I think the biggest oddity when comparing my virtual franchise world to that of the real world is that the Marlins are one of the best teams in baseball. They currently have Austin Hays (who won batting title for Orioles in my franchise), Giancarlo Stanton, Ronald Acuna Jr, Rafael Devers, Nick Castellanos, and Connor Scott on their roster. They are scary good.

Some other noteworthy players on different teams:

Carlos Correa is on the Twins
Alex Bregmann is on the Cubs
Nolan Arrenado is on the Mets
Madison Bumgarner is on the Tigers
Yoan Moncada is on the Angels
Javier Baez is on the Rangers
Trevor Story is on the Nationals
Francisco Lindor is on the Giants
Freddie Freeman is on the Giants
Kris Bryant is on the Giants
Fernando Tatis Jr is on the Red Sox
Nick Senzel is on the Blue Jays
Mike Trout is on the Indians
MacKenzie Gore is on the Tigers
Ozzie Albies is on the Tigers
Matt Chapman is on the Royals
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Minnesota Twins @ Los Angeles Angels
      Series Result: Twins lead 2-1

Game 1 was a full display of terrible pitching on both teams. Odorizzi was on the mound today and he gave up 2 early HRs from La Stella and Castro. By the end of the 3rd, it was 4-0. But things got rolling for us in the 4th, with a 3 run center field bomba by Miguel Sanó. It was a high slider that was quite beautiful. Cruz added his 11th HR of the year in the 6th, tying the game at 4-4. Odorizzi lasted 6 innings, allowing 10 hits. Top of the 8th is when the game was blown wide open as the Twins scored 5 runs with 9 men coming to the plate. Duffey and Clippard each gave a scoreless inning, with Duffey getting the win. Though it was Sergio Romo who almost gave the game away, as he gave up 4 runs off 2 HRs to Trout and Castro. Luckily, Rogers came in for 1/3 inning to notch a save. The other two games were just as intense. Maeda gave a tough 5 innings, but unfortunately ended up with a loss, allowing just 2 runs. The Twins were held scoreless. Game 3 was a back and forth slugfest. Arraez led off the game with his first HR of the year on the 2nd pitch. Rich Hill was on the mound, having some location issues as he gave up 4 solo HRs in his 7 innings of work. We were definitely hit around this series. But clutch performances by Garver, Buxton, and Arraez got us the victory and Rogers notched his 9th save of the season.

Note: Forgot to add Players of the Month in my last post, so I’ll just add it in this one.

      AL Players of the Month:

      Pitcher: SP Jordan Montgomery (NYY)
      Line: 4-0, GP 5, ERA 1.59, 35 Ks

      Position: LF J.D. Martinez (BOS)
      Line: 106 ABs, .368 AVG, 11 HR, 25 RBIs

      Rookie: 2B Ramon Urias (BAL)
      95 ABs, .274 AVG, 5 HR, 12 RBIs

      NL Players of the Month:

      Line: 10 Saves, 11 GP, .87 ERA, 14 Ks

      Rookie: 2B Zach McKinstry (LAD)
      Line: 77 ABs, .221 AVG, 1 HR, 5 RBIs

We go back home to face the abysmal San Francisco Giants, who sit 5th in the NLW at 10-24. We are currently 12-4 at home.

I've officially hit the skids. I've dropped four of my last six games and I have given up tons of hits. Can't get anyone out and playing from behind constantly. Bats have also gone cold, at least compared to April.

Going to implement suspensions again. I guess I never really stopped doing it but I always forget to hurt whoever the player is when the time comes since I set them before the season starts. For this season there are 3 mlb players and 3 MiLB players. For MLB its the Mariners, Cubs and unfortunately the Royals. The Mariners 25th player is supposed to be suspended on April 10th. Cubs 25th player on June 26th and our 16th player on May 28th. As of right now, that would be Eric Skoglund. We will see if I remember to do it.

We open up the season with a 4 game series on the road against the Angels. The defending World Series champs. We then head to Oakland for a 3 game series. We battle the Angels again starting April 1st for our Home Opener. Daniel Lynch gets the opening day nod after his strong September last year.

How are you doing suspensions? Random? Also, wasn’t Skoglund already suspended once in real life?

Any of you guys ever dabble in some of the websites where you can create your own team site? I used to be heavily involved in Dynasty Manager and Dynasty Nation and I have to say, I honestly miss doing those. I post updates on here and love working with photoshop and writing but the stories just aren't the same when they're used in forum posts.

I'm considering a site like Active Sports (I think) where you can basically make your own website and running my Cubs franchise on it. I love the ability to keep stories archived, have a roster, etc. that's easily accessed. It may not pan out, but I'm going to look into it.

I’ve never done this but I’m interested. Can’t we do that here to some capacity? I see “dynasties” on OS but I don’t follow them as well as I do the posts in this forum.

I’ve dabbled with OOTP in the past and I loved the depth of the rosters and historical stats. Ultimately couldn’t give up the gameplay experience that the show provides though. If there is a way I could simulate that somehow I’d love it.

Dynasty Manager and Dynasty Nation were the closest things. Those were basically sports websites we could make to run our franchise. I'm looking into Wix, I've always kind of wanted to learn it and mess around with it anyway, I'm going to give it a go.

Yeah, it's random. I have an excel sheet to give me between 0 and 6 teams each year with 3 to 4 having the highest chance of happening. Then it will give me a number 1-25 with the higher numbers having a bigger chance. So 1-10 each have a 1.8% chance. 11-15 have a 3.6% chance, 16-20 is 5.4% and 21-25 is 7.2%. If it comes up 1 the highest rated guy on the roster gets suspended. Here is a pic of what it looks like. I need to go in and change it since we have 26 man rosters now.

Since the number was 3 I just ignore everything after those top 3.

And yes he has been suspended before. Since its just RNG I probably wont worry about keeping track of who has and hasnt been suspended before. Just give them a 70 day injury and then injure again for the postseason if I remember to.

Started franchise with the Giants which i play manager. Ive gotten thru 3 road games and 3 home games against the Dodgers and 3 road games against the D'backs. The Giants are 3 - 6 winning just 1 game in each series so far to start off a weird year.

The pitching as a whole has been spot on with a team era of 1.58. The offense has been the worst think ive ever seen since the beginnng of spring training. The team average thru 3 series is .142. At this point im giving the lineup a few more games to figure it out before i make some changes. Im currently eyeing Yasiel Puig and Addison Russell who are still FA.

The previous game against the Dodgers was the craziest thing ive ever experienced. The game lasted 23 innings in which the Giants came out on top 1-0. The Dodgers left their last pitcher i the game. Pedro Beaz went on to pitch 10 2/3 innings in which he struck out 13 while throwing 147 pitches.

Finally I started my second half of the 2019 season. The first place Braves(55-37) vs. Padres(38-52).

Game 1: The winning streak halted @7.
Star of the Game: SS Tatis Jr., 3 for 6,HR,2B & 3R, He started off the scoring for the Padres by leading off the Btm of the 1st with a 2B. He ended the game in the Btm of the 11th with a 382ft. HR to left. Padres 4 Hrs and Braves with 5 hrs. SP Fried got rocked, 3IP,7H,5ER,4K &1BB. He is my ace of staff (13-2), but proven to be human. Lost 9-8.

                          Game 2: SP Teheran dominates!
CG, SHO,9.0IP,2H,11K,0ER & 0BB. He is now 13-3. No HR's by either team. We won 4-0.

Game 3: Lost the 3-game series
Very well pitched game by the 2 starter's. Newcomb & Jacob Nix. Both went 6IP and gave up a HR each. The difference was the Padres 3B Machado hit a 2R HR, oppose to B-Mac being a solo shot! We lost 2-1. We're still in 1st in the NL East by 2.5 over the Mets.

Braves News: OF Heyward & Joyce were activated off the DL. I optioned OF Robinson to AAA & placed SS Tulo on opt. assignment waivers.
I was able to re-signed RP Vizzy & SP Teheran to 3yr deals. I also renewed the contract of SP Fried(Ace) 2yrs/4.75M.

Up next is the Brew Crew in Milwaukee for three games. Folty vs. Davies, Soroka vs. Nelson and Fried vs. Peralta

Kopeck Silents Twins, Sox Win 3-1
Sox youngster allows just one run

                              April 12, 2020
Chicago--- What a difference one day can make in the game of baseball. Just yesterday, the MInnesota Twins scored 19 runs on 23 hits and nine homeruns, but today Michael Kopech was nearly unhittable and the Chicago White Sox knocked off the Twins 3-1.

Kopech (3-0) was a highly touted prospect all the way through the minors, regularely hitting triple digits with his fastball. Tommy John surgery in September of 2018, put a temporary halt on his rise the stardom, but it appears that he has come back better than ever.

“I feel good,” said Kopech after the game. “There is no pain and the ball just feels like it is coming out of my hand nicely.”

Kopech went just six and one-third innings, as the White Sox will still keep an eye on his pitch count. He ended with 93 pitches on the day. He allowed just one unearned run and gave up only four hits to an offense that was on fire 24 hours prior.

Jose Berrios (0-2) was the tough luck loser again, as a two-run homerun off the bat of Jose Abreu in the fourth was the difference in the game. He went six full innings allowing three runs on four hits and three walks. He stuck out three as well.

Max Kepler was the only Twin with a multi-hit game, as he continued to hit the ball hard.

The Twins will hop on a plan tonight as they head north of the border to take on the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday night. Kenta Maeda (3-0, 1.00) will take on Shun Yamaguchi (0-3, 8.27), with first pitch scheduled for 7:07 PM.

                                MLB 20 Yankees Franchise

                                March 23, 2020

The team is about to break camp and head north, so let's look in on our injured list to start the season.

                                <html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><link href="http://dynasties.operationsports.com/css/osdyn.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"></head><body><table cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1" class="osdyn" width="575"><tr class="masthead_alt"><td bgcolor="#0F4871" colspan="3">New York Yankees Injury Report</td></tr><tr class="stathead"><td width="8%">Pos</td><td width="36%">Player</td><td width="56%">Injury Note</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>RHP</td><td>Luis Severino</td><td>Tommy John Surgery - Out for Season</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>LHP</td><td>James Paxton</td><td>Back Surgery - ETA May 2020</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>RHP</td><td>Domingo German</td><td>Restricted List - Eligible for reinstatement June 4, 2020</td></tr><tr class="evenrow"><td>OF</td><td>Aaron Judge</td><td>Stress fracture in rib - ETA TBD</td></tr><tr class="oddrow"><td>OF</td><td>Aaron Hicks</td><td>Tommy John Surgery - ETA June or July 2020</td></tr></table></body></html>

I suppose the team should think twice before signing players to multi-year extensions, as both Severino and Hicks were bitten by the injury bug shortly after signing their contracts. Signing Gerrit Cole in the offseason softens the blow of losing 3/5 of the starting rotation for sure. The team will open the 2020 season with the following starters:

                                Gerrit Cole
                                Masahiro Tanaka
                                J.A. Happ
                                Jordan Montgomery
                                Jonathan Loaisiga

Happ and his $17 million contract were shopped on the trade block in the offseason, but the team's injury situation has cleared the way for him to play a central role in the team this season. Paxton should be back by summer if all goes well with his rehab. As for Severino, when all is said and done he will have missed the better part of 3 full seasons. He is still only 26 years old, so there is hope he can get back on track when he gets healthy. Domingo German was asked to stay away from the team during Spring Training and will work out at the team's complex in the Dominican Republic as he serves his domestic violence suspension.

Judge represents another significant blow as he hasn't been able to stay on the field consistently since his breakout 2017 season. Giancarlo Stanton will open the season in right field with Gardner in center and Mike Tauchman in left. This clears the way for Clint Frazier to break camp with the team as our 4th outfielder - which could be the opportunity he has looked for with the Yankees since coming over in a 2016 trade with Cleveland.

The team has 2 games left to play in spring training before announcing final roster cuts. The final bullpen spot is expected to be decided between lefty Tyler Lyons and rookie righthander Brooks Kriske. Tyler Wade, Thairo Estrada, Mike Ford, and Rosell Herrera are still in the mix to earn roles off the bench to start the year.
