No Y2Y carryover saves is a gut punch out of the gate.

I always thought there would be a year (assumed jump to next gen) when carryover saves would be suspended so they could rewrite old code in franchise mode, but damn does it sting.

    Looking forward to hearing more

That sucks, but as someone who is going to be moving to Xbox this year, I wasn't expecting to be able to use that feature anyway this year.

Yes, it does. I actually thought of you when I first read it. We knew this would happen at some stage. It was just a matter of when. Hopefully, it is a good update and worth the sacrifice.

The good news is that MLB 20 is playable (and apparently, quite spectacularly) on the PS5...we'll always have that version for our existing franchises. It would have stun a lot more if the overhaul had happened in a way that would not allow us to take advantage of the new system's power.

Were we able to use a roster from a previous year in this years Show? Seem to remember we could. Think we'll be able to import our rosters?

Yeah, I just got a PS5 on Friday and played some MLB 20 over the weekend. As someone who only ever owned a launch model PS4 and not the Pro, gotta say, that game looks and runs real nice on a PS5.

Does The Show have online leagues? How does it compare to 2k and Madden? This is coming from an Xbox guy so I have no clue.

I would hope so, it would be hard to see myself buying the game if there aren’t major improvements to franchise AND I have to ditch my carryover save. I can do one but not both

Well no carry over saves could pretty much end the Fictional Roster from Bacon. He would have to start from scratch every year. Unless there is something they have not revealed yet.

This is enough right here to kill this Franchise for me.

Honestly I don't know. I am so heavily invested in this franchise, that honestly I have no desire to start from scratch, even with the offseason moves the Cardinals have made.

Agreed, just I don't know that I have the time to dedicate to two franchises, nor do I really want to.

I have exhausted hours into my carryover that has involved not only playing games, but roster editing, adding in top prospects, to now mixing in players of yesteryear, all the while watching as teams rise and fall just like they do in real life.

I'm going to be honest, this is a setback that while I knew was possible, and expected, makes me really interested to see what the franchise changes are, and if they will be worth the price of not only upgrading, but putting to bed a franchise I have been so dedicated to.

SDS could have had to disable the Y2Y carry over for this initial release due to a "revamped franchise". SDS even mentions that they know how important this Y2Y feature is to the community, so maybe they are reworking it alongside the revamped franchise still, but don't want to get everyone's hopes up by fully promising it out of the gate.

Like I said a few posts ago, this, to me at least, was expected due to franchise mode being written on old code and the reasoning for them not adding things the community wanted was because things needed to be re-written/started from scratch.

My guess, and its only that, is that you won't be able to carryover from '20 to '21, but from '21 going forward, carryover saves will resume.

They needed a point to suspend it to work on franchise mode and this is as good of a time as any.

As much as it sucks that the game doesn't come out until April 20th, at least that gives me and I'm sure others time to get a PS5 or XBOX too. It's nice that it's coming to XBOX and I'm happy for all of them and the fact the Devs should make more money to hopefully put resources into the game. I do feel like I'd be cheating on the game if I played on XBOX ha.
