I play with my own sliders and I like the results I get when playing games. But I believe I've got the trade slider turned down some, not all the way though.

      Oh Romero, Where Art Thou?
Twins drop game late to Blue Jays

      February 26, 2020
SPRING TRAINING--- Fernando Romero gave up five runs without giving up an out in the seventh inning, including a pinch-hit grand slam from Travis Shaw, as the Toronto Blue Jays picked up their first win of the spring beating the Twins 7-5

The Twins held a comfortable 5-2 lead through the middle part of the game as their pitching held the Jays to just 5 hits through six innings. Enter Romero, who was making his third appearance and looking to solidify one of the open spots in the Twins bullpen.

“Here is a guy with really, really good stuff,” commented Twins skipper Rocco Baldelli after the game. “You watch him in the bullpen and think to yourself, I am glad I don’t have to face him. But then he enters the game and his stuff just flattens out and becomes hittable. We got some work to do with this kid, I am not giving up on him.”

Jake Odorizzi made his first spring appearance, lasting two innings and giving up two runs. Randy Dobnak also worked two scoreless innings, while Tyler Clippard, Zack Littell, Cory Gearrin and Matt Wisler all put in one inning of work.

The Twins got a monster three-run homer from Nelson Cruz, his first, to give them the lead in the third. Miguel Sano also homered in the contest for his second of the spring. Other than that, the Twins could only muster two more hits as the Blue Jays pitchers looked sharp.

The Twins head back to Fort Myers to take on the Boston Red Sox on Friday for a 1:05 PM start. Homer Bailey (0-1, 4.50) will make his second start of the spring campaign.

Cardinals drop season series opener to Blue Jays

After winning on Opening Day, the Cardinals dropped the final two games of the series against the Blue Jays in Toronto.

Kyle Funkhouser was good in his start, as was Carlos Martinez, but Michael Wacha got beat up in his start giving up 3 homeruns and 8 runs in just 5 innings of work. Roberto Osuna blew his first save opportunity in the series finale on Sunday, as the Cardinals lost that game in 13 innings.

Offensively, Brendan McKay and Anthony Rendon are stuggling which is a bad combination for the 3 and 4 hitters in your lineup.

Next up the Cardinals travel to Cincinnati for a 3 game series against division rival Reds.

The Dodgers (12-4) sweep the the reigning World Series Champion Nationals (6-9) in 3 games by scores of 8-2, 3-2 and 4-0.

A power display was in affect in game 1 as Cory Seager, Cody Bellinger, David Pollock and Kike Hernández all homered, with Bellinger and Pollock driving in 3 runs apiece. David Price (1-2, 4.19) took advantage of the offensive production notching his first win of the season.

Game 2 ended on a throwing error in the bottom of the 10th by Ryan Zimmerman, allowing Joc Pederson to score from second. Pedro Baez (2-0, 0.00) earned the win after striking out the side in the top half of the 10th.

            Twins Stymie Red Sox
            Bailey impresses in four innings

            February 27, 2020
SPRING TRAINING--- Homer Bailey pitched four scoreless innings and Max Kepler drove in three runs as the Minnesota Twins edged the Boston Red Sox 4-2 on Friday afternoon.

Bailey allowed just two hits and struck out two as well in the four innings. Tyler Duffey and Sergio Romo also pitched one scoreless inning each, with Duffey striking out the side in the fifth. Cody Stashak worked two innings and allowed a run, while Dakota Chalmers earned the save working one inning and allowing one run.

Kepler’s RBI’s came on a single in the first and a two-run double in the third. Luis Arraez continued his torrid start with two more hits and scored three runs. Josh Donaldson also contributed an RBI.

The Twins will remain in Fort Myers as the Pittsburgh Pirates will come to town on Saturday night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM. Jose Berrios (1-0, 0.00) is expected to get the ball at the start.

Dang it feels good to have my carry over back!

As overpowered and crazy lopsided the league is, it would just feel so wrong to give up on it.

Drubbed the Orioles 10-2. SP Ron Gilmore went hitless for 7.1, but really started to tire in the 8th, and new call up Franco was able to pitch the rest of the 8th without allowing any blemish on Gilmore's ERA for the afternoon (in spite of an error).

Bryce Harper led the Blue Jays offence, going three for four and hitting two home runs on the day.

                Cardinals lose series to Reds

The Cardinals lost their 2nd straight series to open this season, this time to the Reds in Cincinnati.

Jack Flaherty got knocked around in Game 1 and Junior Fernandez was knocked around in Game 2. Thankfully Kyle Funkhouser was on the mound for the series finale and steadied the ship and got the win, although the bullpen nearly blew it.

Offensively we are playing well enough to win, but the same bugaboo we had last year is showing up early in the season, where we cannot get timely hits.

We are currently 2-4 on the year as we head home for the first time in 2025 to face the Brewers for 3.

BREAKING: Future of Pirates, Nutting unstable in eyes of MLB as investigations begin

March 1st, 2020. New York City, NY: As one scandal comes to a close for the MLB, it would appear a new one approaches the professional baseball league, as Rob Manfred addressed the media today to announce investigations into Bob Nutting and the Pittsburgh Pirates.

As a result of recently leaked financial documents showcasing widespread acts of fraud conducted by hundreds of millionaires and billionaires, the MLB had been informed that Nutting had been consistently misrepresenting total profits and payroll to line his pockets through what can only be described as a Ponzi scheme. Mr. Nutting was documented to have funneled over 300 million to his own accounts over the tenure of his 13-year primary ownership of the Pittsburgh franchise.

Manfred had stated that while "no disciplinary action had been decided upon yet" that "infractions of such nature are very severe and incur an extreme penalty to the person responsible." Sources at the Athletic, however, have reported that penalties of draft pick loss, loss of revenue sharing money, and restrictions from the international pool are all potential consequences, and that the league may even go as far as to strip ownership from Nutting.

Cardinals take 2 of 3 from Brewers for first series win of 2025

The Cardinals won bookend games, claiming their first series win of 2025.

Game 1 featured a dominant performance from Michael Wacha who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and striking out 6. LHP Robby Scott closed out the game pitching the final two innings striking out 5 of the 6 batters he faced for his first save of the season.

Offensively the Cardinals were led by Jo Adell who went 3 for 4 with a homerun and 3 RBI's as the Cardinals won the game 5-2.

Game 2 was a pitchers duel as Carlos Martinez gave up a solo homerun to Byron Buxton in the Top of the 1st and then Adam Cimber gave up a solo homerun to Buxton in the Top of the 9th, as the Cardinals lost 2-1. The Cardinals lone run was a RBI double by Juan Fabregas.

Game 3 was all about Jack Flaherty who pitched a complete game shutout allowing just 4 hits, 1 ER on a solo shot by Greg Bird, and fanned 10 while issuing zero walks. The Cardinals won 4-1 thanks to RBI singles by Brendan McKay, Anthony Rendon, Devon Snow, and Kolten Wong.

The Cardinals (4-5) will remain at home and start a 4 game series with the Reds that will start tomorrow. This weekend the Cardinals will hit the road again to visit historic Fenway Park as they begin a weekend 3 game series against the Red Sox.

BREAKING: Pirates owner ousted, franchise dissolves as MLB attempts to hit 2 birds with one stone

Pittsburgh, PA:It's a trivializing time to be a Pirates fan as we are now learning that due to the allegations placed against Bob Nutting, he will have to allow the franchise to be put under control by the MLB. Bob Nutting will transfer a majority share of the Pirates as well as branding rights to the MLB, allowing them to dissolve the franchise. Essentially, this makes it so the MLB has a newly allotted expansion team. The Pirates 40-man rostered players will be unleashed to the market to sign elsewhere or back with the former Pirates.

The MLB also plans to address the Rays situation and the hole left in the Pittsburgh market at the same time- by moving the Rays to Pittsburgh to presume the identity of the previously departed "Pirates" as the MLB now has an MLB caliber stadium open for business without needing to expand to a second city. The Pirates will then be sold to an aspiring owner who will move the team to their new city.

(this ends the unrealistic nature of this team writeup so far. i really wanted to do an expansion-type franchise to start of MLB20, so expect the next post to be the "expansion draft" which will be a redistribution of players with some rules )

Most likely they were unable to sign a licensing/likeness deal with him in time. Or he could be like Bill Belichick and refuse to allow his likeness to be used in the game.

                            INTRODUCING..........

                            The Charlotte Miners!

The Charlotte Miners are a result of the MLB's dissolution of the original Pirates. This pseudo-expansion team was purchased by James Goodnight, North Carolina billionaire, and owner of SAS Institute. The team will play in all-new SAS Park, a baseball park modeled after old Kauffman park.

HISTORY: The Charlotte Miners get their name from an integral part of Charlotte's history- the Carolina gold rush, the first to happen in America which is a large part of Charlotte's size today. Charlotte also has the reputation of a working mans town, so a working man name reflects such. The team also will share it's stadium with the Charlotte Knights, who were purchased in a separate move by Goodnight.

COLORS: The Miner's primary colors are Maroon and Gold. We went for a unique color scheme for the MLB level as well as color significance for the city. Maroon represents the brick of the city and urban lifestyle and is a slight nod to North Carolina's barbeque history. The gold represents the gold rush, obviously, but is also a nod to how the gold rush started in Charlotte- in 1802 a boy named Conrad Reed found the first nugget of gold in America one day while playing in Meadow Creek, which leads to the start of the gold rush.

STADIUM: In a further nod to Conrad Reed, the main entrance to the stadium has been dubbed as Reed Street, and the mainline of concessions is called Meadow Creek in honor to Charlotte's beginnings. The stadium also features capacity for 39,766 people, with ergonomic chairs designed for maximum comfort occupying each street.

TEAM: We will have more to say about the team when the expansion draft is complete. Stay tuned to see the future of North Carolina Baseball!

                              Expansion Draft Results

RULES: Teams can protect 32 players on their 40 man roster and upwards of 10 prospects. Prospects will be defined during this draft as anyone with 0.75 years worth of service time up to the expansion draft. There will be 2 rounds equating 60 picks for the Miners. As 60 picks is absurd to go in-depth on, I will simply tag an expansion draft player in the starting lineup with an asterisk.

I know you have said before but what sliders and settings do you use with your franchise?
