. Projected pitching matchups are:
Alex Wood (2-0, 0.95) v Jameson Taillon (0-3, 9.19)
Clayton Kershaw (3-0, 1.61) v Joe Musgrove (0-3, 6.86)
Walker Buehler (1-1, 3.75) v Chris Archer (1-0, 3.52)
First baseman Matt Beaty, who is batting .059 on the season, was removed from the 40 Man Roster, placed on waivers and sent to AAA Oklahoma City. 29 year old first baseman Tyler White was was added to the 40 man and called up from OKC to fill the roster spot.
David Pollock and Will Smith’s solid performances has earned them the every day spot at left field and catcher respectively.

2021 Season Opener
Charlotte Miners VS Chicago Cubs
[3]-[2]
It was a nailbiter at SAS Park to open up the 2021 season for the Miners against the Cubs. Main Free Agent signing Anthony Desclafani got the call as the opening day starter and Stephen Fagalde, Scott Kazmir, and Arodys Vizcaino came in from the seventh through to the ninth to close the game out. Things started strong for Desclafani as he struck out Merrifield and Betts in order and getting Bryant to pop up out to Headley at 3rd. Desclafani would carry this energy to the 6th, giving up 6 hits and striking out 4 more until he ran into trouble against Krist Bryant. Bryant hit a double which scored Rizzo and Baez tying the game up at 2 directly after a Schebler 2-run bomb for the Miners. Showing fatigue, Desclafani was pulled for Kazmir. Things remained quiet until the 9th, where Jake Cave hit a solo bomb against Cubs reliever Tyler Olson which would inevitably be the game winning RBI.
Some notes:
-Tyler Wade while not showing up on the scoreboard had a strong night hitting a single, stealing 2 bases, and causing 2 double plays in the middle innings.
-This Cubs lineup is SCARY. The top of their order is Merrifield/Betts/Bryant/Schwarber, followed by Rizzo/Baez/Contereas/Gregorious.
----------------------------------------
Game 2
Charlotte Miners VS New York Mets
[4] - [9]
A beautiful day at Citi Field as Bowden Francis gets the call for the Miners. Francis, making his 9th start of the season has not necessarily impressed, but hasn't done poorly as he enters the game with a 4.68 ERA. The game starts off ice cold- as in nothing really interesting happens. A few singles here and there, but generally nothing happening. Then, in the 6th inning, the Mets took off. The Mets cycled the order, chased Francis, bringing out Jackson Stephen who proceeeded to give up 3 more runs capped off by an Amed Rosario double to end the inning, placing the score at the top of the 6th at 9-0. The Miners would battle back for 4 more runs off of Wade and Cave 2-run bombs, but the game was over past the 6th.
Game Notes:
-This game really highlighted how thin we are at starting pitching. We have 2 MLB starters, another player in Kazmir who could spot starts, but outside of that the pitching is the core bane of this team- which is why they have a 12-36 record.
-The poor pitching performance also potentially has impact on the MLB draft, which as of this game is a mere 14 days away. Starting pitchers Kris Giorgio, Eli Florival, and Rod Belanger are well considered to be the top 3 prospects for the upcoming draft, so it is something to keep an eye onLast edited by MountUrCastle; 03-29-2020, 02:43 PM.Comment

Started a Rays franchise with Ridins rosters. Simmed spring training and made a few additions to my farm system via free agency. All were lower level players with good potential. I did not sign any MLB ready players.
Game 1 I lost 3-1. I was being no hit until a solo HR by Willie Adames. That was my only hit of the game. I struck out 16 times, 12 by the Pirates starter Taillon. Morton only gave up 2 runs but still took the loss. Ugly offensive display.
Game 2 I went down 1-0 in the 2nd. I tied it up off a walk and then a double by Tsutsugo. In the 6th inking, I went hard twice to go up 4-1 (Keirmeier and Choi) and ended up winning 9-1 with another HR by Keirmeier and Meadows.
I play on default Legend Zone, Legend Classic and i suck at offense. Sitting at 1-1 isn’t too bad and Game 3 comes later tonight.

My Rays sit at 19-11 0.5 games up on the Yankees for first in the AL East.
I have the trade slider down to 1 ATM and just finished a 7-6 comeback victory over the Blue Jays when the trade alert popped up on my screen.
Looks like my AI GM sent Jose Martinez to the Angels for OF prospect Jordyn Adams (64 ovr, B POT). He was immediately assigned to AA Montgomery. To fill Martinez’s spot on the MLB roster, the AI GM called you Daniel Robertson. Robertson gives us positional flexibility, but not nearly the bat Martinez was providing us in his short stint here.
Overall, everyone is contributing to the cause...per usual it is very much a team effort and will continue to be so. Don’t think we will see Jordyn Adams at the big league level for a couple of seasons.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread
Cardinals swept by Red Sox at Fenway
The Cardinals were swept in a 3 game series in Boston, snapping their 3 game winning streak.
The Cardinals (7-9) had leads late in 2 of the 3 games only to watch the bullpen blow the lead and eventually the game. This is the same rhetoric the Cardinals were used to last year, with the bullpen being a focal point this offseason, but apparently nothing has changed.
But its not just the bullpen that is keeping the Cardinals from adding to the win column, as there offense has sputtered as well, primarily Paul DeJong, Brendan McKay, and newly acquired Anthony Rendon. These three who hit 2-3-4 in the lineup are hitting a combined .211 on the year which just cannot happen, especially in this part of the lineup. Brendan McKay has found his stroke a bit as he has climbed out of a 2 for 20 slump to start the year and hit safely in his last 5 games. DeJong went hitless in the series and Rendon only managed 2 hits, while leaving numerous runners on base.
Mike Matheny is beyond frustrated as expected, saying that they really felt the bullpen would be a strength this season, especially with the additional arm thanks to 26 man rosters, but unfortunately aside from Robby Scott and Zack Burdi, the bullpen is as inconsistent as it has ever been.
As for the offense, Matheny was quick to point that he expects the bats to come around and isn't opposed to lineup changes to see if they can't spark that turn around quicker.
Still...its frustrating at best that the bullpen, which many thought would be better, is once again the low spot for an organization that prides itself on strong pitching to help guide itself to championships.
Yes, the season is in its infancy, but we saw this all last year, and with that, its hard to believe that a turn around is guaranteed to happen, unless some roster changes are made.
The Cardinals will now make a West coast trip after a day off on Monday. The Cardinals will play 3 in Colorado and then 3 in San Diego before returning home to close out the month of April.
