It's been a rough year for Colorado. June 1st we were 24-34 and the rumbles of dissatisfaction within the Arenado camp had come to a breaking point. The least secret trade in the MLB was made.
    Braves trade
    3B Austin Riley
    CF Ender Inciarte
    CF Drew Waters
    SP Ian Anderson
    FOR
    Colorado Rockies
    3B Nolan Arenado
    stats at the trade
    .303 17 HR's .611 SLG .367 OBP

After that the bad luck continued....Austin Riley broke his leg a week before the All Star break. We signed Addison Russel and brought him in to play 3rd. Brendan Rodgers keeps bouncing from the Majors to AAA hitting .232 in what was supposed to be his first full season in the bigs
Trevor Story is hitting a lackluster .261 but with 13 HR's . We expect more from him if he's going to be the face of the franchise.
We have an on going battle in LF with David Dahl and Raimel Tapia fighting to be the everyday starter. Everything says Dahl should be running away with the position but Tapia is hitting .295 and typically leads off and excels when in the lineup.
Drew Waters the other gem from the Arenado trade has made his way up to the AAA Isotopes. Ian Anderson can't say the same as he has struggled to get on his feet with the Isotopes which is worrisome as we sold the fan base on Anderson and Waters coming up together next season to lead the team towards success. We are hitting the other side of the All star break tonight and given the fact we are 10 games under .500 looking move Charlie Blackmon for prospects. St Louis has been rumored to have interest in Blackmon for years now and he might be the final piece to push them towards the WS as they have a very strong team this season.
That is ironic! I am thinking ahead in my Braves carry-over franchise from 2019. As I am heading in to the last month of the season and no plans on going after 3B Donaldson in free agency in 2020. I wrote down in my notes for the 2020 free agency. Try to pry 3B Arenado for the Rox, but without giving up CF Inciarte. My package would include: POT A SP Allard, RP Al. Reyes & 3B Riley. If it doesn't stick I will roll with Riley at the "hott corner".

So essentially did the 3 for 1 and then added the 4th player and gave up a 29 yr old single A player in a seperate trade. Someone who would get released to make space on the roster anyways. It's the only work around. I always research possible trade scenarios before making moves as to try and keep it somewhat realistic. The Braves and Cardinals were a few of the different offers I saw through hot stove talk on Arenado and decided I liked the Braves offer the best so tried to emulate it the best I could.

Cardinals and Royals split 2 game series

The Cardinals and the Royals split their mini two game series in Kansas City during the mid-week.

The Royals won game 1 behind a strong performance from Blake Snell. Snell went 7 1/3 innings allowing 1 run on 5 hits and fanning 10. Snell got help from the offense that put up 8 runs in the game on 13 hits. The Cardinals got to Snell in the first when Rendon doubled home McKay but that was the only run the Cardinals would put on the board in an 8-1 loss.

Game 2 saw Kyle Funkhouser take the mound and be perfect thru 7 2/3 innings before Nick Pratto would break up the perfect game and no hitter with a solo homerun to right field. That would be the only run and hit that Funkhouser would give up thru 8 innings. He was lifted in the 9th due to pitch count and Adam Cimber closed out the game for a 5-1 Cardinals win.

The offense was powered by McKay who drove in 2 runs and Chris Taylor who drove in 3 on a 3 run homerun in the 5th.

The Cardinals are off on Thursday before they return to Busch Stadium to take on the lowly Philadelphia Phillies.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Finished my first season with the Padres. We went 112-50 and lost in the NLCS in game 7 to the Nationals who repeated as WS champs after beating the New York Yankees in the World Series.

Fernando Tatis was my star who hit .376 with 39 HR and 102 RBI. He won the batting title and the Hank Aaron Award.

The ROY was SP MacKenzie Gore who went 18-3 with a 2.91 ERA in 28 starts. He struck out 137 in 167 IP while walking 40.

Manny Machado bounced back in 2020 hitting .312 (career high) while hitting 37 HR (ties career high) with 114 RBI (career high). Manny also set career highs in OPS at .954 and SLG and .587 and OBP at .367.

It was a big offseason for the Padres where a lot of players were let go in order to make way for the infusion of youth and prospects, which some are skeptical of as the thinking is if you were so close to the world series, why throw it all away?

            Out:

SP - Garrett Richards - who went 17-6 with a 3.03 ERA with the Padres signed with the Nationals
SP - Zach Davies - signed with the Mariners after have been declined arbitration with the Padres after going 14-6 with a 3.14 ERA.

SP - Joey Lucchesi was traded to the Tigers after going 4-1 with a 2.12 ERA with the Padres in an injury shortened season.

CP - Kirby Yates - the 34 year old reliever signed with the Yankees in the off-season after collecting a league high 52 saves last year for the Padres and winning the Reliever of the Year honors.

C - Austin Hedges was declined arbitration and signed with the Angels after only appearing in 33 games last year for the Padres hitting .211.

1B - Eric Hosmer was dealt to the Tigers in the Joey Lucchesi deal. Hosmer hit .269 with 17 HR and 62 RBI last season for the Padres.

2B - Brian Dozier - The Padres opted to not bring back the 33 year old 2B who signed with the Diamondbacks after hitting .258 with 15 HR and 43 RBI in 318 AB spanning over 106 games.

2B - Jurickson Profar - The Padres wanted to bring back Profar but could not agree on terms after the 2B had a career year hitting .291 with 18 HR and 71 RBI. Profar signed a 7 mil a year contract with the Cubs.

OF - Wil Myers - Myers was shipped back to the Tampa Bay Rays after a season hitting .267 with 5 HR and 25 RBI. Wil was thrusted into a platoon role with Eric Hosmer and playtime was limited by the break out season by Josh Naylor.

            IN for the season:

2B: Jed Lowrie (signed)- Lowrie will look to fill the role of Jurickson Profar of starting 2B and backup infielder if he can hold off the young surging CJ Abrams who will make the transition from SS to 2B this season. Lowrie signed a 1 year deal with the club.

3B: Kody Hoese (Rule 5) - in a surprising pick up, the Padres were able to snag 3B Kody Hoese in the rule 5 draft. His playtime, if he makes the team, will be limited to protect the young prospect.

3B: Isaac Paredes (trade) - acquired via trade in the off-season and expected to the start the year in the minors.

SS: Lucius Fox (trade) - acquired via trade in the off-season. Expected to start the year in the minors.

CF: Daz Cameron (trade) - acquired via trade, will compete for the CF role this season.

            Positional battles:
The Padres decided not to bring back 3 of their starting rotation options from last year due to the young prospects with higher upside. Chris Paddack and MacKenzie Gore have the 1-2 spots locked up. The 3-5 spots will be decided between Luis Patino, Dinelson Lamet, Adrian Morejon, Cal Quantrill, and Michel Baez.

With the departure of Kirby Yates, Emilio Pagan will slide into the closer role for the Padres.

            Projected starting positional players

C: Francisco Mejia (.266, 21 HR, 65 RBI in 2020). Back up: Luis Torrens vs Luis Campusano
            1B: Josh Naylor (.290, 26 HR, 80 RBI in 2020)
2B: Jed Lowrie vs CJ Abrams
            3B: Manny Machado
            SS: Fernando Tatis JR
            LF: Tommy Pham
CF: Taylor Trammell vs Daz Cameron
RF: Trent Grisham (.265, 23 HR, 60 RBI in 2020).

            Projected pitchers:

            SP Chris Paddack
            SP MacKenzie Gore
            SP Dinelson Lamet
SP Cal Quantrill vs Adrian Morejon
            SP Luis Patino

            CP Emilio Pagan
            SU Andres Munoz
            SU Drew Pomeranz
MRP Jose Castillo vs Craig Stammen
MRP Pierce Johnson vs Trey Wingenter
            LRP Luis Perdomo
            LRP Matt Strahm

Candidates fighting for a bullpen spot:
            LHP Ian Clarkin
            RHP Javy Guerra
            RHP/INF Jake Cronenworth
            RHP Gerardo Reyes

              Next Up:
To start June we complete our West road trip with a 3 game stop in Seattle. Then after an off day we head home to NY to take on the rival Rays for 3 games. The draft is only 2 days away.

              News:
              Keep An Eye On Cincinnati
The Reds have been in a free fall lately dropping 8 of their last 10. They now sit at 24-25 leaving them 13.5 games behind the Cubs, and 11 games out of the WC race. There’s time for a turnaround but this month will be big for them. Why does it matter? If they end up sellers they have a big piece on an expiring deal that could be on the move. Trevor Bauer. Bauer holds a 2.82 ERA and 1.14 WHIP through 70.1 IP. He would be the obvious #1 arm on this seasons trade market.

              Injury News:
5/27 Rockies Nolan Arenado Tears Hamstring Out 1-2 Months
5/28 Cubs Wilson Contreras Tears Achilles Tendon, Season Over

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Manic Mets games 1 and 2 of a 4 game series vs. Marlins + August Preview:

Game 1: The Mets win 6-1. Cy Young leader Jacob deGrom pitched another gem (13-6) going 7 innings, 6 SO's with 5 hits and 0 ER. His ERA is currently at 2.40 and is on pace to win his 3rd consecutive Cy Young award. Rookie Sixto Sanchez (4-3) had a rough outing for the Marlins only going 2.2 innings and giving up 6 runs.

The Mets had a 3 run HR from Nico Goodrum, welcomed returnee Joc Pederson, and the MLB League leader in HR's Pete Alonso who hit his 50th HR of the year.

                --
It was the last day before the trade deadline and the Mets made some final moves to solidify their playoff push.

They acquired stud RP Ryan Pressley from the Astros for RP Joakim Soria, and farm players SP Damien Rolls (19, 72 overall, C potential) and RF Omar Cruz (AA, 26 yrs old, 61 overall, B potential).

And they traded away a struggling Lance Lynn to the Red Sox as well as 3B recent demotee Eduardo Nunez and 1B Darrick Garcia for SP Eduardo Rodriguez. While it was bittersweet, the move hoped to shake up the starting rotation to give some of the RP's some relief.

                --
Game 2: In a fantastic pitchers duel, the Mets held on 2-1. Noah Syndergaard (12-4) got the win going 5.2 innings with 1 ER and 4 hits given up. He had a high pitch count but still managed to get out of some rocky situations. His ERA now sits at 2.69. Nice.

Pablo Lopez (8-8) pitched great as well going 6 innings for 2 ER on 6 hits and 6 SO's, but it was not enough for the struggling Marlins bats. The 2 RBI's were off a 1st inning HR from Yoenis Cespedes and a single in the 4th from Urshela. Seth Lugo got the save (29) as newcomer Ryan Pressley and Dellin Betances helped as well.

                --
With only 1 month to go until contract extensions are up before the off-season, the Mets looked to solidify a surprisingly helpful vet.

They re-signed LF Yoenis Cespedes to a 2 year contract for 4.7 million a year. Yoenis is having a major bounce-back season hitting 310 with 26 HR's and 62 RBI's. While he was promised an everyday role, it will depend on how much he regresses next year if it becomes a platoon or even bench role down the line.
                --
The team morale overall looks solid, 11 ecstatic players, 11 happy players, 14 satisfied and 4 unhappy with 1 angry.

Corey Kluber is currently unhappy (88-85) bc of his contract being half of what he wanted as well as his team role as in the rotation instead of as an ace. It remains to be seen if the Mets will keep him after the season is over.

Gleber Torres is also unhappy for similar reasons (90-88) his team role is that of Everyday instead of Star, and his salary is not where he'd like it to be.

The only angry player is Gio Urshela (84-79) bc of his salary and average coaching, as well as a smart negativity over region. The Mets hope to boost his morale with some coaching moves in the off-season.
                ---
Stats: Heading into August, the Mets have 3 players in the top 10 in average. Cespedes (310), Rosario (305) and Alonso (304).

Pete Alonso is the leader for MVP with a 304 average, 50 Hr's and 117 RBI's.
Jacob deGrom is the leader for Cy Young at 13-6, with 2.40 ERA and 216 SO's.

                --
The Mets are now at 75-34 with the best record in the league ahead of the 71-41 Dodgers. They are 9.0 games ahead of the 2nd place Braves (who hold the current wild card lead) 2 more games with the Marlins @ home, followed by a 3 game road trip against the Rockies and a major 4 game series @ Dodgers before a day off. Big week ahead as we look forward to a battle between the two top NL teams.

                  Colorado Rockies 2020
Team update: The day after the trade deadline the Rockies continued the rebuild, moving Charlie Blackmon for former Rockies star, Dexter Fowler and reliever Ryan Helsley of St. Louis. St Louis hope Blackmon who is having an impressive year can keep it up and help St Louis continue to lead the division. Colorado gets much needed relief in the pen and although Fowlers contract isn't kind it's a bit cheaper and 2 years shorter than Blackmons 4 years that he still has on his 80 million dollar contract.
Overall the Rockies improved 6 games this season from last, going 77-85. 7 games back of the wildcard which was won by Philly and Cincinnati. Boston and Oakland took the AL spots.
It's better than I expected as I was moving players to restock the farm system with a few arms. Hoping to be fighting for the wildcard in 2021.

2020 Playoffs: Oakland beat Boston and went on to shock the Yankees in 5 games then made it to the World Series by beating the Angel's in 7. On the NL side Philly beat Cincy in the wildcard then lost to the Dodgers quickly. In a 7 game series the Braves defeated the Dodgers to play Oakland in the World Series which Atlanta won in 5. The Braves couldn't be stopped. Freddie Freeman, Ozuna,Acuna Jr. and Nolan Arenado lead the stacked offense to victory often.
World Series MVP: Marcell Ozuna hitting .474 and 2 HR's in the series
                  NL MVP: Eugwnio Suarez (Cincinnati)
                  AL MVP: J.D. Martinez (Boston)
NL Cy Young: Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers)
AL CY Young: Andrew Heaney (Angels)
NL ROY: Kwang Hyun Kim (St. Louis)
AL ROY: Yo****omo Tsutsugo (Tampa Bay)

                    March 26, 2020

Buccos spoil Rays home opener, win 4-2

Pirates drew the interleague matchup on opening day, defeating the Rays by a score of 4-2 in front of a less-than-capacity crowd of about 25,000 at the Trop. It was a mirror match of sorts, with former Pirate Charlie Morton toeing the bump for Tampa and former Ray Chris Archer taking the hill for Pittsburgh.

Archer would last just 4.1 with 1 run allowed, and some handy bullpen work would seal the win. New Pirate Robbie Erlin earned the opening day win with 1.1 IP in relief of Archer.

Ke’Bryan Hayes made his MLB debut in his one. He didn’t record a hit but in his first ever MLB at-bat he would get smoked in the elbow by a 95 mph Charlie Morton heater.

The Pirates offense was led by Gregory Polanco, who had a triple and drove in 2. Colin Moran would knock Morton out of the game in the 6th, throttling a hanging splitter 425 ft into the right field bleachers to put the Pirates up 3-1.

Keone Kela pitched a perfect 9th and struck out 2 to earn the save.

2 more at the Trop followed by a stop at Wrigley. After that the Pirates host the Reds for their home opener at PNC.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

A tough 3 game series for NL East Supremacy!

This was an excellent series of video game baseball. I was locked in and the CPU was locked in as well. Those Mets will not go away. I came in 0.5 game up on them for 1st.

Game 1: Braves SP Siroka(6-6) vs Matz(6-5). Mets jumped early top of the 1st 2-0 and they maintained the front-running lead. I stranded a god forbidden 15 runners. I had opportunity, after opportunity, but credit goes to the Mets pitcher's keeping us on the pond. They won 4-3!

Game 2:Braves SP Fried(15-4) vs. Vargas(6-5). We rode the lefty(Fried) arm to victory. A complete game, shutout. 9.0IP,4H,4BB & 4K. Offensively C Flowers 2 for 3, 2B & 2R HR and LF Duvall with a 411ft blast in the LF corner led the way to a 5-0 victory.

Game 3: SP Teheran(16-5) vs. DeGrom(14-2) leading candidate for NL CyYoung. The match-up didn't disappoint the 39,000 @Truist Park. I was leading 3-1 thru 7 inning's. We put 3ER up on DeGrom(7.0IP,5H,3ER,1BB & 6K, but in the top of the 8th they broke through against Teheran for 2 runs. He pitched 7.2IP,6H,3ER,0BB & 9K. I brought in one of my best bullpen arms Vizzy 0.82ERA & 0.62WHIP. Stats don't mean a thing: Alonso, Conforto & Cespedes all homer against him. We lost 5-4! A heart breaking, but fun as h^ll lost if there is a such thing.

We got 2, 3 game series vs. the Mets. The last series of the year! Will the division come down to that! Oh Boy! Yikes!

Getting ready to welcome in the Dodgers for a 3 game weekend series. We'll be facing the likes of Ryu, Kershaw and Buehler. They have the 2nd best record in the MLB (82-41) to the Astros who are 83-39.

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

If anyone is interested....I post my franchise progress in the thread for my slider set

After every game, I post a game recap, box score, info/notes, etc and will occasionally include a video highlight if something warrants it

I will also be posting a huge comprehensive update when I reach the half-way point of the season at game #81 that will incluse standings, stats for my team (Boston), league leaders, etc......Here is an example

TNK - Boston Red Sox Franchise
                        Game #49 of Season

Tampa Bay Rays (25-24) @ Boston Red Sox (29-19)
Pitching Matchup - Ryan Yarbrough vs Martin Perez

The game was scoreless until the top of the 4th when Yandy Diaz walked to start the inning and came in to score with two outs when Willy Adames sliced a liner over Chavis at 1st base and down the RF line but Adames would be gunned down trying to stretch it into a double when Pillar hit the cutoff man instead of throwing home and Chavis would fire to 2nd base to nail Adames and end the inning with Tampa Bay leading 1-0. Ryan Yarbrough was keeping the Red Sox hitters off balance but would leave a fastball up in the zone to Michael Chavis leading off the bottom of the 5th and Chavis crushed it 447 feet off the back wall in CF to tie the game 1-1. The Rays would catch a big break in the top of the 6th as Brandon Lowe worked a 9 pitch lead off walk on a pitch that Perez placed perfectly on the edge of the plate but the umpire somehow called it ball four. Austin Meadows was up next and hit what looked like a high routine fly ball down the RF line that kept carrying and curled itself just inside the Pesky pole for a 323 foot 2-run HR to give Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead. Ryan Brasier and Diego Castillo each took over on the mound in the 7th inning and through scoreless frames to send the game to the 8th inning with the Rays leading 3-1. Jose Alvarado retired the Sox in order in the bottom of the 8th and the game would move to the 9th inning with the Rays leading 3-1. Matt Barnes would set the Rays down in order in the top of the 9th and the Red Sox would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 3-1 with Rays closer Nick Anderson coming on to try and close it out. Anderson would strike out Devers to start the bottom of the 9th but Xander Bogaerts would reach base on a blooper into shallow RF to put a man on and bring the tying run to the plate in JD Martinez with 1 out. Martinez would go down swinging on a nasty curveball for the 2nd out. Michael Chavis singled to keep the game alive for Boston as they now had two men on with 2 outs and the red hot Mitch Moreland would be called on to pinch hit for Vazquez with the game on the line. Anderson threw a first pitch fastball and Moreland was ready for it as he swung and drove a high fly ball deep to right-centerfield that kept carrying toward the Red Sox bullpen as Kevin Kiermaier would get to the warning track and make a leaping attempt at the wall but the ball would come down just out of his reach for a 3-run walk off HR by Mitch Moreland to send Fenway Park into a frenzy and give the Red Sox a thrilling 4-3 victory....WHAT A GAME!!!!

HIGHLIGHT - Mitch Moreland hits a pinch hit 3-run walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th
                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kdLIS40yWNQ" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

                        * The Red Sox come from behind with some 9th inning magic for the 2nd game in a row as they trailed the Rays 3-1 entering the bottom of 9th and were down to their final out with one man on base against Rays closer Nick Anderson when Michael Chavis singled to keep the game alive. Mitch Moreland would pinch hit for Vazquez and Moreland was sitting first pitch fastball and hit a 3-run walk off HR that was just out of the reach of Kiermaier to give the Red Sox a 4-3 win

                        * The Red Sox improve to 30-19 with the dramatic win while the Rays fall to .500 at 25-25 ont he season

                        * Martin Perez pitched a decent game for Boston throwing 6.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 4 Ks.

                        * Ryan Yarbrough pitched 6 strong innings for Tampa Bay allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 2 walks and 7 Ks and was in line for the win before the blown save by Anderson

                        * Mitch Moreland was the hero for Boston hitting 3-run pinch hit walk off HR. Moreland has been incredible of late and is now hitting .276 with 11 HR & 31 RBI on the season

                        * Austin Meadows went 2 for 4 with a double, HR & 2 RBI for Tampa Bay

                        * Michael Chavis was 2 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI for Boston and is now hitting .245 with 9 HR & 28 RBI

                        * Xander Bogaerts went 1 for 4 to extend his hitting streak to 8 games

                        * The Red Sox sent P Brian Johnson down to AAA Pawtucket earlier in the day and called up RP Trevor Hildenberger from Pawtucket to take Johnson's spot in the bullpen. Johnson had been ineffective and was seldomly used out of the pen while Hildenberger was pitching well at AAA after coming over from Minnesota as a free agent this past off-season

                        * The Red Sox and Rays will be back in action tomorrow as Boston sends Collin McHugh to the mound against Charlie Morton for Tampa Bay.

                          PITTSBURGH PIRATES FRANCHISE

                          April 2, 2020

Pirates are off to a nice start, winning the first two series of the year to wrap up a 4-2 road trip. The team felt good coming home for the opener at PNC Park and boy were the fans treated to some offense! Unfortunately it wasn’t from the Pirates, as the Buccos were absolutely demolished by the Reds with a 15-4 score. Still, I’d have signed this team up for a 4-3 start. Just hope we can give the fans something to cheer for this year.

Some notes on the team so far:
                          - Josh Bell has hit 4 homers already.

                          - Ke’Bryan Hayes hit his first major league homer off Tyler Chatwood at Wrigley.

                          - The starting pitching has been shaky, and as a result the bullpen has been taxed very heavily early on. Something I’ll have to keep a close eye on.

Michael Feliz and Dovydas Neverauskas both successfully cleared optional waivers and have been assigned to AAA Indianapolis.

The Pirates claimed RHP Lucas Sims off waivers from Cincinnati. I’m happy about this one. Sims was a first round pick by the Braves in 2012 and still has considerable upside. He hasn’t put it together in the majors yet, amassing a 5.49 ERA over 116.1 IP. He’s been a starter coming up through the minors, but the Reds converted him to the ‘pen full-time before ultimately deciding they didn’t have room for him. He’s still just 25 and our scouts tell me he has the makings of a late-inning reliever if he can iron out his command issues. He’ll take over long-man duties for us for now, as LHP Sam Howard has been optioned to AAA leaving Robbie Erlin as our only lefty.

The Pirates also acquired LHP Hunter Schryver from the White Sox for cash considerations. Schryver is a Pennsylvania native who posted a 2.77 ERA in 48 innings in AA last season. He’s assigned to AA Altoona but is nearly major league-ready and could figure in our bullpen picture at some point this season.

We’ve also released LHP Williams Jerez from his minor league contract.

2 more against the Reds before the Pirates welcome the Cubs to town for a 4 game set.

After a sweep of the Mariners moving us to 44-19, draft day was here.
In game 3 vs Seattle Tanaka joined the 1000 Career Strikeout Club, nice moment for him.

                            Yankees 2020 Draft Class

SP Mohammed Zuniga age 22, B potential
Zuniga features a mid 90’s fastball and a low to mid 90’s cutter as his top pitched. He also has a slider, curveball, and a changeup. He has great break on his pitches. He’s not a guy who will be working his through the minors slowly as his ETA is mid to late 2021. The Yankees will likely give him a full year in the minors but some scouts say he may not need it.

                            2B Antonio Cortes age 18, B potential
Cortes already has a quality glove and is an ok contact hitter. Not good yet but ok. He already has a reputation for being able to handle pressure and succeed in key game situations. His arm could use some work though, but he might be able to get away with it at 2B. The biggest concern with him....durability. We don’t need the cheap IF version of Jacoby Ellsbury on our hands. The good thing is he’s only 18 so he has plenty of time to improve.

SP Carlos Avila age 21 C potential
Avila is another arm that should be MLB ready quick, the question is how effective he’ll be and if he will stick as a starter with only a 3 pitch mix of a fastball, a changeup, and a slider. Looks like he’ll have to pitch smart, as he’s not going to be overpowering guys with high 90’s fastballs or dominating hitters with filthy breaking stuff.

SP Tawn Beckman age 20, B potential
The 5’10” right hander from Texas features a fastball, slider, curveball, changeup, and 2 seam fastball. He has the potential to be a workhorse starter, going deep into games won’t be an issue for him and he can handle a heavy workload without being an injury risk. There are some concerns about him getting rattled at times. He’s probably a few years away from the Majors.

CF Johnny Hough age 22 C potential
Hough was one of the last picks in the draft. He’s an ok context hitter with decent plat discipline and vision already. Quality glove. His arm needs some real work. And his reaction is not very good. Luckily he’s pretty fast so his agility will help mask his poor reaction to balls off the bat a bit. There’s a good chance he never improves enough to see the Show full time, but we’ll see.

                            Next up:
We return to the Bronx to take on the 35-29 Rays for 3 games. We now lead the East by 8.5 games over 2nd Toronto.

                            News:
Red Sox Win 2020 MLB Draft
This Red Sox draft class is scary. With their 1st pick they took SP Kevin Stevens, an 18 year old with A potential and he’s pretty advanced as a pitcher for his age. He could be a beast if he reaches his ceiling and might not take long to emerge from the minors. Next, they took SP Jacob Landrum 20 years old High B potential. Then they took SP Archie Crowe age 19 B potential. Solid pick. Then, SP Daniel Irabu age 22 B potential. And then the steal of the draft.. Angel Feliz age 21 High B potential with their final pick. Obviously there’s no guarantees any of these guys will pan out, but all these talented young arms joining Boston should make their rivals a bit nervous.

That’s just insane to me. Might be the best draft I’ve ever seen in The Show.
I’m jealous of the CPU now

Manic Mets Franchise vs. Marlins games 3 and 4:

Game 3: The Mets won a blowout 6-0 against the struggling Marlins. Pete Alonso hit a 3 run HR, his 51st of the season in the 3rd and Gio Urshela hit a 2 run HR in the 2nd.

Corey Kluber (11-2) went 6 innings for 3 hits and 0 ER. He continues to make a strong case to return to the Mets next season in contract negotations. Arodys Vizacaino (3) got the save going 3 innings with 3 SO and only 1 hit given up.

Jordan Yamamoto (4-12) only went 4 innings giving up 5 runs.

Game 4: Despite only 4 hits compared to the Marlins 8, the Mets won a close one 3-2 to complete the 4 game sweep. It was all thanks to a Michael Conforto 3 run HR in the 3rd and also had a double in the 8th. It was Conforto's 34th HR of the year. Despite 2 early runs from the Marlins in the 1st and 2nd, the bats went cold afterwards and they could never be clutch enough to get it done later on.

Thanks to a combined effort of Gallegos, Diaz and Betances as well as Seth Lugo's 30th save, the Mets bullpen looks super strong as we go into August. The plan seems to be to let the Mets pitchers go at max 5 innings unless they are pitching remarkably well.

Andrew Heaney (11-3) went 5 innings of giving up 2 ER's with 4 SO's and 6 hits given up. Elieser Hernandez (2-3) took the loss.

                              ----
The Mets retained some of their star studded team, giving 33 year old Yoenis Cespeds (82 rating) a 2 year deal worth 4.7 million a year. Despite the regression, Cespedes is hitting .303 (2nd overall on the team) with 26 HR's and 62 RBI's and has moved up in the lineup to 2nd.

The Mets also retained starting catcher Wilson Ramos (84 overall, 32 yrs old) to a 2 year deal for 6.6 million a year. Ramos is hitting .290 with 9 HR's and 48 RBI's and has proven to be a steady, consistent contributor offensively.

They have also decided to keep backup 1B Matt Adams (31 yrs old, 75 overall) for another year for 2.3 million. Adams in only 54 AB's is hitting .259 with 7 HR's and 10 RBI's. With his depth in both the LF and 1B, the Mets liked his veteran leadership and ecstatic morale boosts to the team chemistry.

                              ---
After a 4 game sweep of the Marlins, the Mets are sailing at 77-34. The Braves lost 3 in a row to put them 10.5 games behind the Mets for the division. They also remain 6 games up of the 2nd NL leading Dodgers for the best record in baseball.

Up next is a 3 game series against the Rockies away, followed by a 4 game series @ the Dodgers. This is their 7th game in a row so hopefully fatigue doesn't play too big a factor in the Colorado series. They look to newcomer SP Eduardo Rodriguez (7-7) against Antonio Senzatela (5-9) in the opening game.

                                Colorado Rockies 2020/2021 offseason

David Dahl went to arbitration....Offered 3 years at 10 mil. Arbitration was for 2.8 mil, the arbitrators sided with Dahl who is now making 3.9 mil for the season.... We went into our first offseason looking to shore up our pitching and the outfield. I believe we were successful. This season will be about fighting for the wild card and getting Trevor Story signed to a long term deal, he wants roughly 30 mil a year over 5 years. David Dahl also needs a new contract as his arbitration threw a wrench in our plan.
