Yeah like I said there are head scratchers, but I find it be better than its been in a long time, if ever. The increased budgets help imo.

And yeah the Mariners traded him to the Brewers (thanks M's) in my franchise in year one and got Corey Ray back and two other players whose names escape me right now.

I’ve blocked him going to the Reds several times. Looking out for your Cards, CB.

Anyone know if you can use the dynamic defence fielding camera when batting?

I just had an inning where I scored five runs on one hit. You don't see that every day.
          • Freeman (pinch-hitting) walked.
          • Albies flew out.
          • Harrison walked.
          • Ozuna walked.
          • Joc battled back from an 0-2 count to get to 2-2 then a passed ball to bring in a run. Then he was intentionally walked.
          • Duvall with a grand slam.
          • Pablo grounded out.
          • Flowers grounded out.

Edit: Get out-hit 8-6 but win 9-1 thanks to 10 walks.

            I envy your patience.

I almost throw myself a party when I can draw one walk.

Re: MLB The Show 21 Impressions Thread

The mindtrick I play on myself is to really focus on pitch count. If you get three hits on three pitches, but strikeout and then hit into a double play, so what?

My goal, for an average inning is to see 15 pitches. So my mindset is not to swing early, giving myself the advantage of guessing a pitch and location, and just hammering or watching a strike go by.

The last thing I want to do is give away a late inning advantage by not getting the starter out an inning earlier. But I will catch myself going too conservative and just getting eaten up by 0-2 counts, which doesn't help.

So the pitch count is a minigame I play with myself in order to force me to take more pitches, since I can feel pretty good if I don't score, but saw 20+ pitches. That adds up and can lead to the big inning. But it can also bury me if I'm not careful.

Coming from a ton of SMB3 online, the number one mistake players make is predictably swinging early in counts. It takes so much pressure off the pitcher if you swing at that sinker that I threw at the knees, because I don't care if it is a strike or not. That was an out pitch that you get stuck swinging at with 2 strikes. You want to give me that on pitch #1? Okay!

This just opens up so much more strategy on offense, because when you start drawing walks, your options explode. One of the main reasons I would not play a lot of past baseball games is that mostly operated like slow pitch softball. No walks, and lots of balls in play. If I can't draw walks, I'm not having fun.

Nice! I had a game recently (MLB 20) where I drew 6 consecutive walks. That was wild.

I actually do this. I'm pretty good at working a count, but when it gets to 3-2? All bets are off as to my eye for the zone.

Yeah I often times go 3 pitches deep minimum for each hitter , first time through the order. Just to get the pitch count up early. Then I start mixing it up after that.

Some pitchers pound the zone early so I won't work the count just to work the count. Pounding a pitcher out of the game is as fun as wearing one out.

I love how the game is so dynamic in this area.

One thing I've noticed - at least on All-Star, is the CPU is definitely more careful pitching in the zone depending on the situation.

When Acuña is hot, the CPU rarely throws him a strike. And my 8-hole hitter rarely gets a strike if there's a runner in scoring position with two out.

Have to say this game is amazing on PS5. Had it since launch and have had so much fun with it. From where this series was at on PS4 just a few years ago it has been a total turnaround.

Really cool thing I saw somewhat along these lines...batting bottom of the 8th inning up 2 runs, 2 outs with a runner on first. Joc Pederson pinch hitting for my Cubs. He falls behind 1-2. The Braves pitcher tries to get me to chase something in the dirt but it gets a little bit away from d'Arnaud and Patrick Wisdom advances to 2nd on some heads up aggressive baserunning. Now a 2-2 count, the reliever tries to get Joc to chase again but I manage to work it full.

On deck is Craig Kimbrel, who I brought in to get out of some trouble in the 8th, so now that it is a better hitters count with a base open, the Braves issue an intentional walk to force my hand...I let Kimbrel hit to keep him in the game and a he manages to make some weak contact and hit a dribbler to Freeman to end the inning.

I ended up winning on a walkoff in the 10th after a wild 9th inning rally by the Braves and even scoring the go ahead run in the top of the 10th. Javy drove in the tying run with a double in the 10th and the Patrick Wisdom walked it off 2 batters later. A really fun game...especially that strategic sequence in the 8th. I had never seen the strategy change from pitch to pitch quite like that

Been very into my A's franchise and I like the critical situations to jump into partial games rather than playing a whole one every time.

One thing I'd like in the future is maybe a little more variety in the situations.

Right now it's basically save situations, extra innings, hitting streak and shut out/no hitter player lock moments.

It'd be nice if they added some random player lock games like are in March to October.

Also some mid game critical situations too. Like getting the starting pitcher out of a jam, or an early run scoring opportunity.

Just like the ability to stay more involved with my franchise that isn't playing entire games but still getting through seasons quickly.
