They added the 1994 Cleveland uniforms, which means red socks are back!

The presentation this year is fantastic, feels like a actual broadcast.

I’m glad you mentioned this.. the smoothness between scenes just feels so natural. My PS4 pro on 20 felt so sluggish it didn’t feel real for that reason alone. Feels great in that department.

I actually really like the new scorebug and the show theme.

I wonder if that's because San Diego Studios had to develop on four different consoles this year. Looking forward to when they can just focus on next-gen.

There are def some nice touches! Matty V sounded real excited when I crushed back to back HRs. The additional facts and stats on the screen and talked about are really nice.

The crack of the bat sounds soooooo good with pulse 3D headset! Liking the additional facts and stats about the players. Also as others have pointed out, the fielding is do much smoother. I’ve been using auto past few years but I’m giving manual a try again.

I was as well. The problem for me was that after a while even with my lower end pitchers (I play almost solely franchise) I never walked anyone because my timing was pretty spot on. And I’m 50 years old and my reflexes aren’t what they once were.
I know it’s very early on in this game and I may get the timing of pinpoint pitching down as time goes on, but at least with pinpoint pitching I’m walking some of the opposing players and my pitch count is actually somewhat realistic.
This is the most sim experience I’ve had in a long, long time with a baseball game.

Re: MLB the Show 21 Impressions Thread

                    So I played two games, the one they force you to play with no play-by-play and then another. So early impressions;

The game looks good that's for sure, I think this is the most accurate body models they’ve managed to put together. I also like that I can see the seams on the ball when it's in the air now, you can see them rotate, that's really cool. I think the default camera is a bit too far so I’m using strike-zone 3 because it's the exact same camera World Series Baseball had on the Genesis.

The game gives you a lot more information now, and without being cluttered, you can see so much data on the fly on every pitch, it made me think of my individual pitches a lot more. The play-by-play is better but a bit buggy, like I got hit by a pitch and they said “first pitch is a ball” and they also made some other mistake with something that happened on screen. Like it needs a patch. What also needs a patch is Heidi’s face. The reporter between innings? They like forgot to texture it or something or this graphical engine only knows how to create men because she looks funny. Poor Heidi looks like Clayface.

Otherwise, I think the commentary is still better, they talk more about strategy and the guy doing the commentary actually makes useful points now. I only wish they took the commentary to the next level, the play-by-play and banter are super important to baseball. You can tell more than ever that these two people aren't in the same room for a lot of the commentary. Anyway, the game is smooth as ever and the UI is the best they’ve done so far, IMO.

I have purchased the game for a number of years now. However, this is the first year in a while that I had to hunt through the new menu system to find what I was looking for.

It also seemed that from the start the game was trying to steer one into DD.

old gen or new gen? Curious if it is a next gen exclusive feature?

Really love the new game, playing on PS5 next gen. The fielding change is a really nice refreshing addition, adds a cool dynamic to the game.

I personally am a meter pitching person (been playing for 15+ years, too late for me to change). The pinpoint pitching seems very cool though I will definitely have to give it a shot. Idk about anyone else, but the hitting also seems to be a lot harder this year than in the past. I struggled for a bit but just finally broke out after 4 games of 1 run and scattering hits

Really like the franchise menu changes as well and the new depth chart. Just great quality of life updates that were much needed. I used to keep a notebook of similar things and this does a ton of work for me now.

Overall, the show is always amazing IMO and will be my #1 played game going forward again. So very happy with the new product, plays great and is definitely the best version of this game yet

Overall...first impressions playing on Xbox Series S. Cool to finally have the game on Xbox....but I probably should have waited till it was on GamePass on Tuesday.

Overall looks pretty blah on my Xbox Series S. Not bad by any means but probably not much better then on PS4/Xbox One. Have some antialiasing stuff going on around the bat and hats/helmets. Don’t see a graphics options 4K @ 60fps or 1080 @120. Have had some frame drops once or twice in the 5 or so games I’ve played.

Wasn’t really impressed with stadium creator. It’s cool that it’s available but the stadiums still end up looking blah. No signage/team branding/ads on any of the walls, no opening week/logos on field makes for a bland looking stadium. No distance marker on the walls. And the fact that you can’t seem to play night games in created stadiums. Not sure if that’s a bug or if that’s just the way it is.

Why can you still not upload a logo to a website like for NBA2k? Would make creating custom teams so much more realistic.

And the end of the day it’s the show on Xbox, something I never thought I’d see happen. So hard to complain too much. Lol

The default roster is improved from last year but is still way too flawed to begin a franchise. No player from the 2020 draft is in the game and Korey Lee is again the #1 prospect in the game according to SDS.
