Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

I have played opening day finally after roster / lineup tweaks. We signed Tim Beckham to a 1 year deal to provide depth / right handed offence.

      Game 1 - Toronto 3, Boston 0.

The Blue Jays hammered three solo homers against the Red Sox on opening day out hitting Boston 10-3. Ryu was dominate in his debut striking out three. Rodriguez gave up 6 hits (2 runs) and 3 walks in the loss. Toronto lost Biggio in the first inning as he came up lame stealing his first base of the season. Here are the stats:

      SS Bichette 1-5
      2B Biggio 1-1, SB
      - Panik 2-3
      LF Gurriel Jr 0-4
      3B Guerrero Jr 0-3, BB
      DH Hernandez 2-4, HR (1), RBI, R
      CF Grichuk 1-4, HR (1), RBI, R
      1B Beckham 2-4, 2B
      C Jansen 0-3, BB
RF Drury 1-3, HR (1), RBI, R, BB

      Ryu (W) 6.2, 3 H, 2 BB, 0 ER, 9 K
      Dull (H) 0.1
      Bass (H)
      Giles (S), 2 BB, 2 K

      - Biggio will day to day with his hamstring strain. Looks like he will avoid a IL trip. A combo of Panik, Drury and Beckham will cover 2B while he’s recovering. All three looked sharp in game one.

Welp, the time has come. Joey Lucchesi heads to the 60 day IL with a broken hand. I looked into the AAA Roster and Cal Quantrill was 0-2 with a 5.67 ERA, Ronald Bolanos is also Struggling. Adrian Morejon isn't lighting the world on fire either. Welcome to the Show MacKenzie Gore!! Gore was 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in AA Amarillo.

Franchise, do you have the injury slider turned up at all or are you on default? In previous versions I found I had to max it out to get in game injuries but if you are getting injuries at default, that’s a promising sign.

They were injured in game and not while simming correct? I had to max it out for games played and then drop it back to default for simming the other games around the league and minors. You just made my night. Prior to last year, I did a wheel of injury 3 times an in game week to make injuries more realistic.

Myers and Grisham hurt in game, both sliding into bases. Lucchesi while simming

Thank you for answering my questions. I’ll leave injuries at default.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well this might finally be the end of my 2014 carry over. I carried over in the middle of a season, in the middle of a two day break for my majors team.

I'm currently trying to play a minor league game and have tried twice and had the game crash both times. I'm hoping it's just the game freaking out because it's trying to simulate all of the roster changes and if I just leave it for 20 minutes it will figure it out, but I wouldn't put money on that outcome.

I'm a lot less upset then I thought I would be. I always figured things would end like this. It was one heck of a run, playing the same franchise for 6 years. Honestly though, of all the years to do it, this one is pretty good. While I have a lot of emotional attachment to some of the players in my carry over, I've been craving a bit more of a challenge. My team was so overpowered it ceased to be a question of if I would win the world series but how I would keep it going year after year.

The thought of a fantasy draft fictional franchise tickles me a bit, and having to do a new franchise with today's Toronto Blue Jays is also an appealing prospect. I'll probably try both and see which one sticks.

I've got a few other save files to try, but assuming they don't work, I'll say: goodbye 2014 carry over. You were too beautiful for this world!

Does anyone know if team performance factors in to the computer offering/making trades? Doing a 2nd MTO and I wasn't able to get any of the guys I targeted in my first go around, so I'm wondering if maybe team performance has something to do with it cause most of the guys I wanted to target were on contenders.

To be clear on what I have read this morning, if you turn Waivers - OFF then are you able to send down prospects who are out of options due to the roster issues?

Looking for a NL team to start a franchise with. Want the team to challenge but not guaranteed a playoff birth. I’m not that hung up on minor leagues. Like a team with good power and a nice ballpark. NL centre likely the most competitive division so thinking either Cubs or Brewers. Thoughts??

I feel like the Padres are the go to team right now. Plus if you want a challenge you know that you are competing with LAD every year to win the division.

Interesting. But they finished 36 games behind the Dodgers last year so do they have a chance to make postseason? I want a challenge but is that too much of a challenge?
