Started a RTTS tonight and I'm having so much fun. Decided to just go with being a left fielder and lemme tell you, playing with Track Ball fielding has made playing outfield so much better. I love it so far!

Thanks for the reply/update Jeffrey, much appreciated. I understand what you mean. I think I will get the Game Pass just to test it on my TV and see what you see in terms of the Antialiasing issue you are experiencing. It might be worse for me!..lol Thanks again!

When the ball is hit into the crowd, it hits an invisible wall instead of actually going into the crowd. Is this a bug? They have to fix this! On PS5 btw...

Tonight I tried 20 again on my ps5... I don’t know, with the right sliders something about 20 just feels better. Bat sounds are fantastic in 20, they sound perfect IMO and no idea why they were changed in 21. SOTS is just so immersive.. it’s all set up and working in 20 and it’s just amazing. I’ve played about 5 games on the ps5 version of 21 and mIssing SOTS makes me wonder if I can really play a full season without them.

It's not an invisible wall, it's the safety netting that is extended all the way down the lines

When you get perfect on swing timing the crack of the bat sounds so good!... at least with the pulse 3D headset.

Well whether it’s PlayStation 3,4,5; Clyde Washington still sucks. He had such an erratic strike zone in the game ( especially the low strike) I played as the Twins vs the White Sox.

Re: MLB the Show 21 Impressions Thread

When it comes down to gameplay The Show is hands down the best baseball game ever made. The tweaks may not be big but man every year it plays a better digital game of baseball.

Having said that I expected a little bit more of a graphical leap but I’ll give them a pass because of the insane pandamic year and the development for 6 freakin consoles, that must have been a massive undertaking.

Couple of things I want to mention:

                  -gameplay best ever
-lighting looks more natural but during night games its a hit and miss
-dirt looks to be improved but the “breadcrums” are still an eyesore
-I don’t know what to think of the birds, I wish the shadows of the stadiumflags would move this year but are still static
-haptic feedback on the dualsense is nice but not game changing, perfect perfect shouldn’t result in a big rumble.
-the menu they had the past couple of years was in my opinion great and now a lot less intuitive if you ask me
-the quick menu in game only shows the quirks now which is a downgrade in my opinion. For the contact and power rating of the batter you now have to press up on the d-pad and then circle to get out.
-I’m digging the playlist after years of not liking it

                  That’s it for now [emoji4]

Re: MLB the Show 21 Impressions Thread

A few more impressions after completing several games in my Twins franchise: My first 4 games I didn’t score more than 3 runs in any of them, yet I went 3-1 and won pitchers duels. I was wondering if the game was harder this year, or if I was rusty. I played on default HOF the last few years, but I am on default all star this year. In my last 2 games, I have 12 and 14 hits. I swept the Tigers and was feeling like maybe it was time to go up to HOF. I am now in the 5th inning at home against Seattle and I am being no-hit by Sheffield. Seattle only has 2 hits off of Happ, who somehow has 7 strikeouts already. I think I may have to stay at all star for hitting and HOF for pitching. Good hitters make you pay for a mistake, but pitching on all star seems too easy for me now. I pitch on classic, so there’s not much human interaction and it’s obviously the easiest way to pitch. I just don’t like any of the other options.

The positives far outweigh the negatives, but this game really doesn’t feel next gen to me. I remember going from ps1 to ps2 and being shocked how good MGS 2 looked. I haven’t had that feeling at any point in the show 21, but 60 FPS is amazing. That was available on the show 20 with ps5, but to me it’s new. I am really hoping the show 22 is a true next gen title, considering the ps4 and Xbox one won’t have to be accounted for.

                    Things I’m not liking:

Commentary is STALE. Anyone who has played more than a few games of the show 20 has heard most of these lines. Matt still has the line where a ball is hit deep and he says “ a drive to right.. a ball that’s carrying.” As soon as you hear that, you know it’ll be caught. The biggest issue graphically for me is that most players eyes look downright creepy. Eyes, hair and teeth are the hardest things to animate, especially when they try to make hundreds of pro players look as lifelike as possible. My wife is a die hard Twins fan and she was able to identify every player on the team (I zoomed in so you couldn’t see their number) but some of them are lacking. Hair especially is horrible.

Maybe I’m expecting too much, but I’m dreaming of the day where the faces of the players look like a naughty dog title. That’s probably several generations away, though.

All in all, the gameplay is digital crack and I will play as much as I can. It’s not 10/10, but to someone who has never played the show I could see it being close to perfect for them. To me, it has a been there done that feeling, mostly down to the repetitive and tired commentary. The few new lines are repeated every game, so it’s in need of a nice overhaul to me.

Has anyone successfully checked a swing? Seems like it’s always a strike no matter what.

And can they please give Heidi more to say than asking about the state of the teams offense?

Yes. I had successful checks multiple times.

As far as Heidi. I turn her off for normal broadcast games, then I turn her back on for MLB network broadcast games. Flat out The stuff she says is really stale.

Most of the time no, it’s a strike but I have a few times. I like it now because it has been too easy to check swing last few years.

                            Been playing quite a lot

There are things in this game that slightly standout
The colors pop more, the grass looks better (I’m real picky and it could look a whole lot better too)player models I think are good except for cloth physics

There are stadium textures that are still flat as can be and have zero 3d pop

Gameplay wise I don’t enjoy the pinpoint pitching much rather the pulse since it resembles the pro yakyuu series more

Skies need new textures was out yesterday and was paying close attention to the cloud cover lol mlb misses it

Then again these are fixes that should be looked at

                            The game plays fantastic tho
And better than anything before it

I have a few other annoyances
                            Roster saving can’t download
Classic rosters esp after they used the same engine
Stadium creator is lackluster esp after they said that it took two years. We can search creations that are real and we can’t create domes so No expos stadiums sad. We can’t edit existing mlb stadiums to fix things they don’t catch
No sponsorship adding in stadiums either so it’s a bit of a wash. I’ve been able to find a few stadiums that were created by others but you have to have a good eye for it and follow what aces does in other stadiums they’ve created

                            And that’s the thing
                            My expectations for next gen....

I love playing this game but when I go back to playing mlb 20 on the ps5 I love it too but for different reasons one major reason is classic rosters both games play buttery smooth too

I know the real reason why the game didn’t progress that much and that BEcaue it was made to be played in Xbox as well so they couldn’t focus on anything else but porting and minor gameplay and graphic fixes. They changes the menus too and in some ways they are great other I miss mlb 20s look too

So the games a catch 22.... meaning we’ll have to see what we catch in mlb the show 22 now

Something is definitely screwed up with lighting in some of the parks. Playing a night game at AmFam Field with the roof closed, everything looks great. Playing a night game at Marlins Park with the roof closed, and everything is sooooooo dark it looks pretty bad. I’ve seen others mention Texas as one that looks too dark and I agree with that one too. I did the moment where you have to hit a grand slam with Tatis and it’s a night game at that park, everything looked a bit too dark.
