Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
About time.
I made the suggestion a few years ago that they should put them in a booth and make the commentary off of live games..Can't wait to see how this plays out!Comment

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
As negative as I have been this year about the game, this is a great change and excited to hear more. Commentary had gotten so stale and this was much needed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
Well, one bad thing is that they were recording lines from the middle of the 2019 season, there hasn't been a lot of baseball since then. LOL Well, I guess 2 full seasons pretty much. So that is still good.Follow me on Twitch

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
Not overly excited nor overly negative about this news. I really just want to see how it is implemented in game before really reacting.
(But I will take a 2-person booth over a 3-person booth any day of the week)Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

True but you gotta admit at least, it should be an improvement in that area.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
I welcome the new commentary. I just hope this does not mean a reduction in the first and last name voice files in the game. I would instead like to see this database continue to increase each year.

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
In regard to commentary from Heidi, my only complaint is that her commentary database seems quite small. If we are to continue with her commentary I would like to see much more variety in her commentary.

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
Like others, I also have concerns regarding the name database and whether the MLB Network graphics package remains in the game (I haven't been a huge fan of the default Show packages the last couple of years).
But, an overall commentary refresh is quite welcome. I never thought SDS would move on from Matty V, but he was starting to sound a bit stale. And I was never a fan of Derosa, so him being gone is an instant upgrade. I will miss Plesac a bit, though. He was pretty inoffensive (If a bit bland).
But, generally speaking a two-man booth is preferable.
Edit: This quote from Polygon makes it sounds like the name database may be intact?
"MLB The Show 22’s commentary will also implement “audio stitching enhancements” that both improve the integration of thousands of players’ first and last names, and should increase the variety of play-by-play and color commentary that players hear."

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
I am super excited about this! The commentary needed a huge overhaul and it was tike to move on from Matty. I love him in real life but his enthusiasm in real broadcasts never translated well into the game. This will make the game feel fresh and I am thrilled to see where it can go from here.

Re: MLB The Show '22 - New Commentary Team
The current presentation and commentary is a major part of the reason why I love this series' franchise mode more than any other out there. They weave in so many little elements into franchise's presentation (e.g. the road to the show report, discussion of a player's recent performance, the various game storylines) that add layers to the franchise experience - I want to at least know that all of those different franchise-specific elements have been incorporated with the new commentary team (not to mention the generic player name database audio).
Look....if they've done all that with the new team....I'll be on-board with stating that it could be an improvement.
I'll be curious what Thursday brings....Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
