Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

ok so i have a good trade question... I'm going into my 3rd year with the Cards and need some power in the lineup because Dejong and Oniell aren't keeping up with where i feel they should be so im looking to trade for either Judge or Gallo for RF and put Carlson in CF.

The trade pieces i am willing to part with are

    O'niell A potential
    Libertore A potential
    Knizer B potential
a young 2B that i drafted with A potential .. what do you think it would take to make either one of these trades work out??

I am the Cubs (19-12) in first by 0.5 games in the NL Central and the Rays are 14-18 and sit in third, 5.5 games out of first. Obviously it's early, last day of April, but I need some rotation help.
I would wait on pulling the trigger for the Rays, they are looking towards playoffs. However, at this point in the season, I would say that Morton is worth ~29M. I would say that Brennen Davis + a lotto ticket or two should get the deal done. Morton's value will also depend on how he's pitching in your franchise, as well as how late you trade for him. I've found it hard to assess trade deadline value for rentals, because over 2/3 of the season is gone.

I was thinking the same thing. I'll wait to try to acquire him. If they Rays are not contending and looking to trade later in the season I'll see what I can do. I'd probably would not consider trading Brennan Davis though. He's one of my few A prospects in a pretty weak Cubs farm and Morton is a 36-year old rental that isn't exactly an elite arm. I was thinking a B level prospect or maybe even a Major League piece like Albert Almora Jr.

Also, I'd love to have some bullpen help. Who are some guys that might be available from lower teir teams?

Re: Official MLB 20 the Show Trade Discussion Thread

Looking to help the Jays make a deal affecting the future of their franchise at the deadline of 2020. They are 62-47 and pushing for the playoffs. As a young team, I want them to acquire someone with control, who could be a leader on their squad. I have narrowed in on Whit Merrifield as their main target, they currently have a weak CF and need production from that spot in the future.

          Blue Jays get: Whit Merrifield (31 YO, ~61M Value, 1.8 WAR, .262/.317/.352, 5 HR, 6.5% BB, 12.7% K)

          Royals get: Simeon Woods-Richardson (19 YO, ~40M Value, 70 OVR, Low A POT, AAA - 49.0 IP, 2.94 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, 2.53 FIP, 9.18 K/9, 3.12 BB/9, 0.37 HR/9), Gabriel Moreno (19 YO, ~12M Value, 68 OVR, Mid B POT, AAA - 188 AB, .213/.266/.277, 0 HR, 6.4% BB, 20.6% K), Miguel Hiraldo (19 YO, ~10M Value, 66 OVR, Low B POT, AAA - 155 AB, .271/.331/.394, 1 HR, 7.1% BB, 17.2% K)

Reasoning: Whit has spent most of his career playing for a losing team, he is fed up and wants to move to a winner. He would spearhead the resurgence of the Blue Jays. Woods-Richardson would be the headliner in this deal, obviously his value is not as high in real life, but I believe that he has pitched himself into the top 26-50 P category. Other than that, the Jays also give up two young pieces that have potential to be starters one day.

Trying to estimate if this deal is enough for the Royals, would love to hear thoughts from both sides of the deal (Jays and Royals fans). Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Morton was 6th in WAR last year among pitchers, so he kind of performed as an elite arm. Despite that, he is a rental and has 15M on his contract, so his value would be skewed. I could see something along the lines of Alzolay + Roederer mid-season.

Assuming Judge and Gallo are still with their current real life teams in your franchise, what is the situation for the Yankees and Rangers? What do Judge and Gallo’s stats look like? Always helpful to include some extra background info when you’re talking about a franchise multiple years in. Players probably won’t have the same value 3 years into your franchise as they do now in real life so that would make the trade a bit off.

Almora Jr. barely has more value than you or I do. Plus he's at best their 3rd CF behind KK and Margot

So Judge is a 97 and has decent years with averages the last 3 years of .260 avg 35 hrs 105 RBIs...

Gallo over the same time is a 96 and has averages of .240
40 hrs 120 RBIs... The rangers have made the playoffs 2 outta the 3 years and look like a solid team

The Yankees have made the playoffs once in the 3 years and lost Hicks ,andujar, Sanchez ,and voit ..

So the trade I m thinking of offering is

                    O'Neill,
                    Bader,
3rd base prospect with A potential

For Judge and a 70 1B they had ... Sound fair or should I look for another trade?

                      Fair enough.

I always enjoy this thread immensely. I like to role play as if this is the discussions that go on before a deal is struck. Ha.

Anyway, I'm into May now and I'd really like to bolster my bullpen, especially with high K/9 guys. I'm open to trading some B level prospects as I'm not trying to get a marquee guy necessarily. Here's who I have on my list as potential targets...

Andrew Chafin (Arizona): 0-1, 2.61 ERA, 13 SO, 10.1 IP. He's currently serving as the closer as Archie Bradley has not done well. Chafin has 11 saves on the year.
29-years old and on the last year of his deal. He's having a good year so far and the Diamondbacks are 15-17.

Kyle Barraclough (Padres): He's yet to pitch in 2020 as he's currently injured. He should return in a couple weeks. I'm sure he'd cost me a lot more since he has a B potential and is only 28. He'd probably be my #1 guy I'd really like to have if the price is right. He's not a free agent until 2023.

Adam Ottavino (Blue Jays): 0-0, 2.77 ERA, 13.0 IP, 20 SO. 34-years old and two years remaining on his contract, including this year.

Jake Diekman (Athletics): 1-0, 6.75 ERA, 6.2 IP, 11 SO. 33-years old and two years remaining on his contract, including this year.

                      CUBS GIVE UP....?

Here's what I'd be willing to give up for one of these. Let me know if you think it would work...

                      Any of these prospects:
                      3B Christopher Morel: 20-years old, B potential, 62 OVR
SS Aramis Ademan: 21-years old, B potential, 66 OVR
SS Luis Vergundo: 19-year old, B potential, 51 OVR
LF Jose Gutierrez: 21-year old, B potential, 55 OVR

                      MLB players:
                      CF Albert Almora Jr.

POSSIBLY... but I'd really rather not

SS Nico Hoerner: 22-years old, A potential, 68 OVR
                      3B David Bote: 26-years old, B potential, 76 OVR

If there's any other guys with high K/9 attributes that you can think of I'd be interested as well. I tried to select teams that a) the Cubs were likely to trade with and b) that are likely not contenders this year as it's still early in the season.

Thoughts on this trade? I'm heading into the All-Star break and the Cubs are 5 games under .500 and about 8 games back for the 2nd WC. My goal here is to clear cap space to resign Bryant long term. The Twins are in 1st place in the AL Central btw.

                        Twins get:
                        Contreras
                        Schwarber
                        Bote
                        Kimbrel

                        Cubs get:
                        Alex Kiriloff
                        Jhoan Duran
                        Marwin Gonzalez

I'm struggling to find a reason Minnesota would take on 4 guys that are under club control for multiple years.

I am the Expos (rebranded from the Marlins) and I am looking at trading away Brian Anderson, Miguel Rojas, Matt Kemp, Jordan Yamamoto, Matt Joyce and Jesus Aguilar.

I am looking for a Left handed reliever, 1B, RF and young starting pitcher. Who do you think I can get for these guys?

                          Thanks Nick

Are there any teams that would be interested in a guy like Ender Inciarte? Trying to figure out who could have some use a high level defensive center fielder who's struggling with the bat.

I'm not looking for a good return, just trying to create some space on the roster and maybe find a guy that can contribute throughout the season.

Looking at the following as possibilities:

Toronto (19-21, 4th in AL East) - The Blue Jays are playing a platoon of Fisher/Alford in center. Teoscar Hernandez is on the 60-Day IL and Fisher and Alford are both replacement level players.

Colorado (15-24, 4th in NL West) - David Dahl isn't a true centerfielder and is far better in one of the corners. This would allow Colorado to platoon Inciarte and Tapia in center and shift Dahl back to left. However, they do currently have Desmond, Daza, Tapia, Hilliard, Dahl, and Blackmon on the active roster, so not sure if they need another outfielder.

Arizona (20-20, 2nd in NL West) - Could send him back to Arizona. The D'Backs currently have Jon Jay as their 4th outfielder. Inciarte is certainly an upgrade over Jay, especially defensively.

Pittsburgh (15-24, 5th in NL Central) - Bryan Reynolds is out for the next 1-2 months with an injury, leaving Guillermo Heredia as the Pirates everyday CF.

I’m currently near the trade deadline in my Dodgers franchise and the only thing I’m missing is a power right handed bat. Any trade ideas that I can make?

For me it would depend on where these teams are in the standings and how well Inciarte is playing. As a Jays fan, Toronto desperately needs a CF but they would be looking to add youth unless they were in playoff contention and Inciarte's contract was digestible. That said, they should probably be playing Grichuk in CF and looking to acquire a bat for RF.

As for the rest of the teams, Pittsburgh probably seems like the best fit. Although, Jarrod Dyson would already be there and be a similar type of player.

Looking at the following as possibilities:

Toronto - The Blue Jays are playing a platoon of Fisher/Alford in center. Teoscar Hernandez is on the 60-Day IL and Fisher and Alford are both replacement level players.

Colorado - David Dahl isn't a true centerfielder and is far better in one of the corners. This would allow Colorado to platoon Inciarte and Tapia in center and shift Dahl back to left. However, they do currently have Desmond, Daza, Tapia, Hilliard, Dahl, and Blackmon on the active roster, so not sure if they need another outfielder.

Arizona - Could send him back to Arizona. The D'Backs currently have Jon Jay as their 4th outfielder. Inciarte is certainly an upgrade over Jay, especially defensively.

Pittsburgh - Bryan Reynolds is out for the next 1-2 months with an injury, leaving Guillermo Heredia as the Pirates everyday CF.
