Cardinals sweep Diamondbacks...Win Streak at 14

The Cardinals (42-26) swept the Diamondbacks in Arizona to extend their winning streak to a shocking 14 straight games.

The Cardinals continue to figure out ways to win games whether they outscore their opponent when the pitching is off, or the pitching staff shuts down the opposing bats when their offense is struggling. And then there are games where they are just clicking in all facets of the game.

The Cardinals will now head to LA to face the Dodgers for a 3 game weekend series.

Unfortunately it came to an end in the game I just finished. Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw just shut me down 6-2.

Flaherty blew up in the bottom of the 7th giving up 5 runs, and they tacked on one more in 8th off Robby Scott.

We scored once in 9th but that was a solo homer by Fabegras.

Kershaw went strong 8 innings giving up 3 hits and striking out 12.

Time to start a new one [emoji4]

Can anyone help me figure out how to unlock quick manage in a 2 player franchise mode game? Never had an issue in any of the previous version but this years game has quick manage locked once you start the game. My Buddy and I will use it to skip a game if it becomes a blow out while still being able to control who pitches, now I can only sim and exit . Please help

Re: MLB The Show 20 Franchise Discussion Thread

Just finished the first half of the season, sitting in first place with a half game lead over LA who just lost after winning 17 straight!

            NL West:
            San Diego 66-31
            LA 65-31
            AZ 52-44
            COL 45-51
            SF 29-66

Fernando Tatis JR is the leading hitter in both the NL and the MLB hitting .385 with 25 HR and 63 RBI from the leadoff spot (with occasional moving down to the 3 hole when Machado gets a day off).

            My All-Stars are:
SP Chris Paddack (13-2) with a 2.87 ERA
RP Kirby Yates (2-3) with a 3.13 ERA and 30 Saves
SS Fernando Tatis .385, 25 HR, 63 RBI
            3B Manny Machado .315, 21 HR, 64 RBI

C Francisco Mejia was snubbed, he was the starting ASG C all season but now for some reason was left out of the ASG while hitting .302 with 17 HR and 48 RBI. Kurt Suzuki is all of a sudden in the ASG hitting .270 with 15 HR and 56 RBI.

Tommy Pham ended the first half on the IL but luckily there is a long lay off which hopefully he will return once over.

MacKenzie Gore finished his first half sitting at 9-3 with a 3.03 ERA while filling in for Joey Lucchesi while he was on the 60 day IL. Joey has returned but was optioned to AAA El Paso where he is currently 2-0 with a 0.66 ERA.

My biggest surprises have been Mejia (stats above) and Trent Grisham, who is hitting .284 with 14 HR and 34 RBI while rotating between CF and RF. Josh Naylor started the season real hot however cooled down towards the end but still hit .263 with 15 HR and 43 RBI in the first half. Eric Hosmer however is trending upwards and started very poor but ended hitting .248 with 8 HR and 41 RBI. The numbers don't seem great, but from where he started he ended on a tear. I have him in a very expensive platoon at 1B with Wil Myers, who spent the majority of the season on the 60 day IL and hitting a disappointing .267 with 1 HR and 7 RBI.

Jurickson Profar has been another surprise, finally living up to his potential hitting .297 with 11 HR and 35 RBI.

Most surprising pitcher has been Luis Perdomo. In 18.2 innings in relief (called up mid first half season) he has posted a 0.48 ERA with 15Ks and a 0.64 WHIP. Perdomo has only allowed 11 hits and 1 run and posting 15Ks vs 1 Walk. If he keeps it up his role will be greatly expanded in the second half.

The 7-8-9 combo of Munoz, Pagan, and Yates are fulfilling their roles as expected. Munoz has 1.82 ERA in 39.2 innings with 38Ks and a 4-2 record. Pagan has a 1.94 ERA in 41.2 IP with 51K's. Kirby Yates was hit hard early but ended the first half as an All-Star and a 3.13 ERA with 55Ks in 37.1 IP and a 0.83 WHIP. Yates sits 1 save behind the NL leader of Will Smith who has 31 Saves.

Cardinals lose 2 of 3 to Dodgers

The Cardinals win streak was snapped at 14 games in the opening game of the series against the Dodgers in Los Angeles.

The Dodgers took the first two games of the series, but thankfully the Cardinals were able to salvage the series finale on Sunday to avoid the sweep.

The Cardinals offense was just quiet the first two games, and aside from a 7 run explosion in the 2nd inning of the series finale, the bats were quiet in game 3 as well.

The Cardinals will be off on Monday before hosting the Rays for a quick 2 game mid week series.

Still default legend, zone, meter? And, WHICH batting camera are you using?

                Thanks in advance 😉

Twins Bats Unconscious in Beating of Sox
23 hits lead to 19 runs in win

                    April 11, 2020
Chicago--- The Twins put up eight runs in the first inning, and hit nine homeruns total as a team, as they disposed of the White Sox 19-1 in front of an awe struck Chicago crowd on Saturday afternoon.

Minnesota started off the day with a Max Kepler double, followed by back-to-back-to back-to-back homeruns by Jorge Polanco, Josh Donaldson, Nelson Cruz and Eddie Rosario for a quick early 5-0 lead. Byron Buxton would then hit a 3-run homerun later in the inning to make it 8-0 after just a half inning of baseball.

Chicago starter Reynaldo Lopez (1-2) only lasted one-third of an innings, allowing six hits and seven of the runs.

The Twins would continue to tack on runs against the Sox bullpen, scoring one in the second and fourth innings, six more in the fifth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh. Jake Cave and Ehire Adrianza, who both came into the game as replacements, were the only two Twins not to record a hit. Buxton led the way going 4-for-5 with two homeruns and five RBI. Polanco, Donaldson, Rosario and Luis Arraez all contributed three hits in the beatdown. Donaldson and Rosario also homered twice.

Jhoulys Chacin (2-0) was the benefactor of all the offense. He went a very solid eight innings, allowing nine hits and the lone White Sox run. He walked one and struck out three.

Chicago will try to bounce against their division rival on Sunday afternoon, and try to salvage game three of the series. Minnesota will send ace Jose Berrios (0-1, 2.89) to the bump, while Chicago will counter with flamethrower Michael Kopech (2-0, 1.46). First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM.

                      MLB 20 Yankees Franchise

                      March 22, 2020

We are in the last week of Spring Training now. Starting pitchers are now given the chance to air it out up to 6 innings or 100 pitches for their final Spring Training starts. Starting position players will be allowed to play a full 9 on consecutive days and accumulate some fatigue in preparation for the season. A few bench guys are getting starts or late-game at bats on a discretionary basis while the team sorts out final bench spots. Relievers will be allowed to pitch on consecutive days. The last 5 games are more or less our “dress rehearsal” for the regular season.

The team formally announces that Jonathan Loaisiga has been named the 5th starter. Loaisiga pitched in 19 games for the team in 2019, including 4 in the postseason. With Paxton and Severino on the IL and Domingo German suspended, the door is open for Loaisiga to fulfill the potential he has teased in his brief time in the majors.

Loaisiga beat out prospect Michael King, who pitched to a respectable 3.46 ERA in 13 innings this Spring but also struggled with his command (10 walks). King remains with the team as final bullpen roles are sorted out, but is expected to be optioned to AAA Scranton prior to Opening Day.

Gerrit Cole wraps his last Spring Start against the Marlins at home, allowing 2 ER over 6 IP with 8 K. His next start will be the season opener in Baltimore.

Cardinals complete mini sweep of Rays

The Cardinals have completed a 2 game mini sweep of the Rays in St.Louis.

The Cardinals (45-28) have now won three games in a row, after having their 14 game winning streak snapped by the Dodgers in Los Angeles. The Cards now lead the NL Central Division by 6 games over the struggling Brewers.

Both games were nail biters as the Cardinals would win a pair of 1 run games.

There series opener saw the Rays jump out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning as once again Michael Wacha struggled at the start of the game, but did settle down to go 6 innings allowing only 2 runs on 2 hits and striking out 5. He did however walk 4. He earned a no decision.

The Cardinals would score single runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and then in the bottom of the 8th on a Harrison Bader solo homerun that would prove to be the game winner, as the Cardinals would win 3-2.

Game 2 saw the Cardinals jump out early with 2 runs in the 2nd thanks to RBI's by Jo Adell and Kolten Wong. The Rays would answer back in the top of the 4th on a Manny Margot inside the park homerun when Harrison Bader got caught in no mans land on a sinking line drive that bounced passed him and all the way to the center field wall. But the Cardinals would get 2 more in the bottom of the 5th thanks to Anthony Rendon's 2 run double. The Rays would add one in the 8th and one in the 9th, but couldn't get that tying run across the plate as Robby Scott earned his 4th save of the season preserving the Cards 4-3 win.

The Cardinals are off on Thursday, but will welcome the Baltimore Orioles to town for a 3 game weekend series. Former Cardinal Patrick Wisdom will return to St.Louis after spurning the Cardinals to join the Orioles this past offseason.

                          Jo Adell continues to struggle

The Cardinals considered actually moving away from Jo Adell in the offseason after his struggles in 2024. But they stuck with the 26 year old passing it off as a down year and expecting him to rebound this year.

Well things started out great as Adell had a good spring and the first part of the season he was one of the best hitters in the National League flirting with a .300+ average up until about mid-May. And then the wheels came off....again.

Since Mother's Day, Jo Adell has seen his average drop from .302 on that day, to now .239 on June 23rd. He's striking out at a high rate again and his walks have dropped, something that was reversed at the start of the year.

Mike Matheny has given him multiple days off to try to see if that doesn't help fix whatever issue Adell has developed. Sending him to Memphis to work things out isn't an option, as Adell is out of options and will not pass thru waivers unclaimed.

So what do the Cardinals do? Do they continue to stick with the young man in hopes that things turn around and he once again is a feared hitter in the lineup? He has 13 homeruns and 41 RBI's this year, but like his batting average those numbers haven't really increased since Mother's Day.

Is it possible the Cardinals look to move Adell with the talent they have waiting just behind him? (Dylan Carlson, Eddie Ortiz, Jose Adolis Garcia, Connor Capel)

Right now, it seems the Cardinals will be content to ride out this month long slump and hope that he finds his swing soon. If Adell can find that offensive prowess then the Cardinals will be a tough team to beat and keep out of the playoffs for a second consecutive year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Question cb - your ‘chise is a multi-year carryover, how does Manuel Margot end up on the Rays? Just a coincidence That he ended up on the same team he was traded to IRL? Do you manually adjust anything to match real life transactions? Just curious

He was signed by the Rays as a free agent in the year 2023, which would be 8 years into my franchise (carryover from '16)

No I don't adjust anything but its funny because in my franchise Manny Machado signed with the Padres (2019) and Bryce Harper signed with the Phillies (2018) before they did in real life.

I like to think the GM's look at my franchise and try to match what I'm doing...
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Good stuff. Any oddities on your rosters? I remember from my MLB 18 franchise which would have accounted for Harper’s impending free agency bonanza ... he ended up signing his big mega-deal with the Rays. Which I don’t think would ever happen.
